Do you let your dog sleep on your bed? I just imagine this is the most cosy feeling ever

Yes my dog sleeps on my bed. We like to spoon. It's wonderful.
It is a fact however that no matter the size of the dog they will take up the entire bed and you'll need to buy a super king to accommodate.

Itsthewhitehat · 30/12/2022 08:19

Mine are occasionally. They have a blanket that I put on the bed. I sleep on my side with my legs bent and the cocker sleeps curled up behind my knees.

One is some sort of poodle mix (rescue and unsure of actual breed mix) and she starts next to the cocker then moves to the end because she gets too warm. Neither disrupt my sleep. I don’t do it too often though as I don’t want them getting used to it.

Sleep woofs and dream running is the best, we joke that even in dreams she can't catch a squirrel.

It's adorable, isn't it?

Better from a distance, though.

I love sharing my bed with mine. Waking up in the night and feeling that warm lump on the bed makes me smile.

Do you enjoy being body slammed by a hairy hippo at 3am or waking up to a bumhole about three inches from your face?

If the answer is no to the above you wouldn’t like sharing a bed with a dog!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It starts off ok with them curled into a neat ball. Then during the night they expand like a bath sponge placed in water, into you find yourself clinging to the edge of the mattress for fear you'll fall out!

This is so true!

FarFlungFlamingo · 30/12/2022 08:21

We let our pup sleep in our bed once when she was ill and never got her out of it again. She's actually a fairly respectful bed sharer, generally curled up at the end of the bed or fully stretched out between us.

TentoFive · 30/12/2022 08:23

I do not. Quite apart from the fur, the smell and having to accommodate a third body in my not very big bed, having shared a tent with my dog on several occasions she has a propensity to vigorously and noisily attend to her vulva in the early hours of the morning.

No thank you. She can stay downstairs in her basket and do all of that activity far away from my sleeping person.

Polkadotties · 30/12/2022 08:24

No. My dog isn’t allowed upstairs and even if she was she wouldn’t be allowed on my bed. My cat isn’t allowed on my bed either.

Peridot1 · 30/12/2022 08:24

I can’t think of anything worse. Mine is a big hairy smelly Labrador though. She’s not allowed upstairs. Sleeps in the utility room where she has a choice of two beds and a mat on the floor.

exLtEveDallas · 30/12/2022 08:24

MuttDog is absolutely NOT allowed on the bed. So much NOT that the steps we bought to facilitate her elderly body in NOT getting on the bed was the best purchase we made in a year…

No. He gets to sleep on his own bed downstairs I like snuggles on the sofa while I'm watching tv though.

Iheartmysmart · 30/12/2022 08:27

Mine sleeps on my bed most nights. In fact he’s currently still absolutely sparked out on it now, despite the fact I’ve been up for about an hour. He obviously knows we’ve got an appointment at the vet at 9.30 and is trying to sleep through it.

IwishIwasSupermum · 30/12/2022 08:27

Never used to, but she was poorly and we wanted to keep an eye on her, she’s fine in the winter, wouldn’t know she was there at the bottom of the bed(she’s only little), in the very cold she comes and gets in and keeps us warm, in the summer she prefers to stay downstairs where it’s cooler.

Ndd135632 · 30/12/2022 08:27

@exLtEveDallas oh my puppy was NOT even going to be allowed into the bedroom floors and then absolutely NOT in the bedrooms and totally NOT on the beds. He’s so NOT allowed that he is gently sighing asleep now at my feet in a ball.

Powerplant · 30/12/2022 08:28

Only when OH is on nights and guess who gets a great night’s sleep? Not me lol😊

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 30/12/2022 08:30

Yes :) My pug spoons me 😁 She puts her paws around my head from behind 🥰

Topee · 30/12/2022 08:31

Mine’s not allowed but only because of my husband. I would have given in by now.

Roselilly36 · 30/12/2022 08:32

I loved my dog, but no way on this earth would I have allowed him in our bed. He slept in the bedroom, but never in our bed.

yaflouloci · 30/12/2022 08:33

If they were small dogs, probably. I grew up with a Yorkshire terrier and he used to sleep in my bed. He'd curl up in a tiny ball at the back of my knees. I adored him.

Now I have two Labradors. It just doesn't work the same!

zazzabeans · 30/12/2022 08:34

I have a toy cockapoo so small, she sleeps above us in bed 🤣 she rarely moves in bed other than to swap sides.

BiteyShark · 30/12/2022 08:36

Spent the first two years not letting him on the bed. Then relented and wish we had done it earlier.

Yes he moves about and flops on you in the middle of the night. But he is cuddly and it's such a lovely feeling having him snuggle up to you especially on a cold night.

We just have a blanket on top of the bed so it can be cleaned more frequently.

MrsMitford3 · 30/12/2022 08:37

I have a small non shedding dog and she does sleep snuggled up to me-if I wake in the night I find stroking her very calming and helps me get back to sleep.

I have always had my dogs sleep in my bed-even as a child the family slept with me. I find it so comforting-and it is cosy

FizzyTango · 30/12/2022 08:37

Yes, it’s the cosiest feeling and I love it. Although I have a big long haired GSD so he gets to warm and moves to the floor quite quickly. But I cherish those 15 mins of snuggles when I’m drifting off to sleep, and the morning snooze cuddle before we get up!

PollyEsther · 30/12/2022 08:37

Yes! But, as PP, we have a small (>10kg) non-shedder. We barely know she’s there except for the snuggles. And the aforementioned sleep woofs, but DH sleep talks so they’re no hardship!
