Joules clothing has gone bust!

I just heard on the radio. Don't know what others think but I used to love their brightly coloured pyjamas.

Whaaat?!

gawditswindy · 14/11/2022 07:25

Their stuff is very expensive and a bit niche. It's a shame though as they have shops in small tourist towns that would be left empty if they shut down.

PriamFarrl · 14/11/2022 07:25

I know!! I just heard too. They are the only people who sell trousers that fit me. I live in there Henesford chinos. I must have about 10 pairs.

Byelaws · 14/11/2022 07:26

No surprise at all. Joules was very dated.

There will be lots more administrations over the next year or so.

LolaSmiles · 14/11/2022 07:27

I quite like some of their things, but find it's been getting a bit samey in recent years.

It's a shame though.

MissyB1 · 14/11/2022 07:27

That will be another empty shop in our town then 🙁

clockapp · 14/11/2022 07:27

Oh I liked their stuff

olivehater · 14/11/2022 07:27

It’s a shame but that Breton and quilted jacket look is synonymous with the 10s and they done appear to have updated their look at all.

theswoot · 14/11/2022 07:28

Maybe Mike Ashley will pick it up and make it another part of his empire

Kanaloa · 14/11/2022 07:28

I didn’t know this - used to like some of the kids stuff when mine were small. Although if I’m being honest I only ever bought it second hand. It was a bit expensive for what it was.

MichelleScarn · 14/11/2022 07:29

Oh no!! I am living in their thick cotton dress while pregnant as so roomy!!

familyissues12345 · 14/11/2022 07:29

Oh no! I liked the baby stuff when buying gifts and have a couple of tops and a coat for myself. Our local, fairly new store, closed down recently so I did wonder if it was about to go bust..

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/11/2022 07:30

What happens with all the stock currently sat on the High Street?

OLDanonymous · 14/11/2022 07:31

Assuming this means the garden trading company too? I love their stuff!

CornishTiger · 14/11/2022 07:32

They are still trading online?

Sparklingbrook · 14/11/2022 07:33

I thought it was vastly expensive for what it was and was never sure who their target market was.
I know someone in their 70s that’s a huge fan.

CucumberCool · 14/11/2022 07:33

They have a sale on at the moment, would it be silly to buy from them now?

APurpleSquirrel · 14/11/2022 07:33

It's not gone bust, they have brought in administrators. Most likely it will be bought up by another company.

Brogues · 14/11/2022 07:34

I thought Next had already bought them for some reason. Perhaps I’m thinking of another company!

Riskofbeingsued · 14/11/2022 07:35

I don't find this too surprising. I'm a 50 year old woman and I walk in their ships and never ever find anything I'd wear - all a bit dated and frumpy (although I do own and love a pair of their wellies). I feel as though their main rivals are places like White Stuff and Seasalt which seem to do better with shapes and patterns.

greenstrawberries · 14/11/2022 07:37

I find most of their stuff quite dated but the bits I have are excellent quality. I’ve a field coat that must be nearly 10 years old and still looks as good as the day I bought it.

Beanbagtrap · 14/11/2022 07:37

Not surprised. All the clothing always is very recognisable as joules. Stripes with a load of flowers over the top? Joules. And I think people don't necessarily want that at that price point.

Next bought the made.com name but not their stock

HeraldicBlazoning · 14/11/2022 07:40

Their stuff was lovely quality. I have a great cotton stripe jumper which is indestructible from there.

CreamArran · 14/11/2022 07:40

I hate those stripes tops with flowers all over them! Agree it’s quite frumpy. I have the odd thing from there but bought in the sale, the quality is generally not worth the prices they charge.
