We haven't here.
It still doesn't feel cold enough in the house for me. Although ours neighbours is on (which probably keeps us warmer).

Been on once for a couple of hours to dry washing but other than that, no. To be fair its still quite mild here but we have been wearing big oodie type tops and fleece leggings.

Arnaquer · 18/10/2022 08:43

I haven't but still quite mild here

crossstitchingnana · 18/10/2022 08:43

Yes, last week. It's dipped to 5 degrees here a couple of times (south coast).

Username917778 · 18/10/2022 08:44

We got home from holiday last night and the house was 11°c so I broke and set it to 16°c. Very jealous of all the mild temperatures, not the case in North Scotland!

mamabear715 · 18/10/2022 08:45

No, @FayeGovan am in the North but not as you know it!
It's the damp that gets to you, isn't it? Seems to seep into your very bones. :-(

asdasult · 18/10/2022 08:45

5 degrees here right now. Was colder overnight.

Heating was on in the room I was in last night and will be on in that room today as I wfh and have medical issues.

For an hour first thing. That's it. Tho the last two days it hasn't kicked in as house still 18.

This is what we are doing

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 18/10/2022 08:47

Not yet. I think I am finally a Grown Up as instead of automatically flicking it on as soon as I feel a bit nippy I put a jumper on. No more swanning around in pants and T-shirts in my house! I am wearing a fleecy dressing gown for the first time in nearly 20 years, have a hot water bottle at night and pop my electric throw in the sofa on when it feels just too cold. Also in a new build. Mid terrace too 😉Wondering how long I can hold out…

ChakaKhanfan · 18/10/2022 08:47

No not here, despite it being 7 degrees outside in the morning. We live in a new build second floor flat, and the back of the flat is just glass so that keeps us pretty warm. I don’t think we will need it much at all- thank goodness we moved in the summer, our old flat was damp in every room

Bedtimeforever · 18/10/2022 08:47

Tried to avoid it but 1yo’s nose was red and he sits shivering sometimes even though he’s wrapped warm and its around 17. So I do put it on every morning as it just helps throughout the day.

PositiveLife · 18/10/2022 08:48

I've not put it on but I think the neighbours have, which has kept mine warmer

Devo1818 · 18/10/2022 08:48

We haven't really felt the need yet. A couple of chilly mornings we might have in the past but we have thick socks and oodies so have been alright so far. We are in London and it has been a very mild October so far, haven't even noticed a frost yet.

Comedycook · 18/10/2022 08:49

No not yet...in London in a relatively modern house. The weather is still quite mild...was 18 degrees and sunny yesterday. Evening does feel a little chilly but nothing that can't be solved by putting on a dressing gown or an extra layer.

marsbara · 18/10/2022 08:50

No, been serving really happily with a heated throw. They really are a game changer!

Ragwort · 18/10/2022 08:51

No but it is still quite mild here. Did put an electric fire on briefly on Sunday as my elderly DM was visiting. I did sit down to watch tv last night and the room was very 'cool' but a quick blast from the electric heater (literally five minutes) and it was fine for the rest of the evening. (But I do go to bed with a hot water bottle at about 9.45 Grin).

inheritanceshiteagain · 18/10/2022 08:52

Couple of hours in the morning this month if it kicks in but otherwise not. Set the thermometer to 18 to see how it goes. 16 in here at the moment and quite warm in cosy dressing gown.

SandraOMG · 18/10/2022 08:53

I've put mine on once so far since last winter. We don't need it usually, but my little one is off school sick today so I'm putting it on this morning. It's meat to get warmer here later, so ot certainly won't be on all day

mistermagpie · 18/10/2022 08:53

No we haven't. We're in Scotland but it's not been below 10 degrees really. I have two fleeces on right now though!! I'm hoping to make it to November.

Shinyhappyperson22 · 18/10/2022 08:54

We’ve had it on for half an hour when the in laws came round. It heated up the house very quickly. While the house is chilly at 16.5 now it warms up to 18 as the day goes on. We only heat to 19 ish anyway. So it’s fine for now. Would rather spend on heating when it’s freezing and more needed. Blankets and jumpers are fine. .

OhTheLeetleHandsAndFeetle · 18/10/2022 08:56

Avoided it so far. House well insulated and warms up really well when the sun is out. A few chilly evenings, but we have just put on extra layers.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 18/10/2022 08:56

coodawoodashooda · 18/10/2022 08:17

I had to. The house was damp.

Ventilation is more important. You must ventilate first!

We do that too.

Notjusta · 18/10/2022 08:58

Not yet - SE here and although it's about 6/7 degrees this morning the forecast for the next week looks like temperature won't go below 11ish day or night. I think we'll get to November. I do however need to open all the doors and windows for half an hour today when it's warmer as the humidity level on my thermometer is very high and I'm worried about damp.

astoundedgoat · 18/10/2022 08:59

We lit the stove for a few evenings week before last when it was oddly cold. It's been fine since. It was 16 degrees this morning though (3 degrees outside) and I put the heating on for half an hour or so to take the edge off. Only a handful of radiators are turned on but it cost 60p I think!

It's 17.8 degrees in here now and that's fine. It's going to be mild til at least next Thursday according to my weather app, so I doubt I'll need it on again this month.

OhNoOhDearOh · 18/10/2022 08:59

Nope. It’s cold in the morning but then gets very pleasant. Although I am window vaccing every morning!
