We haven't here.
It still doesn't feel cold enough in the house for me. Although ours neighbours is on (which probably keeps us warmer).

Nope. Currently 22 degrees where I'm working in my bedroom, and that's with the window open! Perfectly lovely!

WireSkills · 18/10/2022 10:12

Ours is "on" but controlled by the low set thermostat so it doesn't actually turn on some days, depending on the overall temperature in the house. An hour in the morning and 90 mins in the evening. I noticed it on this morning, but not yesterday.

Our smart meter says we used £2.30 of electric and gas yesterday, which is pretty good considering DH works from home on computer equipment all day. He has taken heed of my moans and is putting a jumper on, rather than the heating. He did want to put the heating on at the weekend, but I pointed at the thermometer in the lounge and said if it was 20 degrees outside he wouldn't be putting a jumper on...

Mascia · 18/10/2022 10:14

We haven’t, but it’s been very mild here.

Ariela · 18/10/2022 10:16

Normally a minimum 12° difference between inside and out in cooler weather by morning, and given daytime was 20° here, so no. Needs external temperature of freezing overnight to get internal cool enough.

sleepismyhobby · 18/10/2022 10:16

Me trying to hold of till November if we can. We have a freezing house once the sunsets but we have cosy blankets and wheat packs coping fine just now

Sn0tnose · 18/10/2022 11:11

We haven’t. We’re in the se and it has been really mild. It’s currently sunny and warm outside and I’m wfh in short sleeves. It also helps that we live in one of those sweatbox HA flats. It’s unbearable in the summer but lovely, cosy and very cheap in the winter.

Jellycatspyjamas · 18/10/2022 11:19

Ours is on for an hour in the morning - it was 5 degrees outside here last night and 12.5 degrees inside when I woke. I take the chill off in the morning then we’re fine until later in the evening when I pop it on again for half an hour. So far that’s worked fine, we’re up and busy during the day so tend to keep warm anyway.

murasaki · 18/10/2022 11:23

Not yet, South London..but DP is nesh despite being northern, so probably soon. And he does get up super early for work so we may need to for that.

serenghetti2011 · 18/10/2022 11:26

Not yet, north Scotland, I’ve got a fairly warm house. It has been a little chilly but nothing a jumper and fleecy blanket doesn’t sort out. If ir was really cold it would go on. Probably will once kids go back to school as early mornings are getting somewhat cold for kids

Pixiedust1234 · 18/10/2022 11:29

Nope. Still having windows open all day too. Its starting to dip around six but dinner then snuggled under a blanket to watch TV is fine atm.

GlistersisnotGold · 18/10/2022 11:42

It’s all about the thermostat so it did kick in for a couple of hours this morning, thermostat is set at 18 daytime and on frost setting for overnight. Not likely yet but in the depths of winter frozen pipes are a worry.

lavenderfine · 18/10/2022 11:57

Not yet. Can feel it a bit in the evenings now but I usually get in bed to watch tv after the kids go to sleep so I'm toasty under my big quilt. We aren't in much of a day as I go to play groups with DD and DS is at school. Our house is quite well insulated too which helps keep it warm. Our old house was awful for keeping heat in and we would have definitely had to have it on by now if we still lived there!

Thelnebriati · 18/10/2022 12:12

We still haven't won the lottery so no. Hasn't stopped them putting my DD up again this month.

Ladywiddio48 · 18/10/2022 12:14

Not on here,in the Midlands.

PolkaDotMankini · 18/10/2022 12:18

Not yet. It hasn't been cold enough (Bedfordshire). I WFH so have been wearing an Oodie when it's got a bit nippy during the day.

MrsDThomas · 18/10/2022 12:20

No heatating here. Detached very old stone cottage.

DD in her room under the duvet or in the gym.

dS under his duvet with his PS4

me and DH in the living room under a blanket.

Inclinedtochatter · 18/10/2022 12:52

Not yet it's still quite mild here in Hull. We actually slept with the bedroom window wide open last night. Plenty of blankets and throws in the living room though for when the temperature drops.

MadisonAvenue · 18/10/2022 12:55

We haven’t, we’re in the Midlands. My husband is usually the first one wanting to put it on once we get to October while I’ll try and stretch it out as long as possible but he said the other day that he’s seeing it as a challenge to see how long we can go before switching it on this year. I’m happy to go along with that.

Scottishskifun · 18/10/2022 12:56

Nope but we have a wood burner which we have been using instead as it can heat the house

VerbenaGirl · 18/10/2022 17:07

Still holding out here. Being peri menopausal really helps though! Plus I bought a lovely new blanket for the sofa.

Sunshineismyfriend · 18/10/2022 17:14

Had it on twice for an hour each time but only because people were coming round. Other than that we’ve put on our oodies and then been fine. Wonder how much longer that will work for.

Spikeyball · 18/10/2022 17:38

It came on accidently when I left the windows open and went out but other than that no. It's set at 18 in day time and 16 at night.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 18/10/2022 17:44

Northern England and no. It’s not been necessary yet.

mrsjimhopper · 18/10/2022 18:19

No heating but had the fire on a few times

Warm house and mild weather. East Midlands

balalake · 18/10/2022 18:24

A couple of evenings last week for about half hour, that's all.
