Just wanted to say how elegant & these women are. They're not in the spotlight as much but they loved their grandmother & grandfather. I'm sure they are very proud of the lovely women they have grown into.

I think Zara and Peter have had an amazing deal with the press compared to the others, except Lady Louise and Viscount Severn who are too young.

Peter - lives on his mum's estate, never had a job that looked like he didn't get it because of his mum, cashed in on his royal connections with ads in China. Yet manages to be Prince Philip's favourite grandson and apart for a few minutes never gets the trashing any of the women do.

Zara - has short but highly successful career in eventing. Now has sponsorships all over the shop that more successful riders would kill for. Again, it's not because of her career but her royal connections.

Beatrice, Eugenie, Meghan, Harry must look on completely bewildered.

Zara Tindall is most def. still out eventing at a high level, she's been competing multiple horses every year since she was a teenager. She was at Burghley this month in the 5*. She may well have financial backing that others envy, but she is a very hard working, professional rider.

I find it disappointing that the 3 of them didn’t walk behind the coffin. If Anne can do it, why not the granddaughters. They would have to ditch the high heels though.

MaChienEstUnDick · 20/09/2022 13:40

I like that the Yorks are young, wealthy women having a bit of fun with fashion. I cannot bear the way they're slagged off when it goes 'wrong' (and remember, 'wrong' just means 'we managed to get a bad photo of it' in this context, I suspect IRL most of their clothes are just fine). Auctioning off the wedding hat really got me on side too, I thought it was funny and cheeky.

Shapeshifter5 · 20/09/2022 13:42

I read Camilla had broken her toe just before the queen died, sge did appear to be wearing flats.
Kate quite rightly stayed with thr children who needed her, it would have been much too long for them.

Out of interest did Anne's children attend a private school?

Gordonstoun, I believe.

GrazingSheep · 20/09/2022 13:46

@Shapeshifter5
Yes - they went to Gordonstoun.

Shapeshifter5 · 20/09/2022 13:47

I needn't ask about the Yorks... Andrew wouldn't stoop to a state school for his princesses 😜

When Harry was told he couldn't be half in half out, he must look at the likes of Zara and think WTF?

Zara has no royal titles and is not a working royal. She can do what she wants.

WitTanks · 20/09/2022 13:48

I believe Zara and Peter Phillips went to their village state school for infant education. I seem to remember a big thing being made about it in the media at the time, about them going to 'normal' schools

Gordonstoun - an ex-boyfriend of mine was in the same year as Peter Phillips (apparently nice enough, good rugby player, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer).

Somethingneedstochange · 20/09/2022 13:52

I've always admired Zara from when I was and she was a child and first noticed her on the balcony at Andrew and Fergies wedding. I remember asking my mum who she was and she explained she's princess Anne's daughter. She's 3 year's younger than me.

It seems strange I have watched her grow up and feel like I know her. I agree about her dress style. I am sure she enjoys getting dressed up when she's not doing her equestrian work. She's a beautiful elegant lady.

SpinCityBlues · 20/09/2022 13:53

I'd like them all to be in a docuseries where they do 'life swaps' for six weeks, where the scenario is that each couple's living in a very ordinary small terraced house (not some massive gaff in Chelsea, I mean ordinary) and both halves of the couples work in, say, schools or the NHS and are on those wages, and they need to use childcare paid for out of that budget (or get the grandparents to do it), and see how they get on.

I thought all the Royal women looked amazing yesterday. Very smart and elegant

I thought so too.

diddl · 20/09/2022 14:01

I also wonder with Z, B & E if they are not particularly interested in clothes/fashion?

Not sure about B&E's mum, but Anne strikes me as dressing in stuff that she likes & does the job!

Some of the outfits that they wear- I wonder if they are loaned or heavily discounted by designers for the publicity?

The hat at W&K's wedding-wtf was the designer thinking?

maranella · 20/09/2022 14:03

Mind you that's wasn't surprising when their mother used to dress like an East End barmaid that had won the Lottery.

😂😂😂

So true! Poor old Fergie never managed to look dignified and I have no idea why - she must've had access to the same staff as everyone else when she was royal.

I thought Kate looked fabulous yesterday - whoever dresses her is top notch. Her whole outfit was amazing from the hat to the dress to the shoes and accessories.

MeridianB · 20/09/2022 14:07

"wasn't surprising when their mother used to dress like an East End barmaid that had won the Lottery."

Killer line!

I'm pleased to see that the York girls have learned to dress better, at last. They went through a stage of looking quite bizarre.

Zara had a good role model from the start.

Know plenty of east end barmaids used to be one , none of dressed like Fergie . Lottery or no lottery

oldperson1 · 20/09/2022 14:08

None of them

I wondered about that hat at the time, surely he didn't think it looked good ! At least it provided a talking point and raised a lot for charity when she auctioned it. Their mother also had some memorable faux pas, is anyone else old enough to remember the orange duvet she wore??

Anne seems very practical & I would imagine her dressing for the weather & for function over fashion.

I’ve always thought Princess Beatrice looks like Queen Victoria.
Everybody looked very elegant and dignified yesterday I thought.

I have always thought this too! She has the exact same eyes and mouth. The Winterhalter painting of Victoria with her hair over her shoulders really shows the resemblance. I also think little Charlotte looks like early photographs of the Queen Mother.

Ponderingwindow · 20/09/2022 14:09

Eugenia’s wedding dress was gorgeous. It suited her perfectly.

I do wonder if the treatment the grandchildren have received in the press is correlated with their titles. “Princess” makes for a much more eye-catching headline and criticizing a Princess all the better. If the article has to remind you which one Peter is again, it’s not going to grab readers attention as easily.

Anyone agree?

I like them.

Shapeshifter5 · 20/09/2022 14:10

I have memories of B&E & Fergie also from when I was young..they seemed to be always skiing!
