So few members of public lining the route

What do you mean? My family is there - not me. It is packed.

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 12:40

That view under the arch is beautiful

CousinKrispy · 19/09/2022 12:40

Oh that IS a squeeze!!

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 12:40

I do feel sorry for the Duke of Gloucester. He's done a lot of walking/marching over the past few days

Me too. I wonder if he's going all the way to Marble Arch? Bit of a trek

littlbrowndog · 19/09/2022 12:41

Beautiful procession

The weather has been amazing throughout.

StartupRepair · 19/09/2022 12:41

Utterly beautiful service. It was the minutr's silence shown in so many places that made me cry.

Whatthetrolley · 19/09/2022 12:41

The heels some of the women walking - I'm in awe. I was in London yesterday, 15.000 steps in my Sketchers and blisters everywhere.

RAFOfficer · 19/09/2022 12:41

They’ll have selected out anyone too erm, wide from the gun carriage party as well…

What are you going on about? There are thousands of people there! The route is long and there will be cut off points in terms of the numbers and depth of people for security reasons.

Yes, that was a lovely moment.

I thought it was a beautiful ceremony for her pubic side. Don't think there was any need for the eulogy that others expected.

I hate to give them airtime, prefer to ignore them, but did any one else notice that Harry and Megan did not sing to God Save the King?

I thought I saw lots of people not signing God Save the King!

MogHog · 19/09/2022 12:42

The Mounties are on the last 4 of the horses alive which were gifted to the Queen and they live here.

Presumably when they list who is in each car, they also mean husbands and children as appropriate? (Ie Louise and James with Sophie and Meghan, and Beatrice and Eugenies husbands in with them?)

I like this March, this sounds like the Beethoven again maybe

Generally they don’t, it’s usually a complete list of who is in each car.

This is beautiful. Centuries of finely honed tradition and ceremony immaculately executed.

Isn’t it incredible?

MrsFezziwig · 19/09/2022 12:42

The processional music has been fantastic. The repetitive beating of the drums really gives me goosebumps.

I'm no royalist but this is pretty amazing. Very beautifully done.

All the law ceremonies are the reason we still have a monarch. Like I said before I don’t know how people back in the days with no forms of media. The royals were extremely private, yet people were so happy to go along with it.

The weather has been amazing throughout.

I wonder if they take this into account when chosing the day for the funeral

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 12:43

They must have security forces and snipers on every building.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 19/09/2022 12:43

Will the king have two birthdays too? Like his mum did?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/09/2022 12:43

Random question, why are the sailors holding hands?

JustLyra · 19/09/2022 12:43

The staff lined up outside Buckingham palace is such a lovely touch

Yep - it's to absorb any spillages from the four-legged crew members.

The phrase "pee like a racehorse" exists for a reason!😉

I would say that the horses are very very very unlikely to do a Number One; up to a point they can be trained not to, and most won't whilst being ridden. More chance of some Number Twos though, although might be minimised with training/diet management.

Someone asked on the other thread if the RCMP hoses had been brought over specially. The answer is no, they have been gifts over the years from Canada, Their names are Elizabeth (for the Queen Mother), George, Sir John, and Darby, They have all had important jobs otherwise. So so beautiful - and doing the slow walk very well.

(Burmese was of course, the first horse given to the Queen by the RCMP.)
