Thanks @KenAdams — I didn’t think I was a monarchist but what a spectacle this is. I’m watching it on my own (with two dogs) and it’s been a bit lonely without anyone to gossip/gasp with, so being part of this thread has been grand. The only other interaction I’ve had is telling the terrier to belt up when he kicked off at the Mounties 😅

Sorry if this has been answered already but what is the sand for? To stop them slipping/absorb something from the horses??

I think it is on the turns to stop horses etc slipping. They've covered manholes etc with it too.

Yep - it's to absorb any spillages from the four-legged crew members.

The phrase "pee like a racehorse" exists for a reason!😉

I like that BBC is keeping the commentary down a bit.

I thought it was a beautiful ceremony for her pubic side. Don't think there was any need for the eulogy that others expected.

I hate to give them airtime, prefer to ignore them, but did any one else notice that Harry and Megan did not sing to God Save the King?

Hell of a typo 🫢

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 12:33

I don't think there is tons of people there as you see so much more on TV. And it's hard work being there in the centre of town with all the crowds (I was up there at the weekend).

Rainbowqueeen · 19/09/2022 12:33

Are Camilla and Kate and the children in the car at the back of the procession?

I was just wondering how easy it is to get up.
I have to drive home through to all later.

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 19/09/2022 12:34

Oomph the flags being lowered to the ground hit a nerve.

Benefi · 19/09/2022 12:34

I won’t speak about this subject anymore today. You've said that twice already.

RunningFromInsanity · 19/09/2022 12:34

Are Camilla and Kate and the children in the car at the back of the procession?

Yes - just seen them

QuebecBagnet · 19/09/2022 12:35

The children are obviously under instructions not to wave.

Are Camilla and Kate and the children in the car at the back of the procession?

Yes. Sophie and Meghan are in the second car

inigomontoyahwillcox · 19/09/2022 12:35

It always amazes me that the horses keep so composed and calm when they have so much going on around them, including guns and bells going off sporadically. Of course, I appreciate they are trained and desensitised to the max, but even so.

RoachTheHorse · 19/09/2022 12:35

This is beautiful. Centuries of finely honed tradition and ceremony immaculately executed.

I can see loads.

I can see loads too. I’m sure numbers will be restricted to what is safe, they’re not just going to allow people to cram in. Latecomers will just have to find somewhere else to stand.

One thing I dislike the little respect the “other commonwealth countries” seem to get. The media does realise there are more countries in the commonwealth than Australia, Canada and New Zealand? they seem to be the only countries they the media seem to notice and let’s not act like it’s some strange coincidence.

I won’t speak about this subject anymore today.

Yet you wrote this exact post on the first thread...

BruceAndNosh · 19/09/2022 12:36

This is all stunning and regal.

As a resident of South West London, I can say it is going to get substantially less glamorous in the next hour or so...

Sunbird24 · 19/09/2022 12:36

The music is lovely, right mix of solemn but a bit uplifting

So proud of all the troops there today. They are doing an amazing job.

MiceInTgeHouse · 19/09/2022 12:36

Does anyone know if the Mounties are on their own horses?

LetMeSpeak · 19/09/2022 12:36

I’m Charlotte just waved then
