IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

@OneFrenchEgg

"Just read Harry and Meghan have been disinvited to the evening state vip posh dignitaries bash on Sunday night. Which just underlines how ridiculous it is to have a Royal Family and a family all mixed up. So his dad and brother are Working Royals and get to go and have sympathies etc but he doesn't because that not his job. Ridiculous"

This is really good point and one you almost never hear .
Family feuds and mud slinging and also head of state .
Bringing the reputation of the UK into disrepute . How very professional

Octomore · 17/09/2022 20:18

They're probably relieved they don't have to go. The family aren't going to be getting genuine sympathy and comfort from the attendees there, are they? It's a state occasion, not a personal one.

The whole thing is funked up though. The family members are in a gilded cage, and the backlash if they dare to step outside it is horrendous. The public will pretend to love them, but only as long as they don't stay within a very prescribed set of behaviours and roles.

One of the charges I've seen levelled at Harry is that he's ungrateful. What exactly should he be grateful for? His upbringing has give him mental health issues, and he never asked for any of it.

User14379 · 17/09/2022 20:19

I would get rid of all of them but I dont get the hate for Harry and Meghan, they are no worse than the others.

I would just keep harry and megs to annoy everyone 😅

Very true I watched the controversial Oprah interview with them and Meghan was saying she was told she had to curtsy to the Queen and she said to Harry but she, s your gran ( or words to that affect) and her said yes but she's the Queen! So sycophantic of them all!

That expression "working royals" makes me laugh. I mean not one of them have got a day's work in them. I think it's despicable to leave Harry and Meghan out on the grounds of not being "working royals".

Novella4 · 17/09/2022 20:50

Why do you think the royals repeatedly use the term ' working royals'
More conditioning

swedex · 17/09/2022 20:51

I just turned on bbc and saw the grandchildrens vigil what the actual??? That is insane! How weirdly mawkish to want to queue for 14 hours and then walk past a coffin surrounded by that persons grandchildren. I can't imagine anyone else's funeral where you would do that??! The whole thing is batshit thank you for a place to say it!

Novella4 · 17/09/2022 20:51

You'll hear royalists parrot back how 'hard working ' the royals are .
They swallow the line completely.

Novella4 · 17/09/2022 20:52

@swedex
They are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it

Welll exactly its easy to attend all their hundreds of appointments and smiles and say a few nice words but they have the privilege of teams around them making sure they have nice clothes ,nice hair having their whim seen too it's not like doing a 13 hr shift with no breaks is it and then having to come home to whinging kids

As I used to say a lot, I work very hard for charity and have for 30 years. No one gives me palaces and landrovers.

Octomore · 17/09/2022 21:16

And hundreds of appointment =/= hundreds of days of work. Some of those appointments are less than an hour long, or done by phone etc.

For most normal adults, "working" is something you do for 35-40 hrs a week, roughly 46 weeks a year (taking bank holidays into account). And when they're not working, normal people have to organise their own travel bookings, work clothes, haircuts, life admin, commuting, DIY, getting the car MOT'ed, cooking dinner, somehow fitting in housework as well, childcare etc. etc.

Royals do engagements, sure, but almost everything else on the list above is taken care of by someone else. They're not stood in front of the fridge after a long shift wondering what they can cobble together for dinner.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 17/09/2022 21:21

Exactly; I mean, didn't the Queen spend a good few months each year at Balmoral, on holiday? That's not something anyone most of us have the opportunity to do.

And even when we are on holiday, we still have life's usual chores and responsibilities; they have none, or the bare minimum, every day of the year.

Well exactly I can make a Fairly decent cottage pie in 30 minutes, assuming I have alm the ingredients in an I cheat with frozen veg and frozen mash ,but Kates not going to be thinking George doesn't like the mash and Charlotte won't eat the veg and Louis doesn't like onions is she

YogaLite · 17/09/2022 21:37

@swedex, the grandchildren, it's all about PR to get the plebs on their side.

OneFrenchEgg · 17/09/2022 21:40

The vigils are so random anyway. 15 minutes here and there, not related to the funeral in any way. Just randomly standing there to be gawped at by the gawping grief monkeys

Octomore · 17/09/2022 21:42

They need this spectacle and pantomime. Without it, the head of state becomes just another job. And who needs a hereditary monarchy for that?

Octomore · 17/09/2022 21:43

I can make a Fairly decent cottage pie in 30 minutes

Impressive!

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 17/09/2022 21:44

Honestly how is 15 minutes a vigil? It's a drive by griefshow.

Octomore · 17/09/2022 21:47

The pantomime is also why they will never, ever abdicate. If you can choose to retire, then (again) being Head of State is just another job. They need people to buy into the mythology of it, the lifelong duty, the solemn promises etc.

I actually feel sorry for all of them. They have unimaginable wealth, but the most constrained lives. Anyone with an independent spirit would not be happy living as they do. A living museum.

It's all about the frozen mash it's a game changer 🤣

OneFrenchEgg · 17/09/2022 22:04

Longer than a vigil even.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 17/09/2022 22:04

Ironically it would have been better for them all if the Queen had died 20-30 years ago. There would be less of a feeling of permanence and lifelong service about them. Her 70 year reign means they can never be seen to fall short of trying to be as good, as dedicated, as selfless as she was.

🙄
