That’s Queen consort, of course, but that idea is going to take a lot of getting used to.

I don’t like her, but then again I don’t like Charles. But whatever any of us think or want, she will be the Queen consort, and we will have to accept it. I think though there will be a lot of change in how the RF operates, as whilst there has always been a lot of love for the Queen, there’s not that much affection for Charles and Camilla, and changes will be needed for the RF to survive over the next decades.

So be it!

it is about 35 years since she was ''the OW''. Like, who wants to be held responsible for things they did even ten years ago. not that she's looking for my forgiveness, but I forgive her :-p

Anybody who is still waving a pitchfork at her must be living on a knife edge

It’s her chance to redeem
herself, and she’ll be very good at that.

What are you talking about?

LazyDaisy22 · 08/09/2022 19:52

I think both Charles and Camilla will do very well. Camilla has been, and will continue to be, a great support for Charles.

stillvicarinatutu · 08/09/2022 19:53

If Charles had been left to choose his own wife all those years ago no one would be batting an eyelid .

She should always have been his wife .
What happened was very sad but also very human .

They seem really happy together. Leave em be . He's mourning his mum and her her mum in law who accepted her despite the scandals .

She seems lovely.

Lovely, are you kidding. She had an affair with Charles while he was married to Diana, nothing lovely about that.

cynthiasrevels · 08/09/2022 19:54

No, historically Queen is the title of the wife of the King, and where a King has been hereditary sovereign his wife has never previously been defined as 'Queen consort'. Queens used to be crowned with the King, and if they were second wives separately (Anne Boleyn, for example). This title reflects the hostility people have felt about Camilla in years past, and perhaps the fact that she is Charles's second wife. The notion of a 'King consort' only emerged because of concerns that Prince Albert/Prince Philip couldn't possibly be titled 'King' as that title assumes sovereignty, whereas that of Queen does not.

I quite agree. The nation needs to move on.

tillytoodles1 · 08/09/2022 19:54

I like Camilla. Charles never loved Diana, she was there to provide him with an heir, nothing more. He adored Camilla and if he wasn't heir to the throne no-one would have cared, but he was and she wasn't suitable for him. She has tried very hard to get the public to like her and she's never put a foot wrong.

Silly question sorry but will they change the coins

Any new coins produced will have King Charles on them. Existing coins with QE2 will remain in circulation and we’ll be using them for decades to come.

Queen Consort is the title given to the wife of a King.

You either have to be a queen in your own right (Elizabeth I, Victoria and Elizabeth II) or have a coronation so you rule as equals with the King. Most Kings don't like to share that "power".

Sorry, my post was a response to this.

KezzabellaB · 08/09/2022 19:56

Good. I think she's lovely

Chocoholic1972 · 08/09/2022 19:57

I have no problem with that

Wouldloveanother · 08/09/2022 19:58

You don’t have to hate Camilla to still feel love and affected for Lady Di. Both women were somewhat victims of ‘royalty’, not able to be authentic or live the lives they wanted to. I think she’s a good fit for Queen Consort.

Janie94 · 08/09/2022 19:59

Love her to bits!

LoveHamble · 08/09/2022 19:59

Whether you like Charles or not, he has been preaching about climate change and sustainability for many years, and was ahead of the crowd by some years on those issues.

Glenthebattleostrich · 08/09/2022 19:59

Midsomerwine · 08/09/2022 19:53

Lovely, are you kidding. She had an affair with Charles while he was married to Diana, nothing lovely about that.

And Diana was shagging around too, she was very far from an angel too. It was a toxic marriage and should never have happened or at the very least have ended far sooner.

Personally I quite like Camilla and of course she should be Queen Consort.

Spanielsarepainless · 08/09/2022 20:01

That's good. Camilla has proved herself more than up to supporting the new King and her sense should tone down some of his more unusual ideas. The late Queen wanted Camilla to be Queen Consort and we don't have morganatic marriage in this country.

AuntMasha · 08/09/2022 20:02

I quite like her. She seems human, empathetic and importantly, she has a sense of humour and I suspect can laugh at herself.

meateatingveggie · 08/09/2022 20:02

If Camilla does as well as Queen and she has D of C she will be excellent in the role.

I'm happy Charles has her with him.

PomRuns · 08/09/2022 20:03

She seems lovely. .

SparkyBlue · 08/09/2022 20:07

I really like her. I actually really like him as well.

GoingOnce · 08/09/2022 20:07

I like Camilla.

Lots of people have affairs. Life is long and complicated. People are complicated.

Underthehills · 08/09/2022 20:07

The Queen rules in her own right because she inherited the role of sovereign. Camilla is the wife of the King but does not rule. Like Victoria and Albert or Her Majesty and Prince Philip. With the exception of William and Mary there have never been joint monarchs, only sovereigns and consorts.

MrsMontyD · 08/09/2022 20:08

@OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit I'm older than you and I don't remember pre decimalisation coins in circulation. Shops and banks started taking them out of circulation on 15th February 1971, if you are 49 you weren't born until 1973. All decimalised coins had the Queen on.
