Duvet covers of the 80’s

Just looking at my dog sleeping on his bed & I'm reminded of the ‘snatch’ duvet cover I had in the 80’s.
Which then made me remember the cartoon worzel gummidge & aunt sally one I had.
The pillowslip had worzel one side & aunt sally the other. Sadly I can’t find a pic of it, did anyone else have it?
I also had a Victoria Plum one with matching curtains as a small child.

Any other classics I’ve missed?

Sorry, that was supposed to be in reply to @Caroffee !

Yellow and grey

or red and grey

Geometric patterns. They were the bees knees!

I got my first duvet and cover (white with pastel blue-green-pink flecks, very 80s) from Guiney’s in Dublin and very proud I was, too.
DSis had the Edwardian Lady pottery.

I love that wallpaper, reminds me I also had a toadstool fairy lamp.

kwaziseyepatch · 07/09/2022 21:20

@maddiemookins16mum
I had that exact pillowcase, we had another wombles one too. I had completely forgotten all about it until I saw that picture Grin

CockysGirl · 07/09/2022 21:21

Oh no! I loved mine and have very fond memories of my Pierrot childhood bedroom, sorry you were traumatised by yours 😢 @OnTheBoardwalk

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 07/09/2022 21:21

I had this Sarah Kay set when I was a child in the 80s. I loved that duvet cover 💕

I had a peach coloured Garfield one, and before that a Holly Hobby. My brother had Playboy at one point, he was too young to understand what it meant, and my mum claims not to have known (think she got it in the sale at M&S). Before that, I think he had the Paddington one that someone posted.

I loved my Garfield one and kept it for years, think I just got rid of it about a year ago as realised it was never going to be used again.

@Bitterbean @takingmytimeonmyride my 9yo is also currently in bed with this design on their pillowcase!

ShirleyJackson · 07/09/2022 21:27

This is my favourite thread in ages. I had Marilyn Monroe, Garfield, and possibly a Sarah Kay one.

My best friend had the Pierrot from upthread. Real nostalgia.

80s to 90s, I had a Noah's ark one and my DB and I had matching blue covers with a cartoon bear's body on one side and stripes with lots of little teddy bears on the other. The pillow was the bear's face, one side awake and the other sleeping.

And big sort of dusty pink blankets under the sheet and over the quilt in winter.

When we moved house I had an ikea set and my cartoon-y flowers wallpaper and border were used in a flat in coronation street!

ILV · 07/09/2022 21:28

@woodhill we had the Sanderson hippos too - reversible with a big picture on one side and repeating pattern on the other. My mum will still have them I’m sure!

grafittiartist · 07/09/2022 21:30

Thank you for this thread- lovely memories!!

Offredismysister · 07/09/2022 21:33

I might start one on 80’s/90’s toys.
Big Yellow Teapot anyone!

I had purple Groovy Chick bedding. Probably 1997-
Loved it.

We were never allowed character bedding. Am so jealous of all of you who had a Rainbow Brite duvet cover 🌈🌟😭

This is DS's bed currently with my brother's bedding on it. Amazing how long these sets last and how well they wash etc.

I had this boring floral one.

@AreolaGrande I had the exact same set as your red one, but in navy blue!

Anyone asking about the candy stripe bedding, you can still get it online, I bought some a few years ago in brushed cotton for the winter. Quality wasn’t up to much but was great for the nostalgia factor 😎

ThistleSifter · 07/09/2022 21:42

Glow worms sleeping bag that glowed in the dark

DotBall · 07/09/2022 21:42

Timmy mallet in a small child's bed ? Absolutely wouldn't be allowed in this day and age.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 07/09/2022 21:43

I had Rainbow Brite and matching Rainbow Brite wallpaper.

My older sister was married in late 70s and I got her bedroom. My parents redecorated in a fab cream and wine flowered range from Linda Beard and I got new white formica wardrobe and drawers from MFI

Flashback! I remember having this also! Obviously once I'd grown out of Paddington and Victoria Plum.

maddiemookins16mum · 07/09/2022 21:15

But this was my favourite, I still have it.

@maddiemookins16mum I have that same pillowcase still and others which are very similar!

Yes, my daughters used it as well
