Duvet covers of the 80’s

Just looking at my dog sleeping on his bed & I'm reminded of the ‘snatch’ duvet cover I had in the 80’s.
Which then made me remember the cartoon worzel gummidge & aunt sally one I had.
The pillowslip had worzel one side & aunt sally the other. Sadly I can’t find a pic of it, did anyone else have it?
I also had a Victoria Plum one with matching curtains as a small child.

Any other classics I’ve missed?

Care Bears!

Bobbins36 · 07/09/2022 20:17

Pierrot 😂😂😂 would give me the fear now.

Joolsin · 07/09/2022 20:18

My friend had red/black patterned bedding and matching curtains and wallpaper - migraine inducing. Something like this, as far as I remember.

Pierrot! Yes I’d forgotten about that, my best friend had it.

I really wish I could find a pic of the worzel one, I loved it.

Truly the best thread ever Grin

Sarah Kay...what a blast from the past! And Pierrot and Holly Hobbie! Wowzers.

My neighbour had a Victoria Plum themed room, I mean not just the bedding but literally everything. I was so jealous.

I had tasteful clouds and rainbows with the obligatory matching curtains...actually they'd be right up my 11 year old dd's street if I still had them now!

Cakecakecheese · 07/09/2022 20:23

My sister is called Holly and she had the Hollie Hobbie duvet. I remember having a Paddington Bear one.

LIZS · 07/09/2022 20:23

Snoopy and Paddington

NeedAHoliday2021 · 07/09/2022 20:24

I had a pink snatch the dog one with matching bean bag cover! I loved it so much.

I had this "country diary of an Edwardian lady" with matching curtains if you please.

I would love that 😃

I had this in my bedroom too! My Mum went crazy for everything matching too.
I still have my blue 'Snatch' one as well 😂 it's lovely and soft - I put it on DD's bed for several years.
If that wasn't enough, when we cleared MIL's house after she moved into a care home, I came across some lovely vintage stripey flannelette sheets.

I still use my mums (actually maybe she got them from her mum 😂) old striped flannelette sheets, super cosy in winter 👍

I was so spoiled! I had Pierrot, Victoria Plum and Snatch at different times. I loved Victoria Plum so much but Pierrot was a whole theme. My DM worked for Fads the decorators and so themed shit was IN! Borders, fabrics, tie backs, the lot. So very 80's.

My mum had this set too!

I had the Snatch set in peach rather than blue or pink.

Petrarkanian · 07/09/2022 20:30

I had a Fungus The Bogeyman one.

woodhill · 07/09/2022 20:31

Think I had an Emma duvet by Laura Ashley

FredGarland · 07/09/2022 20:36

Holly Hobby
Victoria Plum
Rainbow Brite
Pink and grey stripes, although I really wanted yellow and grey stripes like my friend Victoria. She had matching curtains too. I had a grey blind.

I also vividly remember pretending my duvet was a land of rolling hills and valleys and so on.

basilmint · 07/09/2022 20:37

I am jealous. I just had garish flowery ones that my Mum bought in the 70s.

I had this too, with matching wallpaper and a green, watered silk venetian blind. I was grown up with a mortgage, hence no Holly Hobby!

Bbq1 · 07/09/2022 20:37

Circa 1989,sun and moon designs were everywhere. I loved them and had a duvet corner in a sun and moon print.

BusyBeaMe · 07/09/2022 20:38

a pink dotty Snatch and Co
Forever Friends
Holly Hobbie (that was my original I think, more of a bedspread as it had tassles on it)

MorrisZapp · 07/09/2022 20:41

We never had kids bedding despite my endless obsession with the Argos catalogue.

We did have some absolutely lovely golden yellow floral stuff though, I'd give anything to fall asleep tucked up in that now.

BusyBeaMe · 07/09/2022 20:42

My parents had the Country Diary set

my children still occasionally have my old duvet covers when they sleepover at the Grandparents.

I had a Rainbow Brite one too.

Banthafodder · 07/09/2022 20:43

Also had the Snatch one, but the one I remember best is Fred Bassett - had the matching curtains, too

Is that Angela Rippon as in THE Angela Rippon that wrote Victoria Plum??!

That is just what I was thinking! I also had Victoria Plum, I think I might still have it somewhere.

Hopefully you can see my pic of my Paddington Bear duvet cover. It's quite old and faded now. I also had the lampshade as a child.

I also had the Victoria Plum one! My mum got it out the other day & it still looked adorable.

I also had a really snazzy grey, white red set with zig zags all over - poly cotton from Argos I imagine. Along with the matching freeze around the wall - loved it so much.

WonderingWanda · 07/09/2022 20:44

I had Victoria Plumb bedding and curtains too!
