Which UK city do you think will host Eurovision?

In our house we are guessing either Manchester, because it has the Media City area, and has a reputation for being very vibrant and up and coming, or Cardiff because the waterfront would provide a beautiful backdrop and the Millenium center is right on the bay.

Birmingham probably as they know how to put it on as have had it before.

Is there room at Stratford on East London where the Olympics took place in 2012?

Largest indoors arena of the former Olympic sites is the Copper Box and that's 7,500 so well short.

But there is some sort of roof for the Olympic Stadium itself (capacity 30,000), but I don't know if what's essentially an outside sports arena would work for an indoors song context, even with a roof on

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2022 13:43

Have they fixed the O2 since Eunice shredded part of the covering?

I'd guess Manchester or Glasgow, or maybe even Liverpool. A couple of those would suit me, I'm really quite excited about it!

thecatsthecats · 25/07/2022 13:43

From that list I'd knock out Birmingham as hosted most recently, and Aberdeen as not as good for travel. Ditto Nottingham.

I'd bet on Glasgow, Manchester or Newcastle.

BestIsWest · 25/07/2022 13:43

There’s no arena in Cardiff big enough is there? Motorpoint is 7,500. Other than the Principality Stadium of course. Otherwise I’d love to see it here.

Belfast. No customs issues with visas

I don’t mind as long as it’s not anywhere in Scotland as I don’t want Sturgeon getting any kind of look in . Cardiff would be good .

Grow up

RaininginDarling · 25/07/2022 13:44

NI, please!

BestIsWest · 25/07/2022 13:45

Belfast would get my vote if it can’t be in Wales.

bubblescoop · 25/07/2022 13:45

It should be England and I suspect either London or Manchester will get it.

thecatsthecats · 25/07/2022 13:45

Oh, and I would bet on a two handed hosting between Verka Seduchka and Graham Norton. An exception may be made to the no-politics rule maybe to let Zelensky appear.

Nightynightnight · 25/07/2022 13:46

Glasgow or Manchester would be fantastic.

BestIsWest · 25/07/2022 13:46

Why should it be England?

That is a very good point, but politically it could get challenging with members of the EU. They might want to avoid any hot potatoes like that.
It would be very cool otherwise.

They have, think they got it sorted in a few days.

What is Bristol's largest music venue?

We haven't got a large venue! They're on about turning an aircraft hangar into a suitable space. Somehow think they'll go with a city with an existing arena (and better transport links!)

Pyewhacket · 25/07/2022 13:47

Belfast

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2022 13:47

@bubblescoop why on earth should it be England? It's been awarded to the UK, not to England.

Why should it be England?

Why should it be anywhere else? And “not having had a turn yet” isn’t a good enough excuse.

Can you imagine the scrabble trying to create a suitable space in the time? Grin

Why shouldn’t it be elsewhere in the United Kingdom?

HelloAllll · 25/07/2022 13:50

I suspect manchester although I would be very pleased if it went to Newcastle

bruffin · 25/07/2022 13:50

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2022 13:40

Great research Rose!

I'll sadly strike Cardiff off the possible list.

What about the Principality Stadium in Cardiff capacity 74500. Was there on Friday for DD's graduation. It's huge and the roof closes

LimesandClementines · 25/07/2022 13:50

@bubblescoop because it has been awarded to the United Kingdom, there's no reason the other 3 countries shouldn't be considered.
