Words MN has made you dislike

Just reading through a couple of threads, and realised that, due to their (over)use on MN, there are some words that now make my teeth itch.

Words like 'gentle' (I see it as quite PA) and 'yummy' (always makes me think of some Lycra clad female jogging with a pushchair for some reason).

Am I alone in this, or do others have words they've come to dislike too?

‘Precious’
‘Get a grip’
🤮

Also hate 'think'. As in "DP has a time consuming hobby. Think sailing the Antarctic"

Yes! This too!

Get a 'shit hot lawyer', it sounds so stupid.

Flyinggeese1234 · 21/06/2022 18:56

The part-word ‘tho’. Is it really so hard to type the full word? I imagine the poster with their mouth frozen mid word. I know it sounds the same but written, just daft.

Flyinggeese1234 · 21/06/2022 23:50

Also ‘yum’. After a perfectly normal sentence with a nice recipe or sandwich idea for example. And then just ‘yum’. After it. No! Really infantile and unnecessary.

Yes, little one or LO.

Just tell me or don't!

God yeah! You know it's extra serious if there were blue lights AND SIRENS!

Emotional bandwidth Envy

Unhinged - used against anyone who doesn't agree with you about something.

critical thinking - ditto

frugalkitty · 27/06/2022 11:44

Eleventy and bastarding really annoy me.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 27/06/2022 17:10

We welcomed. As in a baby, kittens etc. What's the bloody point of saying that? Hmm

LoveLarry · 27/06/2022 18:19

Horrid
Cross
Yum
Yummy
Poorly

Any other infantile word used by the over 5s

I'm also not a fan of "Am I alone in..." or "is it just me who...". (Sorry OP.) these threads come up regularly on Mn so why would you be the only one ?
