Things that have made me feel old recently (I'm 39)

1 - getting the new iPhone and realising it looks the same and is just as shit as the one I got 7 years ago (as the ones from a year a two ago seem better, I've obviously missed something - something else to make me feel old!)

2 - how crap music videos are nowadays Where is the narrative? Or concept? It's all just people dancing in a desert. I want a tiny film. Give me something like the video to Murder on the Dancefoor by Sophie Ellis Bextor or Hey Ya by OutKast any day.

What has made you feel old recently? Please tell me I'm not alone and that life, as I suspected, has indeed gone to the dogs.

I meant to say Re 2- I do actually like a lot of newly released music, I just think the music videos are disappointing!

The other day my 19 year old colleague told me she found it cute the way the older generation (me) typed on our phones.

A few hours later she asked if I’d heard of Rhianna.

That today is my 45th Birthday and I chose to spend it visiting a garden centre!! How times have changed 😂

My arthritis. I'm 31 and feel like I should be in my 90s. I'd say 80s but my 85 year old nan is fitter than me

The music, the fashion, the slang... wtf is happening? I don't understand! 😄

Also I saw some teens hide a spliff from me in the park and that really confirmed that I am perceived as An Adult Who May Lecture. I am very much not in a position to lecture teens about smoking weed in parks as it was one of my favourite pastimes at one point, not all that long ago!

I work in a university and a few years ago I stopped being mistaken for a student. This comic used with returning from maternity leave after a year of no sleep.

When my 7 year old nephew asked me last week what phone boxes were used for.

I teach media and sociology related courses at university and I realised a couple of years ago that to the undergrads, 9/11 is a thing that happened 'in history'. Not an event they remember. A thing in the vague past, like world war 2 or something.

When I see young people

OP, you've made me feel quite old by talking about Sophie Ellis Bextor and Outkast as if they are from a long time ago..

The sweet boy is nineteen years younger than me. And he's not in the first flush of youth.

Finding out people I work with were born in the 2000s!!

This morning when a 7 year old asked me if I could remember the "olden days".

When I now enjoy all the places I hated as a child…..garden centres, national trust, nature reserves, woodland walks and afternoon drives 🤣

When Eminem comes on the radio and I remember all the words to his raps and the teens are in the car with me looking mortified (he’s this happened today).

When I look in the mirror and see my mother looking back at me 😬

Not got there yet. I am 58, foster mum to two (a 1 year old and a 2 year old) and am often referred to as 'mummy' when out and about with them. Someone asked me the other day if I had had heartburn when pregnant with the youngest as she has a ridiculous amount of hair!

When a child asked me if football existed when I was young… and pianos… 😂
