What makes you feel old?

Things that have made me feel old recently (I'm 39)

1 - getting the new iPhone and realising it looks the same and is just as shit as the one I got 7 years ago (as the ones from a year a two ago seem better, I've obviously missed something - something else to make me feel old!)

2 - how crap music videos are nowadays Where is the narrative? Or concept? It's all just people dancing in a desert. I want a tiny film. Give me something like the video to Murder on the Dancefoor by Sophie Ellis Bextor or Hey Ya by OutKast any day.

What has made you feel old recently? Please tell me I'm not alone and that life, as I suspected, has indeed gone to the dogs.

A few years ago I went in Topshop and realised that I could have been the mother of every girl in the queue. I left immediately. I'm only 36 now.
I also saw a t-shirt in H&M not so long ago that said 'Vintage 90s'. That was depressing.
My teaching assistant was born in 2000 - the same year as my first class. It blew my mind that she was old enough to work as obviously she should have been aged 15 at the very most!

When my dd did not believe that I used to wear baggy jeans/cargo/skater style trousers (just like she does now) until I dug some of the fuckers out of the depths of my wardrobe. Then she kept them because I’m far too old to wear them now anyway.

The thought that the time gap between WW2 and my birth is equivalent to the time gap between the 1990s and now. The 1990s feel like a couple of years ago to me.

Grey hairs!
Not having the slightest interest in Radio 1.

Having colleagues born in the 2000s.
Being a ‘Mrs’ not a ‘Miss’.
My happy place is a garden centre.
Wondering how/why I wore heels and make-up every day.

I’m only 30, but I haven’t seen a music video for years OP!

DH has contributed: noticing that all of the football players in a team are younger than him.

Going into a room and having no idea why I'm there so I come out, close the door behind me and troop back to the kitchen to put the kettle where upon I remember why I was there and have to trek back again. Happens more and more. Also calling one of the kids by the dogs name and I've also started having a conversation with my horse, he's a good listener.

No way would a grown up every have says that when I was young! You may care about your fence but I reckon you're still a young'un!

Earlier today we were talking about naughty things we did in our youth. I said I liked walking around building sites and balancing on the floor joists.

My husband, who is the same age as me, said he used to pull the putty out of the window frames that were going in.

We really laughed when we realised how old that made us.

I have a teenage DS (14) who is taller than me.

On the plus side, he has good taste in trainers and hoodies and is growing out of them so fast I'm getting his cast offs 🤣

My colleagues make me feel old, many of them are late teens/ early 20's. They're closer to my son's age than my age.

What was 2000 fashion? Sorry I was 39/40 and had a baby and a four year old. Was it leggings, baggy jumpers and boots; or a straight denim skirt, on the knee or a bit above and a pretty top or ribbed twinset? Shock
