What makes you feel old?

Things that have made me feel old recently (I'm 39)

1 - getting the new iPhone and realising it looks the same and is just as shit as the one I got 7 years ago (as the ones from a year a two ago seem better, I've obviously missed something - something else to make me feel old!)

2 - how crap music videos are nowadays Where is the narrative? Or concept? It's all just people dancing in a desert. I want a tiny film. Give me something like the video to Murder on the Dancefoor by Sophie Ellis Bextor or Hey Ya by OutKast any day.

What has made you feel old recently? Please tell me I'm not alone and that life, as I suspected, has indeed gone to the dogs.

I watched TOTP2 last night and EMF were on. I googled the lead singer - he's now a teacher! So unbelievable..

Kids I used to babysit when I was a teenager having babies. My favourite kid is having her second this summer.

Seeing loads of instagram pages dedicated to 'memories' and 'throwbacks' of the time when I was a teenager. I'm only 32!!! I was a teen from 2003-2009 - sorry but that was 2 minutes go in my eyes!

Will Young's "Evergreen" came on the radio this afternoon and it will be 20 years this year that he won Pop Idol. 20 years?!?! TV/music 'throwbacks' definitely make me feel old.

My 7 year old DC asked me last week if, when I was a child, we got water from the well and if the house was very dirty. I've just turned 40, we definitely had running water in the 80s!

My mum. I'm 45 with little kids still at home (and older ones at uni), and she talks like I'm about 90. She asks if I'm going to bed at half 8 like she does, or if I got my 'pension' early at bank holiday Monday like she did (she means my tax credits..). Makes me feel ancient 😂

Today I told my girl guides that the old uniform jumper I had on was older than 2 of them combined. 23 years if youre interested.

Me (41) talking to a girl (25) at work today, who's pg, she asked me if I would have anymore, I said I wouldn't as I'm too old now and she asked me how old I was and then said her mum is the same age as me

When I go out and I'm proud to take my little trolley to the shops or town coz the bags are just to heavy for me and the fact I've got loads of gray hair 35 and I feel older

I'm 39 also. My DC's are 21 and 17 so that in itself makes me feel old.

Having building work done to the house at the moment, one of the tradesman (early 20's maybe?) called me 'Ma'am' last week. He did seem a bit embarrassed about it however when I asked him to call me by my actual name!

My hands. Why are they suddenly looking a bit 'crinkly', do I need to get hand cream now?

'Influencers'. What the crap is that all about? Teenage me back in the mid 90's would have thought we had all fallen through a parallel universe to see how things are now.

The above comment makes me feel old....half a step away from saying 'Back in my day'....

I have no idea about the music charts anymore? Do they even exist? There was a time that I knew exactly who was in the Top 10. (Sighs) I miss those days!

I was driving the other day with dc2 and we saw a police car. Before I knew it I opened my mouth and my dmum popped out : "he doesn't look old enough to be driving! " 🤭😅
Tbf he barely looked older than dc (12!) but yeah, I did feel old!

Having national trust membership after being dragged round places as a child and hating it. My mum basically cackled with amusement when I told her I now willingly went frequently enough to warrant membership.
