What makes you feel old?

Things that have made me feel old recently (I'm 39)

1 - getting the new iPhone and realising it looks the same and is just as shit as the one I got 7 years ago (as the ones from a year a two ago seem better, I've obviously missed something - something else to make me feel old!)

2 - how crap music videos are nowadays Where is the narrative? Or concept? It's all just people dancing in a desert. I want a tiny film. Give me something like the video to Murder on the Dancefoor by Sophie Ellis Bextor or Hey Ya by OutKast any day.

What has made you feel old recently? Please tell me I'm not alone and that life, as I suspected, has indeed gone to the dogs.

I'm 46. Remembering my mum at the age I am now (I would have been 17 then) and thinking back to how old she seemed at the time.
My daughter is 18 and I must seem ancient to her (although she'd never admit it).

Another shock realisation of how old I am is seeing "children" I used to look after in their nursery days back when I was 18 and they are now 30+ with kids of their own who are older than they were back then!

When people mention the assassination of JFK. I remember seeing it on the tv news the day it happened, and rushing to tell my parents.

When I was 39 and my newly qualified colleague mentioned that I was the same age as her parents.

When I realised that I was old enough to be the parent if the members of a young adults group. 😰 and that I am no longer a young adult.

When I bought a dinosaur jumper and my friend asked me if 49 year olds wear dinosaurs. This one does!

And when people who are now full grown adults, don't remember events like 9/11 or Princess Diana's death.

The first Spider-Man film with Tobey Maguire in the principal role came out 20 years ago and I saw old Tobey in the most recent Spider-man film and I freaked a little.

I had to explain to my 15yo what pagers were.
