Re-wear your clothes?

Do you do that? Re-wear them?

What do you do when you wear your clothes again (apart from keep downwind of other people of course!)

I wear jeans twice unless they're knee marked and maybe a bra if its not hot weather but not tops, that's disgusting. No wonder so many people smell.

mydogisthebest · 07/05/2022 14:39

I would be interested to know how long the clothes of all the "only 1 wear" posters last.

My clothes last me years and I don't exactly spend a lot on them in the first place. Keep washing clothes just ruins them

It's not disgusting if you shower every day and use deodorant or anti-perspirant. I don't smell, my clothes last longer, I am saving money and energy on clothing and laundry. Profligate waste with no thought for your impact on the planet is far more disgusting in my view.

No wonder we're in climate crisis. Plus some people don't have the money to wear different clothes every day or wash them after one wear.

Yes @Asimhereanyway same here, I also use my Chairdrobe and Floordrobe for clothes awaiting their next wear too
Floor is for housework/gardening/slobby-comfy stuff and chairdrobe is for ‘out of the house’ jeans and t-shirts, trousers etc.
Posher items (eg/smart top, or rarely a dress) will go on a coat hanger on the back of the bedroom door. Only freshly laundered items go back in the wardrobe.

I change underwear, socks and tops daily (sweaty armpits/hot flushes) but jeans, skirts, trackie bottoms, sweatshirts and jumpers/cardigans all go several days unless marked or fail the sniff test.

Jeans get worn loads… don’t count days, throw in with next convenient wash.

I try and wear bras 2 or possibly 3 days - but it depends on the style (eg/ how close to the armpit) and weather, and how ‘menopausal’ I’ve been. Sometimes a bra might be just once - but then it messes up my system because I always buy matching sets, with one bra and either 2 or 3 knickers (2x thongs/briefs and 1 x Big girl Bridget pants).

Sports wear is same. Leggings worn few times but tops and socks just once - even though it will only be for about 2 hours max.

oh - exception is if anyone important is coming round or to stay and likely to see bedroom - then Chairdrobe things go on hangers at one end of wardrobe, and Floor things (which are already folded) get moved to the floor of the wardrobe. Family & good friends can see it in the wild - not ashamed of the system 😄

I also have a chairdrobe and floordrobe! Chairdrobe is for my going outside of the house clothes, floordrobe is usually dog walking or gardening stuff.
I do a sniff test on everything, apart from socks and underpants - they get washed every day. 😀

What is knee marked? You mean grass stains or similar?

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 15:56

@Svara You know when you sit cross-legged and the knees of your jeans or leggings go baggy?

Jeans shape to your body, yes, but how is that a bad thing? Leggings are very different.

I only wash when necessary and my clothes go bobbly really quickly so I'm curious too. Tights are the worst and they get washed really often obviously.

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 16:37

Because baggy knees and bum aren't a good look. 😂

Gwenhwyfar · 07/05/2022 16:38

"Exactly to have more than one alfit on top of a chair is a bit unhygienic if your forming a pile just put them in the wash."

Um, no thanks. If they're not dirty, they don't need to be washed. Being in a pile has nothing to do with anything.

I have a lot of clothes. So I wear something once and wash and might not wear it again for a few weeks or months. Same with tights, though, I have a large box of them.

I do, as I said above, wear some wool knitwear again without washing. Also towels, are reused without washing every time. I know we don't wear towels!

PumpkinsandKittens · 07/05/2022 16:49

I don’t rewear any clothes without washing them (other than coat or cardigan. Everything else is washed daily)

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 16:52

Depends where I got them from. My Asda and Primark stuff I usually get 4 to 6 years out of.

Even cheaper stuff like Shein and Boohoo tends to vary. I've had a couple of dresses from there that are 7 years old and still going strong.

Better quality stuff obviously lasts longer but it's affording it in the first place. I have a couple of tops that I remember wearing to college and I'm now in my 30s.

Purringcat3 · 07/05/2022 16:53

I rewear trousers and hoodies but I draw the line at underwear and a tshirt. I teach exercise most days though so some stuff is a straight no lol 😂

Not even slightly disgusting. Not even a teeny tiny amount. Get a grip.

Mine don't do that, just slightly at the knees and they look fine. I wear straight fit jeans, one pair is only 99% cotton but even those take a couple of weeks before they fall down a bit.

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 17:42

Mine do but I wear mostly jeggings so thats probably why.

I have a grip thanks but it's in the wash. With my clothes.

You really haven't if you think wearing a top more than once is disgusting.

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 18:38

I stand by my opinion that wearing the same clothes for days without washing them is minging.

If you're happy to wear dirty clothes that's up to you but I prefer to wear clean clothes every day.

Where did I say I wear dirty clothes? Never wear dirty clothes.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 07/05/2022 18:47

Oh and opinions can be wrong. Like yours. Your opinion is wrong

Notanotherwindow · 07/05/2022 18:50

That is only your opinion and given that you think a top that has been in your armpit for 2 days is clean, I don't think I'll be paying much attention to it.

Do you wash your pits every day? Why? Because they're smelly if you don't. So why would the piece of fabric under them be any different?

Nope. I shower every other day. I don't have smelly armpits. You might, but I don't. My clothes I am wearing now still smell like comfort. They are clean not dirty or smelly.

Certainly not minging and disgusting. And to use words like that shows the kind of person you are. With your incorrect opinions 👍😉

Buy better deodorant
