Re-wear your clothes?

Do you do that? Re-wear them?

What do you do when you wear your clothes again (apart from keep downwind of other people of course!)

A lot of mingers on this thread. I can't advise you on 're-wearing' because I don't do it.

Don't be fucking ridiculous. Jesus Christ. Ever likely the planet is fucked.

cherrypiepie · 07/05/2022 08:18

I'm always changing and rarely wear the same thing all day.

Work clothes tops and dress get washed after one wear. Trouser 2-3 and skirts as and when. Change into home clothes as soon as I get in.

Nice clothes are worn for a a few hours and get reworn so eg last night I wore a black casual dress for couple of hours so will wear again for a a few hours today and tomorrow a few hours. Then I'll wash it. Jeans I never wash unless visually dirty or every 10 ish wears.

I always change into comfy clothes at home, either trackies leggings shorts etc and t shirt and get through about 5 tops and 2 bottoms per week.

I reckon I get 12 hours wear out of clothes before they need washing. If I go out eg for dinner it depends if the the clothing has picked up a smell eg frying or spices.

Staynow · 07/05/2022 08:19

If they pass the sniff test they go back on. I can't imagine how expensive and environmentally unfriendly it is to be constant using water, energy and detergent to keep washing everything after wearing it once.

Knittingchamp · 07/05/2022 08:21

I get my press team to buy spots in the tabloids to say I've recycled an outfit, if worn more than once, thus making me look more down to earth and lauding me for my exceptional thriftiness and thoughtfulness (only after my team have laundered it and returned it to my dressing room, obvs).

Hallyup89 · 07/05/2022 08:22

Knickers and socks changed daily. Everything else, less so. I can wear the same jeans for a week. T-shirts until they are visibly dirty, usually 3 or 4 days. I'll wear a bra for a week and not shower everyday either.

I always sniff my clothes before putting them on and no, I don't smell.

I don’t understand how you can wear a top next to the skin twice. How do you manage not to sweat in your clothes? I wear deodorant and shower daily but they still look and smell gross at the end or the day. Deodorant rubs off on tops. And do you not walk anywhere? Never run for the bus? Never have to carry bags or young children upstairs? I change underwear, socks, tights and shirts next to skin everyday. Tighter trousers might get 2 days but probably not more than that. Looser trousers especially jeans will get 4 or so wears. More than that and they smell! Jumpers made of cotton or fleece can maybe get 5-7 wears. Proper wool jumpers not worn as a first layer ever I probably wash once mid-winter and once towards the the end of spring so I can put them away clean over the summer.
In summer I like thin cotton dresses that I change daily.

I am disabled so no. Wearing a top for a few days is fine.

@ShirleyPhallus
I’m disappointed in this thread. I was hoping for a lot more batshit “I only wear an item of clothes for a few hours and if you don’t you’re a dirty old minger posts”

yes- I'm surprised that the hygeine police haven't turned up yet. They're probably changing their sheets or busy loading the machine with their 4th load of laundry this morning

How rude.
You are contributing to the devastation of the environment with your washing obsession.
Oh - I managed to voice my opinion without resorting to name calling. Novel idea huh?

silentpool · 07/05/2022 04:54

I am careful with this as you can definitely smell an unwashed smell off certain people, particularly men, I find.

I will wear trousers/jeans multiple times but tops, maybe twice. I do put a camisole underneath just in case. Underwear obviously gets changed daily.

How the hell do you know this? Do you go around asking people when they last changed their clothes/showered? How exceptionally weird.

Onwards22 · 07/05/2022 08:29

Some people are more smelly than others and some days you’ll sweat more than others so it depends.

For the average person most clothes don’t need washing after every wear.
Especially the over layers like trousers, jeans, leggings, jumpers, cardis and coats.

I don’t have a physically demanding job so t-shirts and tops don’t need washing every day either.

I do change pants, socks and bras everyday but have enough that I only need to wash them all together once a week.

It depends what job you do.
What the weathers like.
How often you wash.
And if you’re more a of a smelly/sweaty person than average.

pictish · 07/05/2022 08:29

Of course I re-wear clothes. I don’t ‘do’ anything when I do. Stand down wind of people? What??

DisforDarkChocolate · 07/05/2022 08:30

I rewear most things (excluding underwear). They get hung up to air inbetween.

PuppyMonkey · 07/05/2022 08:30

00100001 · 07/05/2022 08:11

🙄Don't act so "shocked"

You've 100% reworn clothes.

If you've ever removed a jumper or cardigan because it was bit warm.... and then put it back on...you've reworn clothes.

That time you went swimming and got changed into a costume and back into your clothes...reworn.

Pulled your pants down to go to the loo...and then pulled the same pair back up? Eewwwww you wore used underwear 🤢

Presumably you wash your coat every single day,and take multiple coats with you when out and about. Because I am genuinely shocked you rewore that jacket after taking it off at your Mum's....

Grin

I do sometimes wonder how these ‘OMG that’s minging’ folk cope with the everyday horrors of things like wiping their own bum after going to the loo or changing a sanitary towel or blowing their nose.Confused

TeenPlusCat · 07/05/2022 07:32

I read these threads and wonder how some people ever have time for living they must be so busy washing drying and folding things I would consider still clean enough to wear. What a waste of time and water and electricity.

I read the comments and think there must be a hell of a lot of people with some strange sweating disease because they have to wash everything after just one wear!
No wonder some of you are complaining about huge utility bills - you never step away from the washing machine.

KitKattaktik · 07/05/2022 08:32

I'll often wear a top the next day if I've only worn it the previous night to go out for dinner and have no other plans to leave the house or see friends.

I've clothes I wear for gardening which I do wear again and again because I'm only going to get muddy and I'm not prepared to ruin all my clothes!

Underwear is always fresh on. If you shower regularly you don't smell.

RedMake88 · 07/05/2022 08:33

I rewear if not soiled. I change underwear twice a day as I wear knickers at night. So I change in the morning and evening before bed. Bras I generally get two days wear out of. Joggers that I just wear in evenings sometimes I’ll wear 3 times. Jeans at least 2 wears. Tops I generally change.

roosnunlilei · 07/05/2022 08:33

I have a bad skin condition and cannot rewear clothes, I understand the environmental aspect but tbh I probably have less of an environmental impact generally than those who are on their high horses over someone washing their clothes after one wear, I have to do what is right for me medically.

pictish · 07/05/2022 08:34

Ah, is this the new ‘towels’ theme, whereby normal people with ordinary washing habits are told they are dirty and lacking, while the highly strung compete for the clean crown?
Ha ha…by all means continue. I do love the batshit washers. Makes me feel glad to be slovenly me.

Riverlee · 07/05/2022 08:34

I’ll rewear clothes more than once (including bras but not pants. )

Asimhereanyway · 07/05/2022 08:34

Yes I re wear clothes (not underwear) I store them on the chairdrobe or floordrobe between wears. If I’m just doing the garden, staying around the house at the weekend I will even re wear if they smell a bit overdue a wash and smell of cooking.
I wouldn’t go out smelling of cooking though so the cooking /gardening clothes are stored on the floor at the side of the chair and the decent re wear clothes are on the chair. I’m aware I must look like a bag lady some days but if I’m not planning on going anywhere then it’s only the postie that’s likely to see me and he’s seen far more than he should, when I jumped out of bed to answer his knock one day in a loose long T-shirt, and the door I was trying to half hide behind blew open a bit too much.

balalake · 07/05/2022 08:41

Jumpers and trousers yes (don't wear dresses or skirts usually), not anything else.

gothereagain · 07/05/2022 08:44

I re-wear my clothes except knickers and socks unless they are visibly dirty or smell. I'm not sweaty (I have the minimal sweat gene) and I have clinically diagnosed hyperosmia (amazingly sensitive sense of smell) so I'd know if I smelled!

My jeans/ trousers/ skirts go back in the drawer or wardrobe, tops get aired on a hanger on the outside of the wardrobe.

StopStartStop · 07/05/2022 06:03

Maybe you're the minger if you have to change all your clothes every day.

teenagetantrums · 07/05/2022 08:46

Apart from pants and socks l will rewear anything that doesn't smell. Honestly surely even those people that say they never re wear clothes don't wash items like thier dressing gown everyday?

PurpleDaisies · 07/05/2022 08:48

Yes, and in real life it’s obviously that most people do too.
Not socks, pants or gym kit after a particularly sweaty workout.
