What’s an instant turn off for you in a man/woman?

Playing computer games gets so much hate on Mumsnet. Each to their own but I’d much rather someone do that than have any interest in sports (and it so often seems to be one or the other)!

Fussy eater, and many of the above, especially being vain/mean with money/workshy/poor table manners - inc. eating with mouth open/holding knife like a pencil (petty I know).

Enjoyallthewine · 06/05/2022 08:27

Easily aggressive /anger, impatience,smelly,rude,possessive, jealous,

lurchermummy · 06/05/2022 09:10

So funny a lot of you would absolutely hate my DH despite his nice hands, teeth and good bodily hygiene!

Daenerys77 · 06/05/2022 09:28

Anyone who can't do basic adult stuff such as keep himself, his clothes and home reasonably clean and tidy; work out a route from A to B and get there on time; budget, shop and cook for himself; find a job that pays enough to live on and hold it down.

DinosaursEatMan · 06/05/2022 09:42

Having no interest in politics.
Beards
Cycling as a hobby

Sure I can think of a few more…

DinosaursEatMan · 06/05/2022 09:51

Lack of intelligence
Vegan
Bandy legs
Not knowing the definition of a woman

moodini · 06/05/2022 09:57

How disappointing that people see not eating animals as a turn off! WTF?
Like, oh I just love to see a man eating dead stuff

I’m vegetarian but you’ve just captured the exact reason why people don’t want to date vegetarians and vegans. Attitudes like yours are just OTT. And if you’re so disgusted by meat eaters surely it’s not ‘disappointing’ since you wouldn’t want to date one anyway!

longwayoff · 06/05/2022 11:52

Mean spirited and/or mean with money. And Tory, obviously.

whatisthisinhere · 06/05/2022 11:54

Smoking
Bad hygiene,
Rudeness to any person
Loud Nose breathing

I love beards 😊 so manly 🥰

Me too! 😍

Shade17 · 06/05/2022 13:12

Voting Labour
Being vegetarian/vegan

moodini · 06/05/2022 16:06

Voting Tory
Eating meat

Comedycook · 06/05/2022 16:28

Any extreme politics...whichever side! is off putting for me

thewooster · 06/05/2022 16:31

I agree. Any intolerance for another person's point of view or political leaning is an instance turn off.

Also spitting.

notangelinajolie · 06/05/2022 16:32

Vanity
Gym bods
Beards

mydogisthebest · 06/05/2022 16:32

Smoking and tattoos. Both vile

Phoebesgift · 06/05/2022 17:54

Ridiculous long, bushy hipster beards. Men with loads of visible tattoos, especially on the neck, face and hands.
Skinny trousers that end above the ankle, sockless and loafers.
Dyed hair, especially blonde highlights or solid "just for men" black.
Men who brag about their job and salary, who object to women drinking pints. Having no contact with their children and not being bothered about it.

RaraRachael · 06/05/2022 17:58

Beards
Tattoos
Mean with money
Loud "life and soul of the party type"

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/05/2022 18:09

Thank god so many of you hate tattooed men. All the more for me 😂

Turn offs for me - Tories, men who have children they don't see or pay for, bad hygiene, workshy, misogynistic.

DinosApple · 06/05/2022 18:10

Men that like watching sport. So time consuming. I find it really off putting.
Also, arrogance.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/05/2022 18:12

Oh yeah, men who actively follow a football team. I don't want my weekends revolving around football.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/05/2022 18:13

And men who say "all lives matter" and think blokes like Nigel Farage and Jeremy Clarkson are great.

JollyWilloughby · 06/05/2022 18:58

My husband loves football but it suits me down to the ground as I have my own interests to follow and indulge my time in. He was a footballer when I met him and I fancied the pants off him and still do. I couldn’t watch it myself though, too boring.

All of my kids love it so he takes them too at the weekend and I get to be on my own which I also love.

I like my man to be manly but not chavvy. Big difference. Also kindness is so important. When I met him he was a lot kinder than many other frogs I had kissed along the way. So men lacking in empathy or kindness would be a huge turn off.
