What’s an instant turn off for you in a man/woman?

OP posts:
TooManyPJs · 05/05/2022 19:04

Shoes with jeans 🤮
Arrogance
Small shoulders
Halitosis or poor hygiene
Men that wear smart casual clothing (you know the type, lads that iron their jeans and spend a lot of time on their hair etc etc. Linked to the shoes with jeans thing!

SweetPetrichor · 05/05/2022 19:04

Men: ‘Lads’. Football fans. Men who own nice cars or men who want to be the one in the driving seat. Smokers. Drinkers. Trackie wearers.

Women: caked makeup, fish facers, dyed blondes, fake nails

Would love a list of what men don't like about women!! To even things out :)

Clearly you've never been on Reddit then!

Oh and I hate men in pointy shoes! Envy

Oh I hate this too!!!!!

My DH likes a pointy work shoe....had to compromise on something! 😃

WDTABNONONO · 05/05/2022 19:06

Arrogance / vanity / disrespectful / entitled.

Bad breath / odour etc can be changed but shitty attitudes can't be.

teacherorpreacher · 05/05/2022 19:14

If I don't like a mans shoes I automatically don't like the man. Not bothered what shoes ladies wear. Yeah I know it is crazy

tiggergoesbounce · 05/05/2022 19:20

Rude/dismissive of people/staff.
Talks about money
Too muscly
No socks with ankle length trousers

Cherrysoup · 05/05/2022 19:22

Probably going to be flamed for this, but strong regional accents. I just couldn’t cope (am from somewhere with a very strong accent but don’t have that accent myself)

Manky teeth, grey joggers, burps in front of me, a big fan of sport. I would hate to have football dominating my life, or be a golf widow or have a MAMIL buggering off for hours at the weekend.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 05/05/2022 19:34

Smelly, Skint, Lazy Brexiteer and Tory

CountTheStars · 05/05/2022 19:36

Slovenly mannerisms. Men who live in tracksuits - yuk. But…….a man with a distinct lack of a sense of humour - this is the biggest turn-off for me. A man with a clever/silly sense of humour is a catch & I’d want to know more. Crude behaviour & laziness however is horrid & gives me the ick. Additionally, men who can’t hold down a job - sorry but I’m out.

Women - those who literally paint another face on before they’ll hang out the washing. Again, bad/slovenly manners, crude comments & lots of swearing. Not good.

And men/women who get so shitfaced on a night out they become an embarrassment - nope, not for me 😬

CountTheStars · 05/05/2022 20:07

Got to add, men who are too thin. I like a bit of stock!

MrsBlaue · 05/05/2022 20:12

Stinginess, for example saying that the other person should contribute more because they eat meat and you don’t so they should pay more as meat costs more than lettuce.

Meeting me somewhere out carrying a heavy bag and not offering to carry it. Same with shopping.

Smoking, the smell is pungent to a non-smoker.

Inability to get or maintain an erection, instant bin.

Expectation of oral sex or cooking. Mental bin at the point it’s brought up.

Excessive preening after a shower.

Feminine noises during (remotely) sexual activity.

Deliberate hints at money being “not exactly plentiful” for no reason/in fear of potential expenses.

Promiscuity.

Bad grammar.

Presence or mentioning of things like Xbox, PlayStation, football or beer.

Lightning020 · 05/05/2022 20:16

Bad grammar. Too much swearing. An overly loud voice. Arrogance. Poor hygiene/teeth. Sexism racism ageism. Taking over or dominating the conversation/group. Smoking.

MrsBlaue · 05/05/2022 20:18

hellcatspanglelalala · 05/05/2022 16:14

Smoking - would never date a smoker
Anyone pro Tory/brexit/questionable morals/racist
Gym bunnies who spend hours preening themselves
No body hair (as in, I like a hairy chest/legs on a man)
Jobless

Urgh, unfortunately I once had an experience with a man with very little to no body hair, it was disgusting, he was like a giant gross baby😖

PolynesianParadise · 05/05/2022 20:19

Long toenails/crusty feet
Dreadlocks or greasy hair
Can't drive
Calling an ex crazy or demented
Gym bunnies

JollyWilloughby · 05/05/2022 20:19

Someone who drives like a twat.

PolynesianParadise · 05/05/2022 20:19

Poor spelling and grammar or an uneducated outlook on life

PolynesianParadise · 05/05/2022 20:20

LAst one, someone who 'doesn't eat vegetables'. Instant dump.

northernlola · 05/05/2022 20:25

Small feet. Totally unfair of course because you don't choose your foot size.

Long fingernails. Urghhhhhhhh.

CurryandSnuggle · 05/05/2022 20:30

Bad breath

Poor hygiene

Takes drugs, gambles or smokes

Unkind

Arrogant

MrBoldwood · 05/05/2022 20:31

I’m literally laughing aloud, this thread is great 😀
out of interest I’d love to know the men’s equivalent…

for me - apart from the obvious -
cheap trainers on very large feet
very large feet anyway
skinny neck
wet mouth
wide hips
man boobs in a tee shirt
small sharp teeth (ex-husband, I’m looking at you)
tight with money
sulking
babyish behaviour
belching deliberately and then excusing themselves loudly
Sneaking in misogyny e.g. “nothing against women, but…”
wandering eye
banging on about how good looking other women/celebrities are
lazy
work shy
hypochondriac
needy
thick ankles
there are many more..

Secretlymadeit12 · 05/05/2022 20:32

Bad hygiene, gross filthy teeth, arrogance, talking about themselves constantly, being miserly

D0lphine · 05/05/2022 20:34

@MrBoldwood - wet mouth. I'm dying here! Explain more please.

tiedyetie · 05/05/2022 20:38

Small hands
Long nails
Bad teeth (crooked teeth are fine, even welcome)
Short (sorry, shallow i know)
Unmerited arrogance

tiedyetie · 05/05/2022 20:39

cheap trainers on very large feet

PMSL
