Light hearted thread....

What really disappoints me is having a beautiful watermelon sitting waiting to be eaten only to finally cut it open and it's tastes of nothing! No juice/no flavour, and it was definitely ripe, been sat ripening for a week.

My payrise it puts me 4p over min wage and my boss thinks they are been generous

( yes I know I am lucky to have a secure job but Hmm )

Satsumas. They're either magnificent or wholly pathetic and you can never tell whivh you're going to get.

whatnumber · 02/04/2022 11:01

I always look forward to a take away then often feel disappointed after.

People who are selfish. Nice colleague joined as agency, then signed up as permanent. Asked him why, expecting to hear something about the role and the team, and he said 'so I can get sick pay' and has since been off sick for about 7 weeks.

Another friend who's in a nice free financial position and often goes on about pitying people who work. Turns out is was fraud. Really disappointed me.

Being invited to someone’s house for dinner and being served baked potatoes. And no wine. Thanks, Christina Sad

florentina1 · 02/04/2022 11:22

Mine is a good disappointment in a way. For the last year I have eaten very little meat. Every so often I get a yearning. Sausage sandwich, bacon, piece of steak. I now find that they do not live up to my expectations.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 02/04/2022 11:46

Undercooked aubergine.

A tangerine that looks plump and luscious until you undress it, revealing a stringy, wizened fossil.

Mamette · 02/04/2022 11:52

Satsumas are definitely not the satsumas of my childhood. I think it’s about a one in ten hit rate for a decent one these days.

Mine is gluten-free bread. I’m always trying new ones and I’m always hopeful. But invariably they are horrible.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 02/04/2022 11:55

Urgh yes satsumas and other small peely things like that. Often look plump and juicy and turn out to be dry as a bone, too much pith. Not worth eating now. DH persists so I get a satsuma report every day at lunchtime!

alittlefickle · 02/04/2022 11:57

Oh yes... those horrible dried up satsumas are the worst, or an orange!
I feel your disappointment.

The fact that dust constantly reappears, usually within minutes of dusting. Hate the damn stuff.

I feel your pain. MIL invited us round for bacon and egg butties for lunch. The eggs were boiled and the bacon cooked in the oven.
floppybit · 02/04/2022 12:08

Cutting open an avocado that feels like it's just perfect and ready for eating to find it's black and weirdly hard inside. Sometimes they just don't ripen properly. Also, getting a Big Mac when you haven't had one for ages, only to find it's a bit cold and nothing special

midsomermurderess · 02/04/2022 12:10

I second takeaways, they are always and without fail disappointing.

Limegreentangerine · 02/04/2022 12:14

Those Whippy drinks laden With sauce from Starbucks or costa ... so sickly I end up throwing half away and feeling ill for the rest of the day!

PaperTyger · 02/04/2022 14:07

No decent pub gardens it's not too much too ask for some basics surely!!
Holly Hock's etc.

Coming in from the cold, touching the nearest radiator to warm up only to find it's stone cold.

Eating a bad banana that you thought was just right.

Dippy egg disappointment - when you’ve been craving dippy eggs then despite cooking it just right it isn’t quite dippy enough.

Satsumas.

Eating out. I paid 25 quid for a really disappointing meal the other night.

Starting a highly rated series on Netflix to discover it’s shite.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 02/04/2022 14:18

Discovering someone I really get on with is a smoker. I just feel so disappointed in them.

Cutemob · 02/04/2022 14:20

The fact that the world isn't anywhere near as feminist as I was brought up to believe.
Not lighthearted at all, sorry!

alittlefickle · 02/04/2022 14:20

@Sidge

What Netflix series was it?
