New footage of Jada Pinket Smith laughing

Sorry know this has been done to death and probably people losing interest but-

Anybody see the mobile phone footage of slapgate filmed from behind the Smiths that was broadcast on morning TV today?

I'm convinced it was an act now, she didn't bat an eye and just laughed. I wondered why there hadn't been a video of her reaction before now.

@HellToTheNope

I couldn't possibly care less about any of this. Can the world move on now and give attention to issues that actually matter?
Hmm and yet here you are posting.

There are lots of other threads for you to post upon. Otherwise, you could apply to become a thread monitor deciding what people should and shouldn't post about. Were you a prefect?

WheresMyAlex · 01/04/2022 11:57

I don’t think it was an act at all, the anger with which he was shouting after seemed very real to me.
And I think JPS was laughing because she thought it was funny that Smith slapped him, in fact judging by the fact WS was originally laughing I think she may have even said something to him to make him react that way. Obviously still doesn’t excuse him of wrongdoing but I personally think both Smiths come off badly in this.

Leftbutcameback · 01/04/2022 11:57

Why are the organisation taking disciplinary action against WS then? I don’t think it was an act but if it was they would have just said nothing more about it.

GeoffLynton · 01/04/2022 11:58

The bit she looks to laugh at is when Chris Rock says 'Wow Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me' or words to that effect.

At that point, it was quite feasible to her and the rest of the audience that it could have been a 'pretend' smack- she doesn't look to be laughing when he started yelling, which is when I think most people realised it was serious

Side note, I'm really surprised how many people weren't aware of Chris Rock!

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 01/04/2022 12:00

Bored Zelda Maybe you should educate yourself on the difference between traction alopecia and alopecia areata?

TigerLilyTail · 01/04/2022 12:01

How do you know Will Smith's slap wasn't staged?
His son wasn't cast in it.

I'm bored of the whole thing. It was a stupid thing to do and I'm sure he regrets it. Surely something else is going on in the world?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 01/04/2022 12:16

Nope, this is literally the only thread on MN. There are no other threads about other events for you to read or post on. I've asked MNHQ if we could have, say, a series of long-running threads about the Ukraine invasion, or maybe a few threads about the cost of living crisis, but they said no. They only want one board, with one thread on it. Which is this one.

Also, there are no other talk websites other than MN.

@RJnomore1

The poor woman can’t do anything right can she?

Two men act like arseholes and yet again somehow it’s a woman at fault for not being compliant enough or looking after her hair correctly or breathing or something.

Ffs.

Honestly I'm just surprised it took this long. It's always a woman's fault when men act badly!
burnoutbabe · 01/04/2022 12:38

no one swears like that during a live ROUND THE WORLD broadcast if it was faked.

Laiste · 01/04/2022 12:51

The only thing i feel is definite is the fact that it wasn't an act.

What good has it done WS?

skippy67 · 01/04/2022 12:51

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon

It was all an act.

WS was laughing along with him and almost missed his cue, CR leaned in for the slap, WS walked away laughing, security were nowhere to be seen, it was a slap where a punch would’ve been more productive, CR stated that it was the greatest night in television which (a) it wasn’t, and (b) sounded like something he was trying to get hashtagged.

Chris Rock did well from it. I’d never heard of him until this.

Why though? Why would they stage something like this? And I can't believe you've never heard of Chris Rock!

Agree with this.

What is wrong with people that they are analysing this to death and somehow it's the woman's fault. I despair.

A,person's fame isn't measured by whether or not you've heard of them (fortunately). Chris Rock is extremely well known!

Exactly! Millions of people have heard of him!
knittingaddict · 01/04/2022 12:54

Oh and I've heard of Chris Rock too and I'm old and seriously out of the loop with modern personalities and culture.

I haven’t watched it but this makes sense re timing

I don’t think it was an act

drpet49 · 01/04/2022 12:59

She didn’t even look at her husband as he walked back his chair. Weird

Pfizer sponsored the Oscars..
Pfizer have just made an alopecia product...

Do we now think it was all an act? of course it bloody was!

Wow I did not know this.

I think it looked like a stage slap. Surprised he didn't stamp his foot down on "impact" à la hulk hogan Grin

As for the realness of the angry tirade by WS, we should remember he is quite literally an Oscar winning actor. The reactions of the stars sat on the front row of shock and awe just don't match up with Jada's reaction, or CR/WS IMO, like they were the only ones in on the joke.

This cracked me up
Redcrayons · 01/04/2022 13:57

Seriously can’t understand rhe ‘it’s all an act’. Why? WS is just about to win an Oscar, it’s the biggest moment of his career. He has made a decades long career out of being Mr Nice Guy.
He has gained exactly nothing from this.

If it was staged and a big joke they would have said so, seeing how WS has completely trashed his reputation.

Cutemob · 01/04/2022 14:03

But, nobody will ever forget that he won an Oscar now will they? Plus maybe he wants to shake off his mr nice guy persona as its influencing the roles he gets offered, or audience perception of him in grittier roles?

OP posts:
Cutemob · 01/04/2022 14:05

Can't believe CR was just left standing there, having to carry on presenting after being assaulted. Doesn't make sense at all to me.

OP posts:
LizBennet · 01/04/2022 14:13

There's quite a height and weight difference between Will and Chris. A punch would have made him look like a bully, plus a slap is more humiliating.
I don't believe it was staged due to the swearing and roaring he did.

1forAll74 · 01/04/2022 14:15

I think the two men were friends some time ago, I have seen a couple of photo's of both the men and Jade, all smiley smiley. Maybe it was a pre arranged slap performance, some method acting as such, just to liven up the boring Oscars. I imagine that both of these men, are very adept at saying, and doing over the top things.
