Sorry know this has been done to death and probably people losing interest but-

Anybody see the mobile phone footage of slapgate filmed from behind the Smiths that was broadcast on morning TV today?

I'm convinced it was an act now, she didn't bat an eye and just laughed. I wondered why there hadn't been a video of her reaction before now.

I'd be surprised by someone not having heard of Vladimir Jurowski or Andrew Manze

No you wouldn’t.

Motnight · 01/04/2022 19:04

Yes it's all a conspiracy.

Just like COVID 🙄

theDudesmummy · 01/04/2022 19:06

I can probably think of literally dozens of people who most people would say were super famous who my DH would never have heard of, both old and current. He just has no interest in celebrity culture and only watches certain very specific genres of film/TV. It happens.

RoastedFerret · 01/04/2022 19:06

@BoredZelda

I think saying 'Jada, I love you – I can't wait for GI Jane 2.' is being verbally abusive is a real stretch

Making fun of a woman’s appearance on a globally televised show isn’t verbally abusive? What a low bar you shave for what is acceptable conduct.

A low bar for a celebrity roast? I mean that is what is was? Or are we not allowed to include women because they are too delicate? Jada just rolled her eyes at it, that is all the bad joke was worthy of.

Obviously, you think a man with a learning disability who was paid to go there and joke got what was coming to him. We all have different bars I suppose Smile

Now you're just being pedantic. If I happened to be talking to a random stranger who had never heard of them, I wouldn't be surprised (though I'd be weird to be talking about them to a randomer in the park). But I'd tend to be talking to people whom I would expect to have heard of them. Simply because a lot of my friends are people whom I've met from being in orchestras etc. People who have heard of Will Smith and Chris Rock are presumably people who watch films/TV. Each to their own.

Exactly!

Didn’t Vladimir punch Andrew one time @MakingShiteMemories Grin

It's all over You Tube. I'm surprised there wasn't a thread about it.

Fireants · 01/04/2022 19:27

Jada and Chris worked together on promotion tours for Madagascar. Chris might have thought Jada would roll her eyes at ribbing and she did exactly that.

Dovesofpeace · 01/04/2022 20:27

The whole thing felt staged

Odd
Oscars ratings have been falling for a long time, this has certainly given them a boost

Suzi888 · 01/04/2022 20:33

@HellToTheNope

I couldn't possibly care less about any of this. Can the world move on now and give attention to issues that actually matter?
On MN😂 issues that matter?

Always thought it was an act OP, the Oscar’s needed viewers.

FrangipaniBlue · 02/04/2022 00:56

@UsernameIsNotAvailableRightNow

If your kids never made you sit through the Madagascar films on repeat for years count yourself lucky.

If they did, the zebra is voiced by Chris Rock.

and Jada voiced Gloria the hippo!!!
IGotAVaxAndILikedIt · 02/04/2022 02:02

Always important to find a woman to blame for men's actions.

Furries · 02/04/2022 03:24

This thread is, erm, interesting!

No way was it set up. Absolutely no chance that the two of them needed to “raise their profile” in this way.

I’ve seen some 🦇 💩 theories on many topics on this site over time, but reading anymore into this is blooming nuts!

CR was a dick with his “joke”. WS was a bigger dick for reacting in that way - various options where he could have shamed CR.

Got to love MN for the conspiracy theories though!

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2022 09:05

Hearing more today re statements I’m even more convinced it wasn’t staged

I think pp is imagining too much in thinking it was

BoredZelda · 02/04/2022 22:38

How dare you bring up race!! All races suffer with traction alopecia!! Years of pulling hair into a tight ponytail can cause this,not just braiding. You should know this if you supposedly have aa

So much ignorance.

wightwine · 03/04/2022 00:26

@Soffit

He was winning an Oscar for a senior part. His prime was the Men In Black days Chris Rock - wanted to widen his appeal to an international audience as this thread also proves that he is mainly known to people of a small age band who watch US TV shows Jada - has been trying to re-gain relevance for a while which is why she filed a never-ending chat between three generations of her family. The Academy - has been going one way for a long time and it's not good. All four of the above - despite the success of Spiderman this year, the industry overall has suffered losses and expects to suffer hugely this/next year. Those mansions don't pay themselves and most Hollywood people (most of whom you will never have heard of) have been busy tapping into revenue streams all over the place because they know that they won't all get through it unscathed.
Chris Rock is a comedian who performs in his own sell out shows around the world. He is an international star already. Not having heard of him may be a sign of parochialism on the part of posters here. He will leave a substantial legacy.

I've just read today that all Will Smith's movie projects are on pause. Not sure how true it is.

LaingsAcidTab · 03/04/2022 11:58

All is not well in the Smith household (Smith himself being a significant factor), and Chris Rock was the scapegoat.

TigerLilyTail · 03/04/2022 15:51

I'm really looking forward to the Fresh Prince reboot, so I hope it isn't on hold.

I still think the whole thing is crazy. It was a moment of stupidity and he was right to apologise, but how far is the whole thing going to go?

TigerLilyTail · 03/04/2022 15:58

I just realised it's already been released. 🤦‍♀️

Midlifemusings · 07/04/2022 17:39

This is an interesting video on alopecia and Jada
