New footage of Jada Pinket Smith laughing

Sorry know this has been done to death and probably people losing interest but-

Anybody see the mobile phone footage of slapgate filmed from behind the Smiths that was broadcast on morning TV today?

I'm convinced it was an act now, she didn't bat an eye and just laughed. I wondered why there hadn't been a video of her reaction before now.

As for not knowing chris rock hes been around for about 20 years now

L0stinCyberspace · 01/04/2022 15:50

People often laugh with shock, laugh but are furious...I thought when watching WS you can see him continuing to laugh at the "joke" but it's kind of a reflex laugh and his eyes harden. In the past I've laughed at extremely inappropriate moments when shocked so I can see how that can happen tbh.

LizBennet · 01/04/2022 15:50

Shows how much attention I pay AryaStarkWolf, I'd thought he was hosting it 😑
Just PMSL at WS needing to raise his profile 😳

skippy67 · 01/04/2022 15:50

@Soffit

I cannot believe that people are so naive and falling for this. They whole thing was staged by three people past their Hollywood peak to grab headlines and raise their profiles.
And I cannot believe that you think this. Will Smith has been a huge name for over 30 years! Chris Rock too. Not only that, Smith was in line for, and won a bloody Oscar! Both of their profiles were pretty high already don't you think? Jeez...
Deadringer · 01/04/2022 15:53

Some randomer on mn has never heard of Chris Rock so believes it's the highlight of his career to be slapped on stage in front of an audience of millions, by a man much bigger and more famous than himself. Ffs. No way was it staged, it has totally taken the shine off WS's oscar win, and yes Phizer are working on a drug for alopecia, as well as millions of other things, but it's nowhere near ready for sale yet. Lots of people dislike Jada and like Will, which is why so much vitriol is being thrown at her, though she is blameless in this.

BoredZelda · 01/04/2022 15:54

I cannot believe people are so gullible and lacking in thought,, they fall for this sort of crap.

AnnesBrokenSlate · 01/04/2022 15:55

People can't genuinely believe that this was good for anyone's profile. That's just stupid.
It trashed Will Smith's reputation. It took focus from so many Oscar night firsts for minority and BAME groups. And it definitely tarnished the win for King Richard which meant it adversely affected Venus and Serena Williams too. In one fell swoop, or should I say slap what should have been an amazing night for BAME and minority groups was turned into the opposite.
And I just don't understand these posters on social media claiming nonsense. I wonder what it will show when they do a study into posting patterns around this. I think I can guess.

theDudesmummy · 01/04/2022 15:55

I wasn't saying Rock is not "famous", I am sure he conforms to whatever the definition of fame is, just that I myself had not heard of him (or Jada). I am sure that there are lots of people who I would consider very "famous" that many people on here have never heard of. And my interest in the entertainment world does not generally extend to stand-up comedy, which I cannot stand.

"Famous" is very relative (except for that very much smaller group of people who almost everyone in the world will have heard of, in the entertainment world I would be thinking Madonna, perhaps, or Brad Pitt, I don't believe this Rock chap is in that category!).

HighOnPie · 01/04/2022 15:55

Chris Rock’s early standup was incredibly funny. He’s a mega star now, silly that people are saying he’s made a name from himself with slapgate 😆

RoastedFerret · 01/04/2022 15:56

@BoredZelda

This makes what Will Smith did far worse in my opinion, he smacked a man that he knows has a learning disability, shame on him.

That’s a massive leap. Is there any evidence that Chris Rock is incapable of self regulating in a way that would stop him being verbally abusive to a woman about the way they look?

I think saying 'Jada, I love you – I can't wait for GI Jane 2.' is being verbally abusive is a real stretch. Whereas slapping someone you know has a learning disorder which includes difficulties with social skills, reading social cues and taking things literally is pretty gross by most peoples standards(not your obviously).
AnnesBrokenSlate · 01/04/2022 15:58

He was in the middle of a sold-out tour.

I'm starting to think we should resurrect the MN tradition of just posting Biscuit rather than engaging with gfs and conspiracy theorists Hmm

How do you figure that Smith is "past his Hollywood peak" when he has just won an Oscar? I don't give a damn about Oscars etc but you have to admit that in that world, he was at the peak, not past it! And Rock, although I, a very middle-aged hater of stand-up comedy, didn't know who he was, appears to have been doing pretty damn well for himself too. No way they would have agreed to do this as a set up. No-one came out of it well.

MakingShiteMemories · 01/04/2022 16:00

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

Chris Rock did well from it. I’d never heard of him until this.

A,person's fame isn't measured by whether or not you've heard of them (fortunately). Chris Rock is extremely well known!

I'd never heard of any of these people until now. Confused

Or maybe some randomer on MN cannot even see a staged performance for the masses for what it is and sees fit to make assumptions about who or what people do or don't know. For the record, I have met two out of these three people.

Thanks for the heads up about Pfizer. It has suddenly given Jada a shed load of credibility ... NOT.

I know, the guy has a golden reputation and has just won Best Actor, he hardly needs to take a massive publicity gamble like that
MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 01/04/2022 16:03

@HellToTheNope

I couldn't possibly care less about any of this. Can the world move on now and give attention to issues that actually matter?
Try not to get hurt when you fall off your high horse
skippy67 · 01/04/2022 16:03

For the record, I have met two out of these three people. Oh, you should've said! That changes everything!

IncompleteSenten · 01/04/2022 16:04

Wasn't Chris rock the zebra voice in Madagascar?

RiverSkater · 01/04/2022 16:07

@drpet49

She didn’t even look at her husband as he walked back his chair. Weird
This is what I thought, there is nothing to discuss as she made sure she didn't have a reaction, probably because she knew whatever she did would be torn to shreds on social media.

Will Smith behaved like a man who believes a woman is his property, diss her and you diss him.

Discwriter · 01/04/2022 16:08

I think WS did slap CR in a stage slap, buy he still slapped him. Jada and WS might have thought it would be funny. It wasn't funny and it escalated. He did look like he was on something. They started the night off 'choosing chaos' as per his IG caption so who knows what is going on.

Deadringer · 01/04/2022 16:11

I wasn't making asumptions about anyone Soffit, i was refering to a pp who stated that she had never heard of Chris Rock but said he had done well out of it.

AryaStarkWolf · 01/04/2022 16:11

You hadn't heard of Will Smith even???? Whuuuuuuuuuuut
