New footage of Jada Pinket Smith laughing

Sorry know this has been done to death and probably people losing interest but-

Anybody see the mobile phone footage of slapgate filmed from behind the Smiths that was broadcast on morning TV today?

I'm convinced it was an act now, she didn't bat an eye and just laughed. I wondered why there hadn't been a video of her reaction before now.

OP posts:
LadyHenryofRawlinsonEnd · 01/04/2022 15:21

'Slapgate'?

If this was in AIBU i would vote UABVU for that alone.

Chonfox · 01/04/2022 15:21

Maybe she's just used to violence and didn't see it as a big deal? Maybe she laughed because she was delighted her husband humiliated the man who had just insulted her? Her laughing certainly doesn't mean it was "an act" which would be a ridiculous act really - what on earth do they gain from it?

@Meirou90

Would Will Smith really tarnish his entire career for an act? What would be his motivation in doing so - certainly not money as he had enough of it.
This! The optics on this are terrible. No one has come out of it well. F-ing and Jeff-ing on live TV?
Chonfox · 01/04/2022 15:23

Of course it wasn’t staged. Chris Rock was visibly shocked and lost track of what he was supposed to be saying afterwards

Yes it was obvious he was a bit stunned and the defensive tone of his voice when he said "I'm going to" was obviously not put on, but he recovered well I must say.

TigerLilyTail · 01/04/2022 15:23

The thing is, I've seen too many occasions recently where people seemingly post for the sole purpose of making the OP feel ashamed, or selfish, or shallow, purely for wanting to talk about a particular issue. There's just no need. It's especially hypocritical if the poster in question is merrily posting away on dozens of other threads that are even more trivial, without making any attempt to shut them down.

No one did this. People are just questioning why it's been made such a big deal of. The OP said the topic has been done to death. The OP was asking whether people thought it had been staged or not. Most people have said no. I think you are overreacting to this and being rude to people. If anyone is shutting posters down, it's you. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bellagio40 · 01/04/2022 15:25

Hilarious that a pp thinks that because they haven’t heard of him that he can’t be famous. Sure, the Academy always picks unknowns to present awards.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 01/04/2022 15:27

@TigerLilyTail we may have to agree to disagree, I think. But neither of us has slapped each other, so there's that.

MrsVeryTired · 01/04/2022 15:27

I thought it was staged at first but agree with @theDudesmummy this is not good for their careers, in the past it was all about how "white" all these ceremonies are, a black man hitting another is a very bad thing to happen here and no way would WS have agreed imo.

He definitely does not need the press/attention, he is so famous and done so well. If it was staged, then I'd be very suspicious of who advised him it was a good idea.

Yes, he was very professional
RoastedFerret · 01/04/2022 15:29

@LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana

Yes it's terrible :( As for her alopecia,it's not stress alopecia but traction so all self inflicted. Also learnt that CR has a form of autism. Wish he would press charges :(
I just read this and googled it apparently he has a non-verbal learning disorder. This makes what Will Smith did far worse in my opinion, he smacked a man that he knows has a learning disability, shame on him.
AryaStarkWolf · 01/04/2022 15:31

@LizBennet

Chris Rock did well from it. I’d never heard of him until this.

Chris Rock was already well known. Kind of the reason he was hosting the show.

He wasn't hosting the show, he was presenting an award but yeah can't believe people think Chris Rock is some unknown, he's a really famous Comedian and Actor.

Well said, TigerLilyTail.

Cornettoninja · 01/04/2022 15:35

I agree @MrsVeryTired. This whole debacle is a gift to certain groups.

BoredZelda · 01/04/2022 15:35

Bored Zelda Maybe you should educate yourself on the difference between traction alopecia and alopecia areata?

Well aware of the difference, I have AA. The education you are lacking are about the issues around black women and hair.

BoredZelda · 01/04/2022 15:38

This makes what Will Smith did far worse in my opinion, he smacked a man that he knows has a learning disability, shame on him.

That’s a massive leap. Is there any evidence that Chris Rock is incapable of self regulating in a way that would stop him being verbally abusive to a woman about the way they look?

TheBigPeach · 01/04/2022 15:39
Not his first time slapping someone. In this case the reporter guy was very hands on.
Soffit · 01/04/2022 15:42

I cannot believe that people are so naive and falling for this. They whole thing was staged by three people past their Hollywood peak to grab headlines and raise their profiles.

Soffit · 01/04/2022 15:43

All publicity is good publicity.

Chonfox · 01/04/2022 15:43

Interesting. There's obviously a temper under that curated persona. Although to be fair that reporter was a right weirdo! But you can that violence comes naturally to him. Wonder what he's like at home...

Threeboysandadog · 01/04/2022 15:44

If someone made a joke about an aspect of my appearance that I am ashamed and embarrassed about I too would laugh, especially in such a public space. I would be cut to the quick. I would want the world to swallow me up. I would die a little but I would laugh and pretend I didn’t care. In the words of my son with autism I would be “crying inside”.

The fact she laughed does not make this ok.
It is never ok to make jokes at the expense of others.
This is not harmless banter.
It was not ok to to use violence, that solves nothing, but I understand why he did.

AryaStarkWolf · 01/04/2022 15:45

@Soffit

All publicity is good publicity.
Disagree. Nothing good for Will Smith in this one. He was already top of his game
Chonfox · 01/04/2022 15:46

They whole thing was staged by three people past their Hollywood peak

The man literally won an Oscar FFS 🙄

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 01/04/2022 15:47

Will Smith was literally just about to be handed the Best Actor Oscar! Hardly 'past his peak'.
whynotwhatknot · 01/04/2022 15:47
