This has just been reported on BBC News. He was only 50 years old. Thoughts are with his friends and family.

And so the speculation starts…

What did you expect?
Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2022 10:23

Yes you’re right. This is MN after all…

I think it’s normal. It’s not common for a 50 year old to die.

What’s not on is people jumping in the ‘druggie’ bandwagon before knowing the facts.

CremeEggThief · 27/03/2022 10:59

Weed and antidepressants would definitely NOT have contributed to his death. The toxicology report is a list of everything in his system at the time he passed away.

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2022 11:03

There are some very strange ‘facts’ being reported by the press that’s for sure. It’s very soon for all that IMO.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 27/03/2022 13:02

While it’s sad when anyone passes, I’m surprised there is so much love for him. Foo Fighters funded & platformed AIDS Denialists, he was an anti vaxxer who thought vaccines causes autism. These kind of people are hated on MN, so surprising he is so loved and adored.

The drugs report came from the Attorney General. I'm sure Dave will have plenty of advice from other people who continued their bands. ACDC, Metallica, Queen all went on with their careers or became even bigger. In recent years Eagles, Rolling Stones and ZZ Top continue to tour without a key member. It's a lucrative business with obligations and insurance complications

VioletCharlotte · 27/03/2022 15:15

I was so sad to hear the news of Taylor's death. It takes me back to being 17 and how I felt when Curt Cobain died. I've seen Foo Fighters perform three times and have tickets to see them in Manchester in June. Taylor was an amazing drummer and performer, I can't imagine how his family and friends must be feeling. The media should be ashamed of themselves, falling over one another to imply it was drugs related. This should be kept private out of respect to Taylor and his family.

Babyroobs · 27/03/2022 15:22

I don't understand how toxicology tests can be conclusive so early. I have had a friend ( mid fifties) die suddenly recently and her family have been told 12 weeks for toxicology results.

They aren't yet. That is why they shouldn't have been mentioned.
Internaljukebox · 27/03/2022 15:54

Absolutely gutted I woke up and a friend had tagged me in a post ..I burst into tears . I've loved the Foos since they started and Taylor was just the best fit after William.
They were the first band I took my son to see and my daughter has some of his drumsticks .
So sorry for Dave and Pat after losing Kurt and now Taylor. His poor wife and children 😢

DG didn't want to continue with Nirvana when KC died and he didn't.

I don't understand either, not only are they available already but the press seem to have and claim to know all the details. Confused
Mumofsend · 27/03/2022 18:38

Just had the 20th March full gig on the TV. 7 year old DD just asked when it's her turn to see them. Dawned on me that they have been a huge part of her life to date too.

I'm so sad

SueSaid · 27/03/2022 19:13

And who is leaking info that his heart is allegedly twice the size it should be?

The whole thing with '10 substances in his blood' is surely a gross breach of privacy and confidentiality.

I never quite understand why we are entitled to privacy and confidentiality regarding medical matters when alive but once dead it all goes out the window.

westr · 27/03/2022 19:36

I'm absolutely gutted. I also think it will be the end of the foo fighters - I was just reading somewhere how Dave almost quit music when Taylor had an overdose back in 2001 (before he got clean).

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 27/03/2022 19:37

Saw then live years back at Milton Kenyes. His energy was amazing and sad will never see that again

The reports coming up shouldn't be! He has only just died yet already they're up and out there. Wherever true or not! No privacy at all.

So sad

westr · 27/03/2022 19:38

I agree, all the speculation etc is so disrespectful.

I've been thinking the same today and I'm absolutely gutted. The Foos have been such a big part of my life for so long. I took DS to see them 10 years ago when he was 12 and he loves them too. I feel so, so sad for Taylor's family and for Dave. I just can't see how he'll be able to move on from this and continue to perform.

I don't think the news really sunk in until this afternoon. I'm feeling so low, feels like the end of an era somehow.

westr · 27/03/2022 19:47

I watched the Glastonbury set from 2017 this afternoon. Devastated.

^Completely agree but that is MN double standards for you

westr · 27/03/2022 19:59

Get off this thread.

DaisyStPatience · 27/03/2022 19:59

@Sparklingbrook not comparable IMO. Kurt was Nirvana. Without him there was nothing to continue.

Ok, I have a different opinion though.
