This has just been reported on BBC News. He was only 50 years old. Thoughts are with his friends and family.

I'm absolutely gutted. Celeb deaths rarely get to me but Foo Fighters and Taylor Hawkins got me through a lot.

Genuinely good people. Breath taking musician.

Have tickets for June. I feel so sad at the idea of going and there being no Taylor Hawkins. I don't think the gigs will happen but if they do we will still go to support the band, it will just be sad.

My DD rang me early this morning on her way to work, she's devastated. The Foos are her favourite band, she was seeing them twice this Summer.
He was such a charismatic performer wasn't he and him & Dave had such great chemistry on stage. So sad Sad

SpaceyCake · 26/03/2022 08:39

Oh no. Gutted. 😭

Baxdream · 26/03/2022 08:40

I really think Foo Fighters will end. Given the love between Dave and Taylor, I just can't see Dave being able to continue. This is his second best friend to die (I don't even mean Kurt) so this will be tough for him.
I know Taylor wasn't a founding member but Dave is open about how close they are.

Imonaplane · 26/03/2022 08:44

Dreadful news. He always seemed such a nice man and was a brilliant drummer. A great loss to the world of rock music.

Change123today · 26/03/2022 08:47

It’s so sad. Not sure why but it quite upset me this morning. I’ve seen them many times - always got feeling of a good genuine friendship between Taylor & Dave.

Sadly I think this may mean the end of Foos.

Fizzgigg · 26/03/2022 08:47

I agree @Baxdream. I know FF had various line up changes in the early years but current lineup is so solid and Taylor-Dave dynamic is really the heart of the band

Poor Dave. First Kurt. Recently Mark Lanegan (they were in QOTSA at the same time) and no this. His poor wife and kids too. I'm really gutted
@Elderflower14 the feels…. Halo

Celebrity deaths rarely get to me. This one has just left me feeling a bit numb. His poor family and the band.

I feel so privileged to have seen him live multiple times. What a talent. X
I’ve seen them twice. He was an unbelievable drummer.

My DD, 11, is a drummer and I never got to take her to see him/them. Sad

I agree.

I don't think this is the end of Dave Grohl musicly but I do think it won't be FF anymore. He will do something new.

I just can't imagine FF without him.

GellerYeller · 26/03/2022 09:03

I'm so sad I never got to see them live. What a talent. I always enjoyed his slot where he came out front to sing.

heidihigh · 26/03/2022 09:06

I was devastated to hear this news this morning. Me and DP are huge FF fans and we're due to see them in June. Thoughts are with all his family friends and the rest of the Foos Thanks

Awful news Sad

GreenPalmTree · 26/03/2022 09:09

Have seen the foos many times, including some very small venues, and this really is a shock.

So sorry to hear this news, like previous posters I had tickets for this summer but don’t think those will happen and I also agree this is probably it for the band, sad as it is to say. Taylor was more than a drummer and the dynamic and position he held in the band was almost like a back up lead. So he is irreplaceable.

Sad
Pinkywoo · 26/03/2022 09:09

So sad. I saw the Foos at Brixton years ago and halfway through a second drum kit was unveiled, and Taylor and Dave Grohl proceeded to have the most epic drum battle, it was amazing.

StrangeAddiction · 26/03/2022 09:14

R.I.P Taylor.

Bit of a coincidence but I've been hearing Foo Fighters "My Hero" over the last few days (which ends up being an ear worm!) on tv which was written as a tribute to Kurt Cobain and as someone on Twitter said Dave being the drummer in Nirvana and losing his front man (Kurt) to becoming the front man and losing his drummer (Taylor). Sad

Darnley · 26/03/2022 09:21

I’m very very sad. Saw the foos at reading a few years ago. Taylor was such a showman as well as an awesome drummer. Tragic.

Inyourhonor · 26/03/2022 09:21

I agree. It wouldnt be the same even watching them without Taylor so cant imagine how it would feel performing without him.
Sweettruelies · 26/03/2022 09:22

This is dreadful. I am glad I never passed up an opportunity to see them live - probably saw them at least a dozen times and they never dialled it in. I first saw Taylor perform as Alanis morissettes drummer and had such a crush on him

PurpleThursdays · 26/03/2022 09:26

I can't believe I woke up to this news this morning. So sad, I spent my teenage years listening to them.

middleager · 26/03/2022 09:28

Can't believe this, after after Mark Lanegan and Chris Cornell too.

MrsAmber · 26/03/2022 09:31

Such sad news Sad

SnottyLottie · 26/03/2022 09:34

I can’t believe this, it’s genuinely thrown me. His poor family! He seemed like such a nice guy too. Dave Grohl will be devastated.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 26/03/2022 09:36

I'm a bit, well, numb - such awful news.

DH woke me up to tell me and I started at him open mouthed for a minute, couldn't quite believe it. He's very tearful - he keeps watching a video of him singing Tie Your Mother Down at the Roundhouse with Brian May and Roger Taylor that he was at.

TheLoupGarou · 26/03/2022 09:39

Absolutely shit news to wake up to this morning.

Crawfishspots · 26/03/2022 09:42

I’m so sad. I’ve seen them lots of times and have tickets for summer but I don’t think they will continue. I think Dave and Taylor are the core of the band and it can’t continue without him, he’s irreplaceable. I’m listening to them loudly sat in my car. RIP Taylor, so sorry for his friends and family
