Warsaw Russian is letting out a lot of smoke - there has been no decision on who among them will be the next pontiff.

Biden is going there Friday

Is Boris Johnson the designated survivor?

Who the heck let me be in charge?

The two Turkish airplanes still appear to be there.

Re thoughts in smaller nato counties, it’s not necessarily representative but I’ve heard a few callers on radio talk shows from these countries and they’ve stated that they have little trust that nato will help them because they’re so small and next to Russia and the nuclear threat doesn’t go away just because they’re a nato country. If that threat is enough to prevent anyone going into Ukraine then why would it not also prevent going into these small countries that don’t have big military themselves? Article five may prove as effective as the Minsk agreement or other treaty’s and promises.

Re non nato countries doing something, I think here are talks happening. Irish defence minister on radio today pointed out there were 6 eu non nato countries and stated Ireland and other countries would voluntarily be part of collective response to security issues in an eu alliance, that they would be undertaking training etc together with a number of other countries alongside and similar to what they already do with nato but separate to nato and definitely not part of nato. I didn’t catch all he said, and other than the 6 non nato countries I didn’t hear him specify any individual counties who may also join this alliance to maintain eu security and aid each other.

Ah! Here we are. Thank you for the new thread

This MN thread keeps me grounded. I'm am ex military and "hawkish" and I'm feeling very angry and frustrated.

Btw I have volunteered for Nowzad to drive medical supplies to Poland for the animals in Ukraine. Waiting to hear back! As ex Royal Anglian RLC I need to do something. Already donated money to the Red Cross. DH also class 1 HGV and volunteered too.

I need to do something but I'm nearly 50!

TiddyTidTwo · 23/03/2022 01:15

[1] The #Belarus President Alexander #Lukashenko fooled #Putin promising him recently in Moscow that he will invade #Ukraine this Monday, March 21, said aide of Ukraine internal affairs minister Anton @Gerashchenko7.

[2] #Russia expected that #Belarus Army would invade the western #Volyn area of #Ukraine and develop offensive south to the city of #Lviv to cut the arms supply routes from Europe, said aide of Ukraine internal affairs minister Anton @Gerashchenko7.

[3] #Lukashenko's decision not to invade #Ukraine angered Putin's inner circles, so they started thinking about how to remove him from power in #Belarus, incl. via military coup executed by the Russian agents in local KGB and army - aide of Ukr. IA minister Anton @Gerashchenko7.

No idea whether this has any truth but the mere suggestion of it is incredible.

Also it does start to make you wonder what exactly Belarus are waiting for.

Bill Browder @Billbrowder
I love the ongoing saga of the superyacht Shererrezade which is rumoured to be Putin’s. After the @navalny team exposed that the crew was entirely from the Russian presidential protection service, the crew was replaced by British staff.

Do you think he pays better than P&O?

PaperTyger · 23/03/2022 07:06

Posting this again thought it summed things up, Russia a gas station run by the mafia masquerading as a country. Putin, can't sell more oil? Let's kill more children

Dmitry Alperovitch @dalperovitch
Fascinating claimed intercepted call from Russian officer near Mykolaiv to superiors in Russia. He says:
- This is worse than Chechnya
- 50% of troops have frostbite
- They can’t evacuate the dead
- Don’t have enough tents
- RU plane dropped a bomb on their own position
- One column was hit with Grad rockets. Can’t even figure out if it was friendly fire
- Medics only have bandages. Can’t help with frostbite
- No hot stove
- Digging trenched to sleep in
- Commander of 49th CAA told troops on 4th day that war will be over in hours
- Troops don’t have body armor. When one complained to commander was told “son, be strong”
- This special operation is a “madhouse”
- Being told not to destroy buildings - it’s insanity. Unless we destroy everything and turn into dirt along with the civilians, nothing can happen
- TV says we are moving forward. But we just drive through without clearing up villages. And now we have to defend from all sides because they are attacking everywhere
- They thought this would be like a parade ride
- Our task was to get to Mykolaiv. And we are sitting here

best wishes and good luck @TiddyTidTwo

#Chernihiv. On the night of March 23, the Russian troops dropped air bombs on a road bridge across the Desna River, which connected the city with Kyiv. This bridge was used for evacuation/aid delivery. Seige. the head of the Chernihiv OVA Vyacheslav Chaus.

#Chernihiv is in the same situation as #Mariupol now. No water, no electricity. Authorities are trying to build a corridor but the invaders are firing artillery at all passages from Chernihiv and Kyiv. The road is mined.

Ive been watching the situation get worse for Chernihiv over the last 48hrs and wondered if this was the case...

PaperTyger · 23/03/2022 07:21

Isn't mining a war crimes
