What sort of people do you envy?

Because I’ve just realised I really envy people who don’t feel the cold! (Recalling a day this week when I stood shivering in a train station, wrapped in about seven layers, chatting to a glamorous acquaintance who was perfectly at ease in a long sleeved dress.)

Excluded qualities:

Family & relationships. Children. Wealth. Good looks. Because otherwise the thread would be pointless.

(Do I really need to add lighthearted to the title? Hmm )

People who are not rules by their emotions. I’m so highly strung. People who aren’t obsessed with food. One of my kids can just take it or leave it. It gives him so much more time in his head as he never thinks about eating.

NameChangeCity123 · 13/03/2022 18:55

People with a sense of direction and navigations skills. I cannot remember even basic journeys and am awful with maps.

People who are creative- I have zero imagination!

MrsHumphrieswife · 13/03/2022 18:57

Women who have good cheekbones. No matter what age they are they look stunning.

mydogisthebest · 13/03/2022 19:18

People that can sing. I so wish I could. I love singing but will only do it alone at home (and usually only if I know my neighbour is out). I sound like a cat being murdered (or worse). I don't want to be a great singer, I just want to be able to sing in tune.

I also envy people who can draw and/or paint. Again, I am terrible at both but would love to be able to do one or both

Moody123 · 13/03/2022 19:22

I envy people who speak more than one language and people who are fine with being late to things ... I have to be on time and it causes me so much stress it's unreal

YeOldeTrout · 13/03/2022 19:28

People who like to clean!!
blurk not my thing. Must be nice if you can enjoy it.

Luxembourgmama · 13/03/2022 19:29

People who can survived on little sleep. So much more time in the day

Clarabe1 · 13/03/2022 19:30

People who don’t overthink. I literally overthink about thinking.
Women who have great hair that looks good without much effort.
People who can drive on motorways without hyperventilating

Clarabe1 · 13/03/2022 19:34

@StorminaBcup

People who’s hands / fingers still function and don’t turn white when there’s a change in temperature. The joys of being able to unlock a door in winter with ease is unimaginable Grin
@StorminaBcup Raynauds? I have the white fingers too. DH calls them my corpse hands. I envy those with normal hands as well!!
Hillbillyhotel · 13/03/2022 19:35

Runners.

@KylieCharlene

I envy laid-back people. I'm very controlling, organised and I like things doing in good time. Due to this I always have something I need to do and I can never relax. I'm extremely highly-strung too.
Im exactly the same you have literally just described me. My husband is soo laid back and you can imagine it causes some problems, his attitude is I'll get to that later. Drives me insane!!
alwaysstressed · 13/03/2022 19:44

@15MinutesOlder

My initial thought was no one but then I remembered

People with good hair, hair that can just be left to dry and it still looks good and those whose hair doesn’t get frizzy in humidity or drizzle. What I would give to have their hair.

You need to get a Goldwell Keratin treatment. I used to have hair like yours and it has literally changed my life!
HumbugWhale · 13/03/2022 19:44

People who are creative e.g. who can buy a dress from a charity shop and alter it so that it fits them and looks amazing. Or who just have a good eye for colours that go together whether it is clothes or decor in their home. Or people who can hear a song on the radio and then work it out on the piano or guitar. I have grade 5 piano but cannot play much without the music.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 13/03/2022 19:45

People who have a great or even fairly normal relationship with their parents. Or just live far enough away from them so that everyone locally doesn't view you with suspicion.

Anyone with great relationships of any kind.

Also people who don't go to people pleasing as their default setting.

People who have some sort of plan for their life, I wish I had planned a bit more, especially financially.

People who can speak different languages and find it easy to learn them.

Superbabe64 · 13/03/2022 19:46

People that can paint or write books. Despite having a 'good eye' for art, I can not paint for toffee and love books but could never write one...I even hated having to write essays and dissipation at university.

Haggisfish3 · 13/03/2022 19:47

People who enjoy housework.

Gruffalogrinch · 13/03/2022 19:50

Ladies who have naturally strong nails with a little length, that need zero upkeep!

peonyandpeaches · 13/03/2022 19:55

Skinny rich people

phrow · 13/03/2022 20:03

I am envious of people who fall asleep quickly. I'm generally knackered by the time I go to bed. Do I sleep? Do I buggery. Then I get cross.

Hellocatshome · 13/03/2022 20:04

Anyone who has parents that give a shit about them/their grandchildren.

Bingo78 · 13/03/2022 20:04

@KylieCharlene

This is me too.
changenametimeagain · 13/03/2022 20:09

Those who can sleep anywhere under any circumstances. I need a fan, my special flat pillow, my sheet, a pillow between my knees, lately - my daughter's stuffed toy which she wanted me to cuddle one night and now it has to always be there, DH to be facing the other way, pitch blackness... need I go on.

And those who don't have misophonia.

Itsbackagain · 13/03/2022 20:11

People with their health. Mine is gubbed and I'm not even 50 yet.

StorminaBcup · 13/03/2022 20:12

@Clarabe1 - yes! Corpse hands here too. Even happens in the summer.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/03/2022 20:14

People who actually enjoy housework.
I have to force myself to get off my arse and make the place look presentable.
