What sort of people do you envy?

Because I’ve just realised I really envy people who don’t feel the cold! (Recalling a day this week when I stood shivering in a train station, wrapped in about seven layers, chatting to a glamorous acquaintance who was perfectly at ease in a long sleeved dress.)

Excluded qualities:

Family & relationships. Children. Wealth. Good looks. Because otherwise the thread would be pointless.

(Do I really need to add lighthearted to the title? Hmm )

People whose hands run warm. Mine don’t work outdoors for nine months of the year and they really hurt.

People who can have a drink then sleep all night and function the next day. Even one drink kills my sleep and makes me hungover.

People with quiet voices. People constantly comment on how loudly I speak. My husband keeps pleading with me to get a hearing test but he also fails to recognise that he mumbles terribly and I fear he would read my getting a hearing test as an admission that he doesn’t mumble.

Eoheleh · 13/03/2022 22:08

I envy extroverts as I'm an introvert and I hate it :(

blueshoes · 13/03/2022 22:15

eoheleh I am an off-the-scale introvert. I envy how extroverts are so easy around people and people feel comfortable around them. Maybe I just mean sociable people. I do like my space.

foxlover47 · 13/03/2022 22:40

People who don't procrastinate ... the pst 7 months have shown me that I do this too much

LoveFall · 13/03/2022 22:53

@Copenhagenoffice

LoveFall

That's not bitchy though I don't think.
I'd have done the same and then felt like a know all for the rest of the day 🤦‍♀️

Exactly how I feel, like a know it all. But next opportunity I get, I do it again.

I just can't stand obvious falsehoods being uncorrected! DH cringes in the background. But I am good at playing trivia at least.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 13/03/2022 23:07

I envy people who can sleep, tan, have small boobs and boundless energy.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 13/03/2022 23:09

I wish I could sing. If I could sing, I'd be on a private jet right now on my way to my next gig in Paris. I would not be hanging around here with you big boobed, crap at parking losers.Grin

fancyfrogs · 13/03/2022 23:12

People who actually enjoy exercise and can keep it up without it being a massive chore

Maybe a simiar one. I can't articulate my thoughts the same way some people do. Not the content but the delivery - the way some people (usually extroverts) can show compassion/wit through simple words. I end up offending or have a brain fog and quizzical looks.
SparkleWhale · 14/03/2022 00:15

People who are financially stable and are able to afford emergency expenses whether on finance or from their own savings.

Thin and healthy people.

MistyElla · 14/03/2022 07:02

Oh I’ve got another one. I envy people who don’t have a genetic propensity to cellulite or stretch marks. I’m quite slim and look pretty good with clothes on, but between terrible cellulite on the back of my legs and the stretched out stomach skin from 3 children, my swimwear physique is not great.

HRTQueen · 14/03/2022 08:00

Those that love yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️

I would love to get in the yoga zone but never reach it and throughly bored in classes

GiantSpider · 14/03/2022 08:56

@LoveFall I enjoyed your Beluga story. Can just picture it!

I envy slim people. But I do have nice hair and I don't overthink, so this thread has made me feel good about that!

Rivermonsters · 14/03/2022 08:58

Cherie Blair

Rivermonsters · 14/03/2022 09:04

Also people who have pet frogs

HRTQueen · 14/03/2022 09:12

Oh yes people who forget to eat Confused

I just don’t get this I’m always planning on what to eat

Scraggythang · 14/03/2022 09:14

People who are scared of what others think of them and those who can eloquently put their thoughts into words.

Scraggythang · 14/03/2022 09:17

Oh, and women with small boobs. Big is certainly not better in this case. The thought of dragging these noncompliant beasts around for the rest of my life without major surgery is depressing!

PuffinShop · 14/03/2022 09:33

People who grew up speaking more than one language. I can speak a second language but I'll never have full mastery of it like a native speakers. My bilingual children blow me away, I'd love to have their skills. But I suppose it's bad to be envious of your own kids :D

Really funny people. Making people laugh is the best social skill to have I think.

The trick to walking on slippery ice is to change your centre of gravity. You have to sort of lean forward a little so that you can keep your body in more of a straight line through your leg and down to the ground. It is definitely a skill that can be learnt, but of course you have to notice the icy patches first.

Funkyslippers · 14/03/2022 10:23

People who sleep well every night. They definitely do exist. I'd just like to, if I wake up in the early hours, be able to nod off again

petalblossom · 14/03/2022 11:11

People who enjoy healthy eating and exercise.

People who can just be themselves around people they fancy without going shy or weird.

BowerOfBramble · 14/03/2022 13:00

People who manage to plan and book holidays. I never know when to book my leave and I either leave it to the last minute or end up with no holiday.

People with non eczema skin that doesn't need a regimen of creams and stuff to keep it feeling halfway normal. When I watch a film and people pack a small bag or go on an adventure with nothing I always think "well my whole skin would be cracking up in 24 hours, that's why I can't have adventures."

Naturally sporty people - they really do exist!

On the other hand my hair is thick and I have no problem saying "no" to people, so I'm a winner in that sense! Grin

TottersBlankly · 14/03/2022 14:30

People who consistently remember to clean their make up brushes after every use! As opposed to those who invariably find them dry and stiff when they’re rushing about, already 10 minutes late for a zoom call, with no discernible eyebrows or eyeliner … Angry

DuesToTheDirt · 14/03/2022 17:07

Women with flat tummies! I'm not fat but have (and have always had) a flabby round tummy.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/03/2022 19:06

People with naturally smiley faces - or at least what I’ve heard called, ‘Pleasant in repose’.
