What sort of people do you envy?

Because I’ve just realised I really envy people who don’t feel the cold! (Recalling a day this week when I stood shivering in a train station, wrapped in about seven layers, chatting to a glamorous acquaintance who was perfectly at ease in a long sleeved dress.)

Excluded qualities:

Family & relationships. Children. Wealth. Good looks. Because otherwise the thread would be pointless.

(Do I really need to add lighthearted to the title? Hmm )

I wouldn’t say I envy them per se but I wish I could take a decent selfie. I never know where to look and they never look as natural as everyone else.

I envy people who can:
Sing 🎶
Dance 💃
Tan ☀️ (Ginger!)
Sleep soundly 🥱😴
All of these evade me, especially the singing…….it’s not pretty! 😵😵‍💫

@TottersBlankly

I can speak in public - for work type things. (I don’t love it, but the fear is manageable and I’m fine once I’ve begun.)

But I’ve spent decades trying to ensure I’m never invited to parties. And I never understand that ‘group of friends’ thing’. Can happily sit and chat to one friend; add another and I immediately start to believe they both despise me and would rather I disappeared … ‘Tis weird.

I get this. In my 20s and 30s I really envied what I now know to be extroverts - people who get their energy from being with people...all the time.

While I'm sociable and have a nice group of friends, I now realise I'm a classic introvert and much prefer the company of one or two and not for more than a few hours.

I wish I'd known the introvert/extrovert definition years ago - it would have stopped me thinking I always should have been doing more!

People who can just be themselves around people they fancy without going shy or weird.

I've been married for almost two decades and I call this the timely safety valve for any sort of temptation!

I envy people who don't suffer with emetophobia 😔

Lightning020 · 15/03/2022 15:07

Those who never gain weight irrespective of what they eat.

Those who have siblings and also get on well with them.

Those who still have their parents alive.

Those who don't need medication to keep them going (started two meds early forties).

Those who sailed through menopause without so much as noticing.

Those who go abroad every year without fail.

You need to get a Goldwell Keratin treatment. I used to have hair like yours and it has literally changed my life!

@alwaysstressed just saw this, thank you I’ll give it a try Flowers

People with long legs

butteriesplease · 04/04/2022 13:15

hi, so many of these!
I envy people that can actually run - I struggle to do 3.5km. and how do you run with friends? I can't actually talk if I'm attempting to jog...
I envy those people that know everyone locally - HOW?
I envy those who can park (I cannot, and have been known to leave a car park with no suitably ginormous spaces)
I envy those who are not eaten up by anxiety about what others think of them!
and, more light hearted - good eyeliner! I just can't, and really wish I could!

walkersareback · 04/04/2022 13:38

Morning people! I wish I was an early riser - I am sure I would get more done.

Similarly people who go to bed when they are tired instead of arsing around in their phones like me.

Do you think the two could be linked? I Wonder???Hmm
