What sort of people do you envy?

Because I’ve just realised I really envy people who don’t feel the cold! (Recalling a day this week when I stood shivering in a train station, wrapped in about seven layers, chatting to a glamorous acquaintance who was perfectly at ease in a long sleeved dress.)

Excluded qualities:

Family & relationships. Children. Wealth. Good looks. Because otherwise the thread would be pointless.

(Do I really need to add lighthearted to the title? Hmm )

Also, people who go on holiday and sit by the pool all day without looking like a sweaty red hot mess even in the midday Sun.

leiaskye · 13/03/2022 17:50

Slim people

Confident people

People who can chat to anyone

People who can think on their feet

People who don’t blush!

OrangeBananaFish · 13/03/2022 17:50

Thought of another one.

Funny people. Those who are quick with responses and make others laugh.

JasperJohnsPaintbrush · 13/03/2022 17:57

Those with good health - it's priceless!

User0610134049 · 13/03/2022 17:58

People with self discipline

Stroppypeople · 13/03/2022 18:03

Have never shaved my legs successfully…so really envy females with flawless legs and not a hair insight !

MintyGreenDream · 13/03/2022 18:04

People who don't over think things

DoWhatYouLike · 13/03/2022 18:04

I envy anyone who is confident. Also, anyone slim.

Lulu1919 · 13/03/2022 18:10

I envy people who go on amazing holidays two or three times a year ..and can eat out in lovely restaurants every weekend.
I also envy people who can retire at 60 and live comfortably

Calandor · 13/03/2022 18:14

People who don't worry about things much. Like they can say, ah well what's done is done and just move on.

I still ruminate over things that happened a decade ago! At the most random of times. Middle of a great day and bam, remember that thing you did at 16?

Calandor · 13/03/2022 18:15

@LaraDeSalle

People that can easily unscrew/undo things such as bottles and lids.
Yay this is me! It's all about finding the sweet spot. Give it a bash on a counter if you can't get it and the seal will break.
LoganberryJam · 13/03/2022 18:23

People who don't snore Blush

JaninaDuszejko · 13/03/2022 18:23

@Hoolihan

Michelle Obama.
This, because because she looks professional in sleeveless tops.

I'm also envious of tall people who don't need steps in every room to help reach high cupboards and shelves.

Hellolittlestar · 13/03/2022 18:24

It’s fantastic reading this thread. I can leave my hair to dry naturally and look just fine, I speak 4 languages fluently and I’m thin with small boobs, clothes look good on me.

I am not able to speak publicly, I honestly go blank and cannot put a sentence together. Therefore I envy people that can just stand up in a meeting and present things with ease. People that are confident at a job interview and generally bubbly.

dontblamemee · 13/03/2022 18:25

I envy people who can sing. Or play an instrument. I'd love to be able to sing (well) or strum a guitar or play the piano. I think it's make my life 20 times better if I could just bang out a little tune to cheer me up

Ringmaster27 · 13/03/2022 18:28

The people who can just get out of bed, wash their face, brush their teeth, run a brush through their hair and still look effortlessly beautiful.
I feel like it takes a whole arsenal of products and strategically applied war paint to make me look nice. I don’t wear a ton of make up on a daily basis, but the idea of leaving the house without a little concealer and my brows on makes me anxious Confused

Ringmaster27 · 13/03/2022 18:30

@Calandor my boyfriend is like this Hmm He’s the kind of person who’s house could burn down before his eyes and he’d still find a positive in the situation…whereas I’m notoriously “glass half empty” which he’s constantly winding me up about!

Sunnysideup999 · 13/03/2022 18:32

People who have a sense of direction
People who can sing in tune
I don’t have either ability!

Bushkin · 13/03/2022 18:39

People who have a talent that they can make a living from

The idea that you could do something you love and are great at for work blows my mind

Bushkin · 13/03/2022 18:39

Also people who can sing

OldClothes · 13/03/2022 18:44

First thing which springs to mind is people who can wear unusual clothes seemingly without being self conscious. I suppose this often coincides with poise/presence.

mamaduckbone · 13/03/2022 18:45

People who are decisive / impulsive.

Although impulsiveness isn't always a good quality I envy people who don't overthink every decision to the point of utter inactivity

spidersenses · 13/03/2022 18:46

Thin people
Disciplined people
Organised people
People with loads of friends

topcat2014 · 13/03/2022 18:48

@longestlurkerever I know what you mean.

Whilst not at the Boris Johnson end of Shambolic, I can somehow never look as sharp as I would like.

No matter how hard I try, in big meetings (I do several) I never seem to have managed to print out the correct agenda or something.

Or - if I am trying to be 'eco' the documents that were visible in the corridor on my phone simply vanish when I walk to the front//

BocolateChiscuits · 13/03/2022 18:49

People with energy.

I feel so knackered all the time, and everything feels like hard work.

On the plus side I am one of those people who can eat whatever they want without putting on weight. I usually keep this secret so that people don't hate me, so please don't hate me.

Thing is although I can eat as much as I want, I do still have to think about what I eat, e.g. I've given up sugary stuff for lent in hope of helping my energy problems.
