What sort of people do you envy?

Because I’ve just realised I really envy people who don’t feel the cold! (Recalling a day this week when I stood shivering in a train station, wrapped in about seven layers, chatting to a glamorous acquaintance who was perfectly at ease in a long sleeved dress.)

Excluded qualities:

Family & relationships. Children. Wealth. Good looks. Because otherwise the thread would be pointless.

(Do I really need to add lighthearted to the title? Hmm )

Yes to people with nice hair that isn't frizzy or unmanageable.

People with boobs that don't make most dresses and jumpers look shelfy and out of shape.

People who don't get travel sick.

People who can poach eggs.

People who are good at timing their seed sowing so the seedlings don't get leggy or huge or killed by frost. My sister is good at this. I'm not.

People who like being hot.

TottersBlankly · 13/03/2022 11:24

Some of you need to re-read the T&Cs at the top … Hmm

That crypto currency thing has so vexed me, JesusInTheCabbageVan! There was a thread - and I swear every single poster’s husband (always the husband) had made tens of thousands with a mere flick of the wrist. (I make this observation with regard to early adoption of newness rather than actual wealth. We are not talking about wealth on this thread.)

Michelle Obama.

TottersBlankly · 13/03/2022 11:29

What ‘sort’ of person is she???

OP posts:
Hoolihan · 13/03/2022 11:31

People who can easily chat to anyone without feeling awkward/drained.

People with a passion/drive to make a difference.

People who don't feel the need to overeat.

People who can speak a second language and/or play the piano.

Hoolihan · 13/03/2022 11:33

@TottersBlankly

What ‘sort’ of person is she???
Wholesome, passionate, graceful, fun.
Echobelly · 13/03/2022 11:34

People who are able to keep their houses clean and tidy. Even with children in them.

TheChosenTwo · 13/03/2022 11:34

@15MinutesOlder sadly not! What kind of hair do you have?
I like the Christophe robin range for masks and the L’Oréal wonder water actually does a miraculous job of detangling but I don’t use it often as I don’t understand how it does it and I find it a bit witchcrafty Grin
Living proof blowout serum (I think it’s called?) cuts drying time and reduces frizz if you need to blow dry in a hurry but i find that puts the tangles back in Grin
And there’s a lovely oribe serum that I use on the ends just to smooth any stray split ends…
It’s such a shitting faff having shit hair!!!
Do you have anything you recommend? My hair is coarse wavy and fine but loads of it so looks very thick.

CremeEggThief · 13/03/2022 11:34

People who don't overthink. The sort of people who just take whatever comes and deal with it without all the should I/ shouldn't I, will I/ won't I dialogue that accompanies practically every single thought or situation I come across!

Incognito32 · 13/03/2022 11:36

People who tan without looking a blotchy red mess!

iklboo · 13/03/2022 11:38

People who don't worry & fret about every single thing. I'm so guilty of ruminating & catastrophising.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 13/03/2022 11:40

People with thick hair or lots of thin hair. It's easy to thin out and make look nice and full of volume.

I have horrible thin hair and not a lot of it so it just hangs, doesn't hold curls or anything.

Lessyuck · 13/03/2022 11:46

People who can enjoy being pregnant

OrangeBananaFish · 13/03/2022 11:47

Right now people who don't run. I'm tired (both physically and emotionally - worried about the ever increasing cost of living) and really CBA, but I'm sat here feeling like I really should go out, but I really really really don't want to. If I never took up running in the first place then I'd be happy just sat here chilling. However, I realise a lot of people might envy me for my running - If I wasn't so tired I'd probably be out running 8 or so miles today.

People with active families. I look at various people I know who go on long country walks with their children. Meanwhile I have a couch potato DH and teenage children who are too busy on their phones. I realise I could do something about it myself, but read the first paragraph Grin

People with tidy houses. Or (looking at MIL here) people who don't really care what other people think of their homes. I really can't invite anyone in.

People who are the heart and sole of the village. While I know some names I don't know anyone to stop and chat to. Not properly. A quick hi and maybe a short exchange of the odd sentence is it really. My family are rather unsociable so village events are a no go for the others in my family and I'm too chicken to go alone. Especially now I've been here for 10 years. Its not even a big village either.

Roominmyhouse · 13/03/2022 11:48

Definitely agree with a couple of previous posters who mentioned those with small boobs!

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese totally hear you there. I’ve given up trying to do anything other than dry my fine straight hair straight. I long for waves!

PupInAPram · 13/03/2022 11:48

People who can give their adult children money for a deposit on a house and other financial support.

ssd · 13/03/2022 11:50

I envy people that dont blush

Gwenhwyfar · 13/03/2022 11:51

"People with small boobs who can effortlessly throw on an oversized t shirt and look great"

I have small boobs so in an oversized t-shirt I look like a boy. Not a good look.

Bumpsadaisie · 13/03/2022 11:52

People who exercise and do it regularly. I like it when I do it and feel great.

I get started and feel great for a week or two. But then just get into this self sabotage state where I just can't.

This goes on a while and then I sort myself out.

And repeat.

Sigh.

GalactatingGoddess · 13/03/2022 11:53

Sexy/magnetic people - I am attractive and quite curvy (that sounds braggy and I don't mean it like that) but I'm not sexy I don't think! I've been told I am intimidating to men so I never ever get approached (married now so it doesn't matter but still it's a nice feeling to be flirted with). I remember when I was 23 I used to work with a lady who was 45/50 and she was just so bloody magnetic. So many men would approach her as she had mischief and flirting in her eyes - can't describe it but I always wanted it! My sister is also magnetic (also helps she's a stunner) but her personality just draws people in.

I also envy people with good money management. Me and DH have been stupid with money despite both earning a decent wage.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/03/2022 11:53

@DimebagDarrell

People at work who just seem to have a sixth sense about how to get on in the workplace. They somehow talk to the right people, get involved in the right projects and think of the right questions to ask in meetings etc. Meanwhile I just paid on getting my work done to a decent standard.
Isn't there a lot of strategising behind all that. I comfort myself that I'm just a straight forward person.
ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 13/03/2022 11:53

People who don't have anxiety.
And people who get financial help from family when they are young - a decent leg up can set you up for life.

TottersBlankly · 13/03/2022 11:53

PupInAPram - you’re on a warning … ( Grin )

This is not a thread about comparative wealth! Or possession of partners / children or That Sort of Stuff.

Pretty please?

DowntonCrabby · 13/03/2022 11:55

Fuckers who can sleep anywhere, fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow and/or stay asleep when they are asleep. Envy

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 13/03/2022 11:55

Non-frizzy hair people. Would so love to have thick hair with some weight to it.
People who can do eyeliner that doesn't end up halfway down their faces or imprinted just under their eyebrows as soon as they blink . I can put it on, but it doesn't stay there!
People who sleep through the night and don't have to get up 3 or 4 times a night to go to the loo

Apart from that I'm pretty happy!
