Bring your favourite flops/shoulda been hits to a new audience Smile The only rule is, they cannot have made the UK Top 40.

My first choice - Humpe and Humpe, ‘Careless Love’. The duo changed their name to Swimming With Sharks (the name of their album) in the UK, for fairly obvious reasons Grin

Up next from me is Julia Fordham’s ‘Girlfriend’. Love this woman - somehow she has only had two Top 40 hits, and this wasn’t one of them:

"Rivers Flow and Rivers Run" by Karine Polwart. Excellent for staying calm in difficult times.

lapasion · 25/02/2022 21:11

Once and Never Again by the Long Blondes.

I randomly heard it on Spotify shuffle the other day, having not heard it for years. It reminds me of being a teenager in a tiny indie nightclub and sing yelling along to the lyrics.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 25/02/2022 21:15

Aslan - crazy world. Not obscure in Ireland but rarely heard in the uk

bangaverage · 25/02/2022 21:46

@Chishnfips

Dreadzone Little Britain.
Britain today is a powerhouse!
bangaverage · 25/02/2022 21:47

@ToffeeNotCoffee

Diamond Lights by Glen Hoddle and another chap

Kiss the Rain is a most excellent song

Home and Dry by Pet Shop Boys

Children by Miles (it's instrumental, charted in 1996 and reminds me of driving to college)

Robert Miles? I think it got to Number One!
Daisychainsandglitter · 25/02/2022 21:47

Little pink stars by Radish.

WinterCarlisle · 25/02/2022 21:49

It's a fire - Portishead

Counting Blue Cars - Dishwalla

Time40 · 25/02/2022 22:29

Yes! to Birdhouse in My Soul and Little Britain - two of my favourites.

My choice is the entire album Meccano Mind by Syntax. An absolute masterpiece that never got the success it deserved.

timtam23 · 25/02/2022 22:42

Black Metallic by Hammock. It's a cover version, the original was by Catherine Wheel and would also qualify for this as it never reached the top 40...but I prefer the cover version

HappyTalk2222 · 25/02/2022 22:42

Beth Orton - Stolen Car
