Bring your favourite flops/shoulda been hits to a new audience Smile The only rule is, they cannot have made the UK Top 40.

My first choice - Humpe and Humpe, ‘Careless Love’. The duo changed their name to Swimming With Sharks (the name of their album) in the UK, for fairly obvious reasons Grin

  • Debonair by the Afghan Whigs, Reminds me of secondary school.
  • Make you happy by Josh Pyke, Reminds me of when I lived in Oz.
DuesToTheDirt · 25/02/2022 20:21

Les Negresses Vertes, Voila l'Ete

I could listen to that every day for the rest of my life.

megletthesecond · 25/02/2022 20:26

Tierra Whack - Stand Up.
It's fairly new but I don't think it will chart over here.

@AllYouCanEatBrestaurant

Start Wearing Purple by Gogol Bordello
I was going to suggest this too! Every now and again I break into singing it and people just look at me strangely Grin

The night visiting song, last performance of the great Luke Kelly of The Dubliners so beautifully sung and poignant.

Also Calling You from the Baghdad Cafe soundtrack

Temple head by Transglobal Underground (from Whirl-y-gig before Hoxton was trendy)

Diamond Lights by Glen Hoddle and another chap

Kiss the Rain is a most excellent song

Home and Dry by Pet Shop Boys

Children by Miles (it's instrumental, charted in 1996 and reminds me of driving to college)

Classica · 25/02/2022 20:37

Idle Hands by The Gutter Twins

Classica · 25/02/2022 20:39

and it's not really obscure as such but a gorgeous song that I don't think is as well known as it should be is Darling Be Home Soon by The Lovin' Spoonful

Sideswiped · 25/02/2022 20:39

This is going to give away my age so, so much! (And even then I'm a bit young for it....)
Jan and Dean 'Surf City'. They were always considered the poor relations of The Beach Boys, but this track is epic!

WomanStanleyWoman · 25/02/2022 20:42

@ByTheNine

I Alone by Live. Great 90s grunge song that I had on a mixtape by a boyfriend
Ooh, excellent choice! I had this on a compilation called Rocks Off and I loved it 😍
