Bring your favourite flops/shoulda been hits to a new audience Smile The only rule is, they cannot have made the UK Top 40.

My first choice - Humpe and Humpe, ‘Careless Love’. The duo changed their name to Swimming With Sharks (the name of their album) in the UK, for fairly obvious reasons Grin

Where’s me Jumper! - Sultans of Ping FC. I think I loved it because my parents hated it!
Just heard that in 'the young offenders' film.

Mistake by Bawl. On a 1990s mix tape from melody maker. Actually there was a random guy trying to find out what the song was on Bebo years ago, and I was delighted to tell him

Back Street Luv by Curved Air.

It was a hit in 1971, but they were a great group who had this one hit that I have never heard on the radio since, so it meets most of your criteria and is amazingly good.

Interesting that this would be classed as obscure, I've always known this song and I thought it was much more sucessful than not making the top 40

I wonder how I would have come across it then

IstayedForTheFeminism · 25/02/2022 19:44
Or anything by Folk On.

DS says they don't count because most people don't want to hear them and therefore don't fit the 'criteria' in the OP. I think he's taking it too seriously.

I Alone by Live. Great 90s grunge song that I had on a mixtape by a boyfriend

The band Taxiride had some amazing songs in their native Australia and were successful in the US, Asia and Europe about 20 years ago. Didn't make it here though for some reason!

Get Set and Everywhere You Go are the stand out singles imo.

Can name numerous other Australian artists from the same era who were excellent so may have to come back to this thread.
