Bring your favourite flops/shoulda been hits to a new audience Smile The only rule is, they cannot have made the UK Top 40.

My first choice - Humpe and Humpe, ‘Careless Love’. The duo changed their name to Swimming With Sharks (the name of their album) in the UK, for fairly obvious reasons Grin

Slipaway by Les Enfants which won't be obscure if you were a teenager in 80's Ireland. Loved it.
somanylies · 26/02/2022 17:56

Or this Flying Visit by Ferris and Sylvester. Makes me cry. They wrote it based on the time one of them spent working as a nanny for a little boy. Its based on notes she made of things the little boy said. Its about the little boy seeking out connection. I'm crying now listening to it again!

Grin My ma was more of an Abba lady, obviously she missed a vital part of my education!

TarcasticSwat · 26/02/2022 18:25

Little Shoes big voice - nightfall

Northernsouloldies · 26/02/2022 18:32

Younghearts, a little togetherness, the tempos, countdown here I come. Both true Northern soul classics. 😁

suckingonchillidogs · 26/02/2022 18:43

Boy or a Girl by Imperial Drag - total banger. Just googled it and it only got to no. 54

WildRosie · 26/02/2022 18:51

@Skade

Diamond SMILES!!
I remember Diamond Smiles. It was out in about November 1979, followed by Someone's Looking At You.
BuddhaForMary · 26/02/2022 18:58

@CheshireChat hello! Love me some Shinedown, and good choice with Emilie Autumn!

Lookingoutside · 26/02/2022 19:36

‘Secret Smile by Semisonic’

@User48751490

Thank you for reminding me of this one.

AuxArmesCitoyens · 26/02/2022 19:47

Glenn Medeiros isn't obscure, it was number one for about a year and a half!

Runningincircles · 26/02/2022 20:13

Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken by Camera Obscura. It is such a happy catchy tune.

Theforest · 26/02/2022 20:21

Perfect for Me - Ron Pope

electrocautery · 26/02/2022 21:38

Christy Moore- "The Voyage"

LyndaSnellsSniff · 26/02/2022 22:07

In This Shirt by The Irrepressibles. I heard it in an episode of Snow Piercer and thought it was so haunting.

Also Song To The Siren, the This Mortal Coil version. It's my absolute favourite song but possibly isn't as obscure as I like to think it is!

MrsSiba · 26/02/2022 22:29

Stay with me till Dawn.
I had a dance version of it by Lucid which I loved.A random single CD I picked up in a bargain bin!
An older friend informed me it was a cover and the original was by Judie Tzuke which I also really like.

MrsSiba · 26/02/2022 22:45

Also Just Another Day, Jon Secada.

Love that song

WagathaRaisin · 26/02/2022 23:12

The Police- The Bed's Too Big Without You.

Not sure if it can be described as obscure, they're a well known band and it was in the charts, but nobody has ever heard of it when I sing it.

somanylies · 27/02/2022 10:15

This is beautiful

Hania Rani - Glass

AlecTrevelyan006 · 27/02/2022 12:53
@hugoagogo I had no idea Up the Junction
charted at number 2!!
Most people I know haven’t heard of it, or Squeeze, so it’s an obscure one for me.
The other mystery of life is songs that were quite big hits but have been forgotten about - usually because of unimaginative Radio playlists that continue to play the same couple of hundred songs while ignoring the many thousands of great tunes to choose from.

Spank.. Jimmy 80 Horne

Homosapian by Pete shelly

LadyEloise1 · 27/02/2022 19:03

Jesse by Carly Simon.
I heard it once and thought it was gorgeous.

Innatenvi · 27/02/2022 19:45

This one. My parents were big Gordon fans but barely anyone else I speak to has ever heard it.

Needdoughnuts · 27/02/2022 19:51

Gosh haven't thought about Gordon Lightfoot in decades! If You Could Read My Mind takes me back to sitting in my youth club mooning over some boy waiting for him to look at me and when he did just going bright red and sliding under the table. Blush Youngg love, you can't beat it...

Innatenvi · 27/02/2022 19:54

Also this - it may have been more popular in the continent, but people in the UK only know Loic Nottet, if at all, from being in Eurovision a few years back.

FuzzyPuffling · 27/02/2022 19:56

Heidi Talbot, "Grace Darling"
