FlightRadar24 - high traffic following invasion

Is anyone else monitoring the air traffic on FlightRadar24? There was an 8 minute wait to get on to the website!

Lots of military aircraft.

I assume they mean Crimea. It's a peninsula (not an island) on the south coast of Ukraine.

Currently nothing over Ukraine or Belarus. Flights flying around Belarus. 🥴

I had a look. Not one plane over Ukraine

Ukraine closed its airspace this morning. That’ll be why there are no planes flying over it.

I do rather suspect the reality is there will be aircraft there, it is more a case of no planes/crews are daft enough to be making themselves electronically visible to tracking sites or anybody else by way of datalink or other means.

There are several. I have used Marine Traffic to follow folks I know when sailing.

TellMeMoreHellebore try marine traffic. Used to use that among others to track DHs ships when he went offshore!

Seen a NATO plane or two leaving Malta. Plus quite a few with no call sign.

How have you all got the flight patterns up ? Blue lines to show circling etc

I'm new to using this but have often browsed through threads. Would anyone be able to tell me what would cause a plane to vanish? I noticed a Russian Air Force plane heading towards Belarus and thought it would be interesting to see where it went. But I accidentally clicked on something else when taking a screenshot and then couldn't find it again.

This US airforce one did a funny little squiggle earlier over norfolk, this app has always fascinated me.

That US one that kept circling around the Black Sea above Turkey seems to be going somewhere else now

Does it take a long time for flights to load?

It does @TellMeMoreHellebore - is there a reason it doesn’t have a takeoff and destination? Lots don’t, but why?
