FlightRadar24 - high traffic following invasion

Is anyone else monitoring the air traffic on FlightRadar24? There was an 8 minute wait to get on to the website!

Lots of military aircraft.

I’ve never seen them in that area. I know there’s been a nato plane flying about and a few US planes and helicopters, but never seen these ones. Actually quite surprised we can see all these types of planes on there

FWIW there’s also RAF Voyager in Romanian airspace, set up on a towline (Refueling pattern) just to the west of Constanta so I’d put money on there also being some Typhoons somewhere near it , but they are not showing on the tracking apps.

Quite why the F-16s are still visible is a ?

Yeah, I’m just surprised that military planes are so visible. They must want the Russians to see that they are there

The tankers have almost always stayed visible on the various tracker sites, I'm guessing that's possibly because of where they operate and coordination civilian Air Traffic Control.

Certainly pre-hostilities and for a few days post you could see a lot of the intelligence gathering flights (AWACS, EC-135s etc) running up and down. They are not visible now but I doubt they've stopped operating..

However it's always been a bit unusual to see any fighters on the trackers when they are that close to the border...

Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawks also stay visible.

Been quiet here for a while.

Busy day in the skies above me right now. Two US aircraft have just gone over. But as I was out in the garden, I hear roaring sound and watched around 7 planes in 'loose' formation above me, but high enough that I could only make out their contrails. So either they were also US jets (these ones weren't on radar) or the red arrows were out playing.

As Rainbow.. says it’s a tanker, it’s been on a “towline” (the oval pattern out to the East) presumably giving fuel away.

Generally what ever is being refueled (e.g. fighters) don’t tend to reveal themselves to the tracker sites.
