When would you tell them to stop?

It's just fresh apple, cut into pieces. They are a big fruit lover.

Long before their 8th tbh

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/02/2022 13:53

Yes. Healthy diet is about balance and that isn't balanced.

ThiagoSilvasToe · 22/02/2022 13:53

What else have they eaten today? I would have stopped them after the second apple.

GoldenGorilla · 22/02/2022 13:54

Well I’d have told them to stop about 4 apples ago, but as that’s not an option maybe they should stop now? I’m assuming they’re an actual child btw. Apples are quite acidic it can’t be good to have that many.

girlmom21 · 22/02/2022 13:54

Provided there was alternative food available, yes. I'd tell them to eat something substantial if they were hungry.

Rrrob · 22/02/2022 13:55

Yes about 6 apples ago.

Cassop · 22/02/2022 13:55

Yes, before the 8th, moderation is needed. How old are they?

GiftWrappingLikeItsXmasEve · 22/02/2022 13:55

Yes several apples ago
And I thought we were massive apple eaters!

LemonViolet · 22/02/2022 13:56

This is a child, not a donkey?

Yes too much sweet/acid

I remember getting through 2L of apple juice in a day once when I was about 10 and my Dad going beserk at me.

caulkheaded · 22/02/2022 13:57

I think age and size of apple makes a difference. If they’re fifteen and it’s the mini apples (fun size?) then I’d treat that differently to if they’re two.

SNUG2022 · 22/02/2022 13:58

Two pieces of fruit in a row would be enough for me to tell my dc no more. They love the sugar and are probably just bored.

ComDummings · 22/02/2022 13:59

I’m pretty laid back about food with my children but that is a lot of sugar, up to 80g

hugoagogo · 22/02/2022 13:59

They may learn by themselves that it's not the best idea.Grin

Newyearnewme2022 · 22/02/2022 13:59

I would be expecting to not leave the house tomorrow due to child having explosive diarrhoea.
I would hide the apples and put one out a day. I have to do this with my SN son.

JohannSebastianBach · 22/02/2022 13:59

I'd be bracing myself for child to have a "gut reaction"

Figgygal · 22/02/2022 14:01

Noone needs 8 apples a day
If theyre hungry the apples clearly arent doing it id find them something else

Theunamedcat · 22/02/2022 14:03

My kids had a day off school once as they ate a box of oranges the staff found it hilarious my toilet didn't but they said we were exempt from the 48 hour rule as stupidity is not contagious 😑

Theunamedcat · 22/02/2022 14:04

Sorry sidetracked! My son can eat five with zero consequence anything more than that its anyone's guess he is just turned 9

greenlynx · 22/02/2022 14:07

How big are apples and how big is your child? For 6-12 y.o. I would say 2 apples if normal size , one after breakfast and one after lunch , if mini apples - 4 , 2 after breakfast and 2 after lunch . And that will be the end of apples ( or other fruits) for the day. Less for younger child and more for older one.

JauntyJinty · 22/02/2022 14:08

@JohannSebastianBach

I'd be bracing myself for child to have a "gut reaction"
This was my thought - I was just having trouble thinking of a suitable way to word it!
Siepie · 22/02/2022 14:10

I often ate a pack of 6 (small) apples a day as a teenager, spread throughout the day. It never did me any harm, but then I was a 5'6 teenager not a small child.

If a child ate 8 apples in a row I'd probably be wondering why. Are they grazing from boredom, or actually hungry/thirsty that could be better dealt with by something more filling or a glass of water.

blacksax · 22/02/2022 14:10

That's just plain greedy.

peboh · 22/02/2022 14:12

That's far too much! What else are the eating?
If they've had breakfast and lunch already, then I wouldn't even think they'd need anything more than 1 or two, maybe 3 I'd they're little apples. Be prepared for tummy ache also. A lot of acid and sugar isn't good for tummies.

Gowithme · 22/02/2022 14:12

I wouldn't eat more than 2 a day max so yes I would have stopped them long ago. Very acidic for teeth and an awful lot of sugar even if it isn't free sugars.

TheSnowyOwl · 22/02/2022 14:12

Do they have SEN?
