When would you tell them to stop?

It's just fresh apple, cut into pieces. They are a big fruit lover.

Heck no. Why are people getting sniffy about a few apples. Wait until they're teenagers and can buy their own monster drinks!

00100001 · 23/02/2022 20:01

@Idontwanna

Because it's just a bit excessive. And really, unless there was zero other food available, completely bizarre to allow this

@hibbledibble

Oh dear. I seem to have offended the crones who guard the fruit bowl and never let anyone have two of anything!
More hilarious and witty commentary from OP again...

And you'll never guess how many satsumas my daughter had...LOLOLOLOLOL

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 23/02/2022 20:12

My son's eaten 4 raw carrots today. A pepper, punnet of tomatoes, an apple, banana. Should I have just ordered a just eat from McDonald's?!? I just don't know anymore!!!!

LtMoose · 23/02/2022 20:18

I honestly wouldn't be bothered, there are worse things to be eating 8 of.

I’m agog at the number of posters who seem to have got out their grade A outrage and judgement for an apple-eating. I can’t really imagine what they have left in the arsenal if you did something truly shocking OP!

Wow, 8 apples a day is a lot, however lightheartedly they were eaten.

Ha! Now that's funny. Op, write that down.

Yes I think there would be less outrage if I gave my toddler a fag. It's apples!

We've had the full bingo of diabetes, neglect, acid urine, obesity, KFC is better, to name a few. The attitudes of some parents to food is so strange that it's no wonder obesity and eating disorders are so high now.

Oblomov22 · 24/02/2022 16:41

This has got nothing to do with apples. 8th of anything shows ..... ? greed, a lack of self control, lack of ability to think straight.

Er, no. 8 apples a day is just greedy. Eating 8 apples a day is a bad attitude towards food in itself.
TakeSomeMoreTea · 24/02/2022 16:45

@hugoagogo

They may learn by themselves that it's not the best idea.Grin
I thought this.

To be fair, I'm not sure that toddlers are known in general for their self-control and rigorous critical thinking abilities.
lisaandalan · 24/02/2022 17:02

Definitely stop.

Fucking hell and I've just eaten 12 grapes! I'm ashamed
grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 24/02/2022 18:19

I do hope this is a wind up.

Diabetes and obesity is actually a true concern regarding excess consumption of fruits. You can find multiple article on it. It's parent's responsibility to regulate what children eat.

No one has said 8 portion of kfc is better than 8 apples. People said right portion of kfc is better than 8 apples. If OP truly don't get it, then I despair.
I just cannot imagine a 3 years old having 8 apples in a day on top of regular meals. Why are they so hungry? Do they have some issues? Why would any parent cut up 8 apples without thinking it's not right?
Imagine the little fist sized stomach expanding to max. It's not ok, and it's not normal.

ouch321 · 24/02/2022 18:22

...then I'd think I was failing to provide sufficient to eat at breakfast/lunch or that the food I was providing at said meals was not filling.

Apples are a healthy food but to eat that many as an adult would be strange, let's say, and all the more so for a small child.

I think it's strange that you're looking for people to applaud your oversight though.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 24/02/2022 18:24

Did you eat 12 bunch of grapes, or 12 grapes? You are the one to be ashamed for sure, if you think people worrying about children's wellbeing is a joke.

😂😂 I am..fucking massively ashamed.

Op just bloody lock the apples up! Won't somebody please think of these poor children!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 24/02/2022 18:47

You know what. Thinking about this. I am going to complain to the school..they have an open fruit and veg basket. Children can help themselves and you can donate if you want to.

My youngest come home with a bag of carrots and 3 satsumas one Friday!!

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 24/02/2022 19:24

And you really think the teacher would praise your child if they ate, (not come home with, which is a totally different thing), 8 pieces of fruit? I'm sure they will be concerned.
And, no, no one has said eating fruit is wrong.

I wouldn't know if my kids had 8 apples. We have a full fruit basket and I just re-fill it. I wouldn't praise them nor expect them to be praised. The teacher probably doesn't know what which child has eaten. I bet some kids don't eat any and the reason my DC got give the leftovers is because he eats so much
Casheeeew · 24/02/2022 19:59

You wouldn't notice if your kid ate 8 pieces of the same fruit. Cool parent award goes to you! We are far too uptight, what with our helping children make healthy choices and general supervision. Well done you.

SilverDoe · 24/02/2022 20:01

I did think about this thread and totally forget to say that yes, a big issue over this for me would actually be budgeting/meal planning. I can't be letting a child eat 8 of one thing in one sitting or else that'll be it for apples for the week and it would really annoy me. I already spend a fortune on fruit and healthy bits for the little ones.
