Do you listen to the radio?

I never do. Wonder if I should.
If you do listen, which station do you listen to? How do you listen to it (what kind of device/app)?
What time do you listen? Any particular time of day and why?

On holiday if I have a hire car. Radio 4 if in the UK.

BowerOfBramble · 14/02/2022 13:06

Yes, mainly BBC 6music when I’m pottering about and proper programmes (mainly BBC podcasts and radio 4 shows) on their app while I’m out running/commuting.

EBearhug · 14/02/2022 13:07

Radio 4 is usually on in the background
with radios in most rooms and it's what the are I'd tuned to. Occasionally go to R3.

Classic FM, Radio 2, and Fip radio are my usual listens if I have the radio on. I tend to listen more to Spotify though

JuergenSchwarzwald · 14/02/2022 13:09

Radio 4 at home; Magic or Heart 80s in the car.

PyjamaMamma · 14/02/2022 13:09

I do, in the car and sometimes in the house when I’m working. I listen to the local radio station - moved from Heart when they replaced the local breakfast show with Amanda Holden.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 14/02/2022 13:11

Loads. I work to radio 3’s ‘through the night’ programme. When I’m not working, radio 4

Datsandcogs · 14/02/2022 13:11

Virgin radio in the morning when Chris Evans is on and Radio 2 for the rest of the day or if in the car. I don’t like Radio 2 in the evenings.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 14/02/2022 13:12

I listen to Times Radio each morning from 7am then Radio 4 for the news programme at 5pm.

Nortd · 14/02/2022 13:12

I haven't in years! I just use Spotify.

Runningincircles · 14/02/2022 13:12

I listen to Virgin Radio. I like Tim Cocker in the afternoons. He plays a lot of Indie and Britpop.

amusedbush · 14/02/2022 13:13

Only when I'm in the car. I listen to Heart but not for any particular reason.

To be honest, I'm not even really listening to it and couldn't tell you what songs had played while I was driving. I just like the chatter in the background, like when my granny would leave the radio on for her budgie when she went out Grin

RonCarlos · 14/02/2022 13:14

Yes. Radio 4 to wake up, then Radio 2 is just on during the day in the kitchen, unless DH has Radio 5 on. Radio 4 at 5pm (I'd like to switch to LBC but it's habit). Then Radio 2 for the end of Sara Cox/Jo Whiley.

Radio 6 on a Sat PM/Sunday. The Archers omnibus if I am around. But weekends is pretty dire for radio. And some Radio 4 programmes I used to like have gone downhill (ahem - desert island discs). I often listen to a CD which tells you how with the times I am.

Sometimes Absolute 80s in the car.

I also like BBC Sounds and Radio Garden apps.

MangoLipstick · 14/02/2022 13:14

Heart dance or heart 90s, always in the kitchen when cooking.

Have it on upstairs when pottering about or playing with dc. She knows lots of the songs now and dances to them. Good taste.

emuloc · 14/02/2022 13:15

Yes. Lbc, and Radio 3.

cobblers123 · 14/02/2022 13:16

Radio 2 but only for Ken Bruce in the morning, I usually mute it right down for everyone else during the day or turn it off when Steve Wright comes on.

I'd listen to Ken all day, every day if it were possible. Grin

savehannah · 14/02/2022 13:17

Only in the car, Radio 2, radio 1 (if the teens are in the car) or heart or Absolute 80s. At home occasionally we have absolute 80s on too but mostly at home it's Spotify.

noblegreenk · 14/02/2022 13:17

Radio 4 at home. Absolute radio Absolute 80s or Smooth in the car.

Akire · 14/02/2022 13:17

LBC usually on app on my phone. Used to be able get on free view TV too. Occasionally radio 4 plays and the like.

MrsCremuel · 14/02/2022 13:18

Constantly eek. R4 for flagship news shows then Times radio/LBC depending on who is on when, despite LBC always infuriating me. I tend to play my own music and not listen to music stations.

dun1urkin · 14/02/2022 13:19

Radio 4 in the car and in the shower. Then inevitably on Sounds when something catches my ear.
Classic FM whilst working
Smooth FM in DH’s car, accompanied by my awful singing
Also recently enjoyed Radio 6 courtesy of having a trade in, and working in the room next to him. Seriously, I made him turn it up so we could both listen whilst we worked

TheSmallAssassin · 14/02/2022 13:20

Radio 4 in the day time, while pottering around, 6 Music in the evening while we're in the kitchen. Radio 4 or 2 in the car, because we don't have a DAB radio.

Upstairs I listen on a proper radio, downstairs on our Google things, all synched together so you can hear it as you walk from room to room. Sometimes I listen on my phone if I want to carry on listening to something interesting on my walk to work.

WellThatsMeScrewed · 14/02/2022 13:21

Have radio on all the time.

Mostly Radio 2, occasionally radio 1, 5 live, local stations.

I just can’t get into Radio 4.

Have it on from moment I wake to when we go to bed.

Think radio is great.
