Do you listen to the radio?

I never do. Wonder if I should.
If you do listen, which station do you listen to? How do you listen to it (what kind of device/app)?
What time do you listen? Any particular time of day and why?

Radio 4
Radio 4 Extra (I like the repeats of radio comedies - it's how I discovered Cabin Pressure)
ClassicFM
occasionally Radio 3

All on FM radios apart from Radio 4 Extra which is on DAB and I only have one DAB radio so that's limited to one room.

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2022 13:56

All day when home - switch between R4, R6, LBC and Radio Times

Try to avoid djs speaking on R6, dramas on R4, adverts on LBC and use Times Radio if all fails on first three

Witchinthedales · 14/02/2022 13:59

Mainly Radio 4 or 6 music.

Radio 2 mostly via Alexa, dab radio or on my phone depending where I am. Have to admit radio two got me through lockdown.

Cocolapew · 14/02/2022 14:05

All day long, I listen to Magic Soul via Alexa. I occasionally will put Greatest Hits on the telly.
I listen to Spotify in the car.

SaintVal · 14/02/2022 14:09

I do when I can. So, morning I always listen to Radio 2 and Zoe Ball's pick your own playlist. Then on Saturday at 4pm on Radio 1 is Charlie Hedges with dance anthems. In between those I listen to our local station Wave 105, Greatest Hits Radio and Capital FM.

hanahsaunt · 14/02/2022 14:11

Radio 4 all day from when I get up and in the car. Volume goes up and down depending on what I am doing.

marqueses · 14/02/2022 14:13

Yes, the only time I'm not listening is when I'm at work or after about 7pm.

I have digitals radios in the kitchen and my bedroom, a car radio and BBC sounds on my phone.

I mostly listen to speech radio and radio 2 if there's nothing I like on radios 4 or 5.

I just can't imagine my life without the radio, I'd have no clue about what's happening in the world.

MarshaBradyo · 14/02/2022 14:15

I heavily rely on it too as I don’t bother with tv news, print or online news

Radio 4 in particular good for expert opinion, plus music on R6 is good

Mundra · 14/02/2022 14:16

R4, sometimes R3.
I used to also listen to Kerrang, but can't pick it up now we've moved house.

AAAAAGHH · 14/02/2022 14:19

Radio 2 and Greatest Hits UK at home on Alexa and in my car.

Itstheprinciple · 14/02/2022 14:22

LBC usually, a local 'hits' radio station in the car that I've listened to since I was a teenager, or Smooth or Absolute 80s or 90s or Virgin Anthems.

At home I listen on Alexa, we have her in most rooms so I just transfer it with me room to room wherever I'm doing stuff.

I used to like Women's Hour on Radio 4 but I'm not so keen on the new presenter.

nannybeach · 14/02/2022 14:22

I listen all day in the background while I WFH. I play it via the telly in the next room (open plan kitchen diner area) while I'm in the office. Find it on the sky channels, usually channel 0128 or something

midsomermurderess · 14/02/2022 14:29

I used to but now it's now it's mostly podcasts. Some are from radio schedules, like the News Quiz or In Our Time though.

Slipperfairy · 14/02/2022 14:35

Radio 6 is on pretty much constantly at home. It's given me loads of new music to put on my playlists. I'd pay the licence fee for that alone.

Often r4 on the way home from work.

BestKnitterInScotland · 14/02/2022 14:36

Podcasts yes, radio no.

The kids usually want Capital on in the car and the inane chat from the DJ makes me lose the will to live.

Thesearmsofmine · 14/02/2022 14:37

All the time. I listen to different stations depending on my mood,l but mainly 5 live, Capital, Smooth, radio 2 and absolute radio. I would listen to magic but can’t stand Ronan Keating(presenting or music).

BowerOfBramble · 14/02/2022 14:45

@Plumpciousness I enjoy some of the stuff on there too - Cabin Pressure is amazing and I love the dickensian one. Bleak Expectations I think it's called.

Justcallmebebes · 14/02/2022 14:47

Yes. Love the radio. I mainly listen to radio's 2 and 4 and Gem is on in the car apart from my morning commute, which is back to Radio 4

MrsTophamHat · 14/02/2022 14:48

LBC usually.

SartresSoul · 14/02/2022 14:49

Listen to radio 4 fairly regularly. I like women’s hour, PM, world at one and more or less. Also listen to Saturday live if we’re in the car going somewhere and that’s fairly enjoyable.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 14/02/2022 14:50

All the time. 6 music or lbc at home. Lbc or capital/kiss/radio 1 in the car (child dependent). Otherwise audiobooks and podcasts.

caranations · 14/02/2022 14:51

I only ever listen in the car.

Classic FM
Radio 2
Heart

I switch between them depending on the time of day, and if there's any boring chit-chat or they are playing something I don't much like. Tend to use Radio 2 on longer journeys as their traffic reports are good for motorways etc.
