Do you listen to the radio?

I never do. Wonder if I should.
If you do listen, which station do you listen to? How do you listen to it (what kind of device/app)?
What time do you listen? Any particular time of day and why?

I have radio 2 on all day, as previous poster mentioned upthread I love Ken Bruce. I also enjoy Sara Cox and Jo Whiley as they remind me of my radio one days 😁

MrsTimRiggins · 14/02/2022 16:33

All day every day pretty much! We have a digital radio in the kitchen and it’s switched on when we boil the kettle first thing and is switched off as we let DDog out last thing at night. Absolute Country or Absolute Radio playing generally but my husband sneaks Kisstory on sometimes!

pontiouspilates · 14/02/2022 16:46

Radio 4 first thing, 6.music during the day and Absolute radio whilst cooking dinner. I have an old digital radio in the bedroom and an Alexa in the kitchen.

I work from home and have the radio on all day as I can't concentrate without background noise.
5 Live or Radio X usually, a bit of Radio 2 or 6 Music.

slavetothekittens · 14/02/2022 18:07

I have Radio X on most of the day when I'm at home, digital radio.

PolytheneRam · 14/02/2022 18:12

6music usually. Radio 4 occasionally

Threewheeler1 · 14/02/2022 18:13

All day. LBC, even though Nick Ferrari and most of his male callers make me want to poke my eyes out and I cannot stand Steve Allen. JO'B kept me sane through Brexit and I love Sheelagh Fogarty so much. Nobody is allowed to disturb me in 'Sheelagh Time'.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/02/2022 18:31

Radio 1 breakfast show on the way to work. Radio 4 food programmes and comedy shows. Podcasts have largely replaced my overnight World Service listening

EllaPaella · 14/02/2022 19:25

I listen to radio 4 - in particular Woman's hour, The Archers and PM. I listen to radio 1 when I am driving. I used to love XFM on digital radio but I don't think it exists anymore.

radioactive4 · 14/02/2022 19:46

LBC (been listening for about 10 years!) and BBC R4.

Have it on during the day on the Alexa when I'm at home,

shouldhavebeen · 14/02/2022 19:51

Morning nothing. Late afternoon Great Hits Radio to listen to Simon Mayo's Confession & Drive time. Evening BBC6 Music. Weekends BBC 6Music, especially Sundays. Love Cerys and Tom Robinson. Listen to everything on Alexa.

tinselvestsparklepants · 14/02/2022 19:54

4 for news and 6 for music. Love all the new music it's introduced me to over the years. Pre Covid I'd often go and see a band I'd heard on 6 music.

Missatkins · 14/02/2022 20:14

Yes, LBC.. Always start the week day with Nick Ferrari, afternoons with Eddie Mair (such a sexy voice), and weekends listen to David Lammy and Andrew Castle. I'm addicted to LBC 😊

Missatkins · 14/02/2022 20:19

Those who listen to LBC, do you know why Majid Nawaz was "asked to leave"? I used to love his weekend shows 😒

radioactive4 · 14/02/2022 20:22

@Missatkins

Those who listen to LBC, do you know why Majid Nawaz was "asked to leave"? I used to love his weekend shows 😒

I think it was to do with his messaging around getting the vaccine.

avocadotofu · 14/02/2022 20:27

Yes all the time. Usually Radio 4, 3 or 6.

Jellykat · 14/02/2022 20:27

When im WFH and weekends i have the radio on all day.
Radio 2 - Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine weekdays, Sundays - Johnny Walkers sounds of the 70s and Paul O Grady.
Radio 4 - The Archers/ afternoon plays/ Desert Island discs / The unbelievable truth and PM weekdays.. i also listen to Any Questions/ Answers on Saturdays.

Gladioli23 · 14/02/2022 20:32

Listen to it regularly here, usually R4 for the today programme and either PM or the 6 o clock news depending when I knock off work.

I used to listen on the digital radio but it had something against R4 and struggles to get itself tuned in but I bought a Google home at Christmas and it's fab. Looking back I should have got an Alexa instead as I think that can play actual BBC sounds stuff just by asking instead of live by asking and not live by using your phone but the home is great.

TheMoth · 14/02/2022 20:48

Radio 6. We don't tend to watch TV until 9ish, so music is on. Love a bit of Mark Riley and when Ezra stands in. Saturday afternoons can be a bit shit. I don't want jazz and stuff on a Saturday afternoon. I want fun.
Not sure iggy pop works Sunday tea time either, really.

nancybotwinbloom · 14/02/2022 20:56

I listen to in demand radio of a morning 8 till 10 then again about 6 when I'm cooking dinner. It's all club hits from 20 years ago

OldTinHat · 14/02/2022 21:02

Only in the car which I drive about once a fortnight for 15 minutes and is set to the local station.

So I'm no help!

ReturnOfTheBlackSheep · 14/02/2022 21:11

What do you like
There are great documentaries, plays, books, quiz programmes as well as current affairs. I like a wide range of stuff - things like
The Infinite Monkey Cage for light hearted approach to science,
The Bottom Line for indepth look at business

I don't know, I don't really know anything about anything Blush and it's becoming more and more obvious the older my DC get and start asking questions. We never had the radio on when I was a child, and I wasn't really allowed to listen to music. Is it possible to listen via my tablet? I have speakers I can stream to from it.

Radio City or Rock fM....I like a local radio station

mumofEandE · 14/02/2022 21:30

Only started listening to anything other than Capital in the last couple of years-

Morning commute Heart
Evening commute Heart
If I am around in the day at 10:30 Radio 2 Pop Quiz
Saturday/Sunday morning Virgin Graham Norton
Saturday afternoon Radio 2 Rylan
Sunday afternoon Radio 2 Elaine Page

All other times 'Magic at the Musicals'

ElaineMarieBenes · 14/02/2022 21:38

I listen to BBC Radio 4, Radio 4 extra and Radio 3 plus lots of podcasts (not all BBC- but mostly!) - I prefer the radio to tv.

I highly recommend the following - (but it depends what you fancy - and I use my iPad or phone to listen via BBC sounds):

In our Time (they have a top 10 as an introduction!)
Seriously
Death in Ice Valley
Round the Horn

I also listen to audio books (again the wonderful beeb) and last one was Adam Bede (currently 1984 - which I first read in the 70s as a teenager!).
