Just wondering what a sensible portion of dry pasta is for a healthy serving?

I use a mug full per person.

Svara · 18/01/2022 19:16

We do 75g each

MrsCremuel · 18/01/2022 19:16

It’s supposed to be 80 I believe but I have closer to 100…and am a stone overweight.

Not a scooby. I shake some pasta into a pan and look at it to see if it's enough. I've been cooking pasta for 30yrs so usually get it pretty spot on for a family of 4. I cook enough to satisfy appetite.

SpikeDearheart · 18/01/2022 19:18

75 g for me, double that for my thin-as-a-rake, always-hungry DH!

Caramellatteplease · 18/01/2022 19:20

50-60g

But surely it depends on what else you are eating that day

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 18/01/2022 19:21

100g
50/60g is barely anything!! I guess as I'm vegan though the pasta is the main component of the meal. My sauces are always low fat/cal.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 18/01/2022 19:22

Depends what type..
Pasta bake I do 60g for each serving and it's plenty
Just a pasta with sauce I would do 75g

WellTidy · 18/01/2022 19:22

75g or so. It is a mug full for us.

OliviaKeeling · 18/01/2022 19:23

I do 90g for DH and 50g for me. But then I'm the type of person who puts weight on by looking at a picture of a cake!! Grin

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/01/2022 19:23

60 g ish

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/01/2022 19:24

Whenever I make a pasta bake I use a 500g bag, plus the protein and two or three veggies. Sauce and cheese.

Makes 4 adult portions and 2 child portions.

DillDanding · 18/01/2022 19:25

We do 75g each.

I rarely eat carbs. I’d love a bowl of pasta!

Decorbreadthegingerate · 18/01/2022 19:25

I count out eight tubes of penne

BitcherOfBlakiven · 18/01/2022 19:26

I just used a 500g bag for me and 2 teen DDs and 6YO.

Teens ate most of it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/01/2022 19:26

@Decorbreadthegingerate

I count out eight tubes of penne
Grin

Then tub up the leftovers for tomorrow right

MrsTophamHat · 18/01/2022 19:27

80g per adult and 40 per child. I use digital scales when i tip it into the pan. It looks like nothing but it is about right.

Comedycook · 18/01/2022 19:27

75-100grams

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/01/2022 19:29

60g ish. I need to lose weight as I am overweight, so I've started weighing it.

Inextremis · 18/01/2022 19:29

Flip knows - do you lot really weigh your pasta? I just shove a handful into the pot!

StampOnIt · 18/01/2022 19:30

Around 100g each, sometimes eat it all, sometimes get full and stop, none of us are overweight.

shivabeaver · 18/01/2022 19:32

This is a very weird forum Grin

sleighbellsjiggling · 18/01/2022 19:32

I didn't realise people did this!! I tend to tip a load in the saucepan and hope it's about right it never is

PinkFizz1 · 18/01/2022 19:32

Anything between 75g-90g.

I’ll have 75g if I’m having a chicken breast or something in it. If it’s just veggies I’ll have up to 90g. Pasta is SO easy to overeat. I don’t weigh much but I do weigh pasta as I was eating roughly 250g a portion when I was very very overweight!

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 18/01/2022 19:33

Two big handfuls per person. But I've got big hands and am a bit fat. Today we had a Gousto meal and there was 120g pasta between 2 people and actually the portion size was fine. It's good to know!
