Beat my wild NYE plans

I have just rushed to Argos to buy a new doormat. I'm now contemplating a takeaway, followed by putting the DC to bed and reading a book on the sofa while DH watches Squid Game.

What does your NYE look like?

Chinese with my mum gma and sister.

Mum is doing a dodgy quiz that's mostly opinion based like "what's the best film" etc. zero facts!

I'm watching IAWL (usually do this Christmas Eve, but was sans garçon this year, so tonight is my Crimbo Eve).

I could do this via DVD, with no advert breaks, etc. But, noooo, that'd involve reaching over for the OTHER remote control , not to mention getting up To Put The Disc In. So this is my evening: moving as little as possible, and watching crappy adverts

Just had dinner with DH and DC and now snuggled on sofa in Pj's already.
Thinking about someone I went to school with who has discovered she has cancer at the age of 30. Her partner died in a terrible accident a few years ago and she has three young children. It's AWFUL. So I am being grateful for being able to relax and snuggle with everyone and for our relative health.

Wishing you all a very happy 2022. I will be in bed earlier than the DC at this rate!

Home alone this evening flicking through some coffee table type books with a bottle of champagne and re-runs of top of the pops on BBC 4! Haven’t spent New Years alone before but am quite enjoying myself

Me and the kids. I've just had an Indian takeaway the kids had peri-peri takeaway. They're watching Cobra Kai and I'm drinking a glass of wine and scrolling on here. Will watch the fireworks at midnight then go to bed. Happy New Year!!

It's my first New Years Eve as a single parent. Eldest DS is at a party, youngest is on his computer and I have the TV all to myself...Bliss!

'Cooking' is a stretch tbf - I've just scoffed prawn cocktail & avocado. Then there's some leftover Chinese beef from last night & the last chunk of an M&S yule log :) and I can eat it or not as I please between now and 10pm and I don't have to set a good example so I can sprawl on the sofa / scroll MN in peace. I was going to have a glass of something but ds just texted to say that exH took them to McDs via a drive through covid test station so he could get a PCR as 'he's been off work today not feeling well'. News to me. Stupid twat- the kids had their only friends coming tomorrow for a sleepover. Grr

Currently having aperitif. Will watch University Challenge final and then cook flank steak. I've made chimmichurri sauce, tabouleh and a celeriac & kohl Rabi remoulade to go with it. Then we're having Mont Blanc for dessert - a very easy chucked together version.

Wine for now, hard liquor for later and champagne for midnight.

We're having a very chilled, laid back, romantic evening. I had bowel cancer this year, thankfully fully recovered, and am very happy to be here and healthy and happy.

Laundry, cooking and cleaning, looking after 5 kids while OH works all day (probably til late as he's a chef) Currently exercising the two youngest boys at the local football court before heading back to play Uno, hopefully without waking my 10 month old. I'll be in bed with the kids at 10pm, fingers crossed 🤞

Have just finished watching Tess o' the D'urbervilles. Partner then went to bed at 8 as he's up at 3am for his shift. So am now sat on my lonesome and quite enjoying it really.

Am hoping no fireworks start popping, but really want to hear my owls - they usually start calling about 1-1.30 in the morning.

I'm being forced to watch World's Strongest Man by dh. It's his Christmas/new year guilty pleasures.

Drinking wine as starting Dry January on the 4th. Got a case to get through! Hard times.

It's my birthday today, so I've been out to eat with DS2 & DS3
Currently browsing for a new TV as the speaker has blown in my old one
I have Tanqueray flora Sevilla in hand though, so that helps!

We're all covid positive here, but feeling okay. DH would have been at work tomorrow, so he's missed out on some double time. Watching clips of Edinburgh Tattoo and having a herbal tea.

Feel like starting with a cold but not a fan of NYE any way,will be asleep before midnight

I'm participating in a Beat Saber tournament with dh and both teen dcs! DS has organised it meticulously in true asd style! GrinI won't be drinking (I just don't enjoy it any more) but I have already had a lot of chocolate this evening.
