Beat my wild NYE plans

I have just rushed to Argos to buy a new doormat. I'm now contemplating a takeaway, followed by putting the DC to bed and reading a book on the sofa while DH watches Squid Game.

What does your NYE look like?

Self isolating! Literally! Daughter gone to grandparents and fiancé staying at his own home as I don’t want either of them to catch this nasty shit of a bug!

Crunchymum · 31/12/2021 19:03

First glass of wine poured. Chinese takeaway ordered.

Kids in PJ's and going to watch Zooptropolis. I've got music and candles in the kitchen.

Party poppers for when we feel really wild although we're all shattered so will probably be in bed by 12.05am Grin

Barton10 · 31/12/2021 19:04

DH and I treated ourselves to Lego yesterday so tonight will be building Hogsmeade and an At At!

1forAll74 · 31/12/2021 19:06

Well, I am 79, and was putting up some new curtains in my living room earlier, and the whole metal pole came off, one of the metal brackets came off, so now got to reposition the rail. which meant that i had to go in my shed,to get my electric drill, find the drill bits, and raw plugs. The pole is back up now,But hated standing on a long coffee table to reach up, and drill the wall..

Going to feed my three cats now, then have my own meal. and then drink some gin and tonics later, I live alone, in a quiet village,, but maybe hear the church bell ringing at midnight,, I say bell, as think they only have one bell, which sounds a bit odd and clangy.

Totallyfoodedout · 31/12/2021 19:09

Nice lunch out with DH and now home for the evening with nibbles and drink. Washing machine on and washing hung out (good drying weather!)
Happy to be home and relaxing. DD wants to stay up to make sure guinea pigs are OK with fireworks Grin

Chickydoo · 31/12/2021 19:09

DH Driving Son no 1 to a party, then gone to find some loo roll in any shop he can as we've run out. Confused
Then fish & chips here with DC 2
Having a lovely cocktail 🍹 though as DH doing the errands.
I remember when I dressed up & partied the night away. Don't miss it a bit.

Itsnotdeep · 31/12/2021 19:09

I'm watching the last 2 Successions and finishing off the baileys tiffin in the fridge.

Have a glass of red. I'm in new loungewear. It's lovely!

DigitalGhost · 31/12/2021 19:11

Staying in as family party is cancelled, although we cancelled first as we couldn't be arsed.
So letting 4 yo old stay up abit for party food and a film.

Totallyfoodedout · 31/12/2021 19:12

@ReginaaPhalange wonderful, wishing you all the best! Flowers

@1forAll74 I hope the curtains look OK now you've fixed it all. Enjoy your meal and gin Smile

BlowDryRat · 31/12/2021 19:12

DH says he fancies cheese and wine biscuits so that's scuppered the takeaway plan. I'm currently lying on the sofa on MN mustering up the bother to get the bits out of the fridge. He's also caved and said that the DC can stay up, so that means I'll have to share the Doritos Sad

DO is away in Glasgow DS is out with his pals, I haven't bothered getting dressed today. Just me the German Shepherd (dog variety, not a random German sheep herder) and the puppy whose toilet training is doing my head in . So Harry Potter it is then and Diet Coke then earlyish to bed for me

BeLessMe · 31/12/2021 19:16

I’m in bed -finally.

I wanted to come up a couple of hrs ago but knew DH would sulk if I came up that early. Teen is out with friends, I’m snuggling with the cat scrolling through TikTok & MN.

BlowDryRat · 31/12/2021 19:18

Ha! DH is in the kitchen preparing cheese and nibbles. Success! Especially as he's responsible for the death of the previous doormat.

DP has covid so DSC who would usually be here are at their mums. It's mine and DSS birthday tomorrow and I'm so bored out of my mind right now. We'd usually have a good party and I feel like I really needed it this year. NY and covid can do one!

Exhausteddog · 31/12/2021 19:22

a few hours ago
DH: shall i put this bottle of prosecco (sorry MN i like it!Blush) in the fridge?
me: to celebrate us all having covid? Grin

to be honest only teen DD had plans that she has had to cancel, but the rest of us will feel a bit shit while just staying in like we normally do!

Whambamthankyoumaam21 · 31/12/2021 19:25

I’m washing the throws and cushions with a brand new fabric softener and I may light my new Yankee candle. I’m watching waking the dead on iPlayer, I’m even beginning too fancy Trevor eve ShockJust too add too the ambience, a bottle of liquor and coke. I’m so interesting aren’t I?? Blush

Jooox · 31/12/2021 19:26

I’m dogsitting 3 dogs, all are elderly and terrified of fireworks. We’ve had fireworks going off since around 4pm. I expect it will only get worse heading towards midnight.

The only place in my home where the noise can be drowned out is the pantry. It’s big enough for all of us so I’ve made a floor bed, have an iPad with Netflix on and we’ve settled in for the evening.

I’m driving to Wales tomorrow so hoping for an early night (maybe in the pantry).

MrsLargeEmbodied · 31/12/2021 19:40

cooking,
contemplating pub

MotherOfChaos28 · 31/12/2021 19:40

Nightshift for me! So I need volunteers to drink wine on my behalf. Good luck @ReginaaPhalange it’s DH birthday tomorrow so your baby will be in good birthday company.

Abzs · 31/12/2021 19:40

I have Covid booster side effects after getting it done yesterday, an over tired small child, an over excited bigger child, and in laws in residence (one is already falling asleep).
We are having a guy martin marathon thanks to more4.

SunshineCake1 · 31/12/2021 19:42

DS1 has gone back to his flat with three friends for a party. Will come back in a week.
DD at uni.
DS2 upstairs.

I'm just back from hospital. In pain, tired, not allowed alcohol. So quiet night watching tv.

MostlyGuesswork · 31/12/2021 19:43

I have an empty diet chart prepared and ready on my fridge.

I intend to EAT everything yummy right up until the last stroke of midnight begins my one-year no-quitting diet to reach a healthy weight.

This time I will be doing it. But first... the last taste of homemade apple crumble for a year!

Coffeeislife04 · 31/12/2021 19:46

Finished work had a baileys ordered take away shower pjs netflixs and gin partner is working so probably be asleep by 10 then be woken by the fire works lol

WinterBerry7 · 31/12/2021 19:46

Alone here too. Bottle of wine, M&S picky bits and Taskmaster on the TV.
Had to lie to the wider family and tell them I was busy otherwise I’d be expected to be with them, and I just wanted to be on my own in my own space! Probably be in bed before midnight. I hate NYE.

Daisychainsandglitter · 31/12/2021 19:55

Staying in tonight. We were going round to a friend's house but DH has covid so we're at home with a Chinese takeaway.
Wanting to watch the new Bond film but DD1 (7) will not stop talking and dancing so am currently watching Top of the Pops 2014.
Really fancy a drink but feel like I have the very beginnings of a sore throat and am paranoid about catching covid from DH and having a hangover on top of it so am drinking alcohol free tonight.
