Do you do laundry on Christmas day?

Sorry a bit of a dull thread!

Just wondering if other people stick a wash on? I always seems to have loads of laundry...if I have a day where I don't do any, I find it really piles up and I end up with a backlog. On the other hand, it feels totally shit to do washing on Christmas day! What do you do?

I didn’t and wouldn’t think to but I solved the towel washers some years ago after a couple of the reads came up together, one about towels and one about showers. I believe that the ‘musty towels, filthy and smelly if not washed immediately’ brigade are the same ones who won’t have a flannel or Shower scrunchie and don’t think you need to wash legs or feet because the soapy water runs over them. Their towels are dirty after one use because it’s the towel that gets the dirt and skin off them.

I am an exception to this theory - I don't use a flannel/sponge etc or scrub my legs and yet my towels (washed once a week) don't smell! Sometimes I don't even use soap but soap substitute

But I don't scrub my body with a towel either, I gently pat myself dry. And I hang my towel either on the towel rail (non-heated) or over the shower screen to dry immediately after I'm done with it. Towels will definitely smell if they are left in a heap no matter how fresh they are.

I did and my husband had a go and said I should be relaxing 😅 I just like to keep on top of it and do it when it needs doing

I wash our towels every week or so but they never smell bad. Why would they? I would think there's an issue if your towels stink after just a week.

Precisely, if you scrub well in the bath/shower, the drying towel won't have much on it. I use a flannel/wash cloth/ loofah and lucky to have a well ventilated bathroom. Having a towel rack also helps, as opposed to hanging them on the door.

Makes sense I wash with soap and a Salux scrubby cloth then body wash so effectively wash twice I guess. And wash everything from in between toes to shins!

yes marcopront I meant frequently. My English grammar is obviously rusty. Frequently as in change every day. I don't want to dry my face on a towel that I previously used to dry my bottom.

I use a bath sheet for my body only and a smaller towel for my face and hair, hang to dry and change weekly.🙂

If your bottom's not clean when you're wiping it with your towel, then you're going wrong somewhere.

So your solution is to wash every day with the associated environmental concerns rather than have two towels.

It appears that some people class a few tea towels as a load. So when people claim they do two or three loads a day I’m beginning to think that their 3 loads is equal to my one load.

I didn't on Christmas day, but we weren't at home. If we were, I probably would have done.

But my DH creates a huge amount of washing. He thinks flannels are single use. Will use at least 3 towels a day, 2 at the gym which need washing straight away. 1 more which he'll dry himself on and then use to dry the floor in the bathroom. 2 pairs of trackies, 3 or 4 tshirts a day layered up. 2 or 3 pairs of socks. Sometimes another set of trousers, shirt and hoodie. Plus undies.

He has a gift where he makes everything smell musty coming out of the washer, no idea how, it comes out smelling worse. Then he'll forget and leave it 2 days before transferring to the dryer. Not weaponised incompetence, he just doesn't give a shit if his clothes smell gone off. I do because it makes the house smell. It was worse when everything was on a clothes horse to dry.
We've not long got a dryer and my life is castle improved!
