Do you do laundry on Christmas day?

Sorry a bit of a dull thread!

Just wondering if other people stick a wash on? I always seems to have loads of laundry...if I have a day where I don't do any, I find it really piles up and I end up with a backlog. On the other hand, it feels totally shit to do washing on Christmas day! What do you do?

It's a day off work, of course am doing a wash!!!!

WildRosie · 25/12/2021 11:09

It should be finished by the time I get back home.

LibbyL92 · 25/12/2021 11:15

Washing machine is on now.

Will put up to dry just before we go out at 12. Won’t be back until tomorrow night. Will hopefully be dry and folded ready to be ironed Monday!

First wash of the day is already on.

PickAChew · 25/12/2021 12:03

I usually chuck in something easy to process like towels or bedding. Like you, I have a lot of laundry, thanks to an incontinent teen.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 25/12/2021 12:05

I popped some towels in to wash this morning and they’re up on the drying rack already (obviously doesn’t take long to hang them). I’ll put some clothes in later today after Christmas dinner - the washing pile is never ending!

Yes of course. I also load the dishwasher and put that on in the evening too, well I tell a lie my husband does it.

RampantIvy · 25/12/2021 12:19

Do those of who who wash loads have huge families?

Oblomov21 · 25/12/2021 12:54

Shouldn't be. But just hung out a load from yesterday.

delilahbucket · 25/12/2021 13:04

Stuck a load of towels in to wash and dry. Don't normally but our washing has got out of hand over the last couple of weeks. I've been working loads and DH has been helping me at work, so the house has been allowed to slide. Trying to do a load a day to catch up and towels are easy for today.

RampantIvy · 25/12/2021 13:31

Where do people live where hanging washing outside actually gets dry at this time of year?

It is just so damp here (edge of Pennines) that it simply isn't worth hanging washing out now.

I'm over in Lancashire. We put stuff on the line uf theres a bit if a breeze. I di r expect it to be fully dry but getting it out for a bit takes the edge if it.

NW coast. Bloody windy round these parts, so it tends to do well (it's horizontal on the line today!).
Hen2018 · 25/12/2021 15:50

Washing machine is on!

Hertsgirl10 · 25/12/2021 17:16

I was told it’s bad luck to do washing on Christmas Day & New Year’s Day but you should have a big clear out and clean before NYE to start the year as you mean to go on …

Mummabear89 · 25/12/2021 18:07

I've put a load in the machine just to make the house look tidier but I won't put it on to wash until the children go to bed

MerryChristmas21 · 25/12/2021 19:22

My friend might find it odd if I go & put her machine on 😂

But if I was home I don't have a fixed thing about it. So I would if it was a good drying day & there was enough to warrant a wash.

It takes seconds to out on & 5minutes to hang, so not seeing the fuss either way tbh

Ducksurprise · 25/12/2021 19:24

Load four just gone in. Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 25/12/2021 19:34

Our two loads are in now (and almost-dry), as it's set to rain from 8pm. It was a perfect drying day today, it would've been a shame to miss it!

whenwillthemadnessend · 25/12/2021 19:35

No but I'll do a load tomorrow

deathofastrawberry · 25/12/2021 19:37

I wouldn't normally do any washing on Christmas Day but I needed to catch up on it a bit, and hung it while DH got our baby to nap. It only took 10 mins out of my day. Smile

Helpimfalling · 25/12/2021 19:39

I must say I did one lot.
then put it in the dryer where it will
Remain until tomorrow.

Parker231 · 25/12/2021 19:44

We’ve 17 of our families staying this week - washing machine and tumble dryer are on non stop.

JovialNickname · 25/12/2021 19:57

I've spent today loading up our machine! My washing machine is shared between 12 so when people are away like today, it's a good chance to clean everything.

DisforDarkChocolate · 25/12/2021 20:22

I've just put a load of tea towels on. I managed to get so many messy making dinner.
